Offering similar stats, Zealot prefers consistency over damage, and since rotator raids are farmable, this is much easier to acquire than the elusive Iterative. | Season 8 | Slot: Void | Ammo: Special | Archetype: Rapid-Fire PvP God Roll: Under Pressure + High-Impact Reserves | Top-tier

Killing four or more combatants in a single volley increases the damage of the next volley." ► Even though recent buffs benefited Eyes of Tomorrow in PvE, it still doesn't hold up to other options like Gjallarhorn. However, its absurd tracking continues to make it a near-irreplaceable pick in 6v6 PvP and Gambit. | Season 12 | Slot: Solar | Ammo: Heavy | Archetype: Exotic Exotic Perk: "This weapon is capable of tracking and firing at multiple targets simultaneously. While the perks featured on it may have been relevant at the time of release, they don't hold a candle to newer choices like Incandescent. Until the loot from this raid gets refreshed, Ancient Gospel will continue to be average. | Season 8 | Slot: Solar | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Adaptive PvE God Roll: Rapid Hit (also good: Outlaw) + Dragonfly (also good: Kill Clip)

Not to mention that this weapon is only available via the Garden of Salvation raid, chasing this weapon is hardly worth your time. | Season 8 | Slot: Void | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Rapid-Fire PvP God Roll: Outlaw (also good: Under Pressure) + Kill Clip

The problem is it belongs to the weak Precision Frame archetype... While it isn't the best choice now, it might be worth picking up a roll you like when 180s get buffed. | Season 12 | Slot: Arc | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Precision PvE God Roll: Reconstruction (also good: Rapid Hit) + One for All (also good: Rampage)

While it has some good perks like Frenzy, it can't compete with some of the stronger options on this list, giving it a middle-of-the-pack ranking. | Season 14 | Slot: Solar | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Precision PvE God Roll: Rewind Rounds + Firefly (also good: Frenzy) PvP God Roll: Killing Wind + Kill Clip
Stormchaser | Stormchaser | Linear Fusion Rifle | Aggressive | Heavy | Arc | Deluxe Edition | Yes | B › Average | Duality Dungeon | Average ❘ B Excels in: PvE | Duality Dungeon Deluxe Edition | Slot: Arc | Ammo: Heavy | Archetype: Aggressive PvE God Roll: Rapid Hit (also good: Clown Cartridge) + Firing Line (also good: Vorpal Weapon) ► Being the first aggressive frame linear fusion rifle, Stormchaser was remarkably strong for its time. However, now that other options like Cataclysmic and Briar's Contempt have gained popularity, Stormchaser has taken a back seat. It's still an outstanding option if you're not a raider, but going for something better is definitely worth it. | Season 17 | Slot: Arc | Ammo: Heavy | Archetype: Aggressive PvE God Roll: Rapid Hit (also good: Clown Cartridge) + Firing Line (also good: Vorpal Weapon)

It's still an absurdly strong pick for a world drop, but if you have access to raids and dungeons, you'll find significantly stronger linear fusion rifles there. | Season 18 | Slot: Void | Ammo: Heavy | Archetype: Precision PvE God Roll: Triple Tap + Firing Line
Nessa's Oblation | Nessa's Oblation | Shotgun | Pinpoint Slug | Special | Void | Lightfall | Yes | B › Average | Root of Nightmares Raid | Average ❘ B Excels in: PvE | Root of Nightmares Raid Lightfall | Slot: Void | Ammo: Special | Archetype: Pinpoint Slug PvE God Rolls: Fourth Time’s the Charm (also good: Reconstruction) + Focused Fury ► Nessa's Oblation is a decent pick, but Slug Shotguns aren't too powerful right now (outside of a few select alternatives). Its perk pool is pretty mediocre, too, making Nessa's Oblation an average weapon. | Season 20 | Slot: Void | Ammo: Special | Archetype: Pinpoint Slug PvE God Rolls: Fourth Time’s the Charm (also good: Reconstruction) + Focused Fury
Mykel's Reverence | Mykel's Reverence | Sidearm | Rapid-Fire | Primary | Strand | Lightfall | Yes | B › Average | Root of Nightmares Raid | Average ❘ B Excels in: PvE | Root of Nightmares Raid Lightfall | Slot: Strand | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Rapid-Fire God Rolls: Rewind Rounds + Hatchling (also good: Swashbuckler) ► While Mykel's is part of the highest DPS sidearm frame, it is held back by being Strand, as it loses out on the 10% bonus Kinetics get. However, that isn't to say it's not extremely powerful, and with Threadlings being buffed next season, it might be a meta pick. | Season 20 | Slot: Strand | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Rapid-Fire God Rolls: Rewind Rounds + Hatchling (also good: Swashbuckler)
Undercurrent | Undercurrent | Grenade Launcher | Wave | Special | Arc | Free-to-Play | Yes | B › Average | Nightfall: The Ordeals | Average ❘ B Excels in: PvE | Nightfall: The Ordeals Free-to-Play | Slot: Arc | Ammo: Special | Archetype: Wave PvE God Roll: Demolitionist (also good: Field Prep) + Voltshot ► If you lack The Witch Queen DLC or just can't find a raid group, Undercurrent is your best replacement for Forebearance. While not as strong, it can surely compete thanks to Voltshot being as powerful as it is. | Season 23 | Slot: Arc | Ammo: Special | Archetype: Wave PvE God Roll: Demolitionist (also good: Field Prep) + Voltshot
Eidolon Ally | Eidolon Ally | Auto Rifle | Rapid-Fire | Primary | Kinetic | Free-to-Play | Yes | B › Average | Crota's End Raid | Average ❘ B Excels in: PvP | Crota's End Raid Free-to-Play | Slot: Kinetic | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Rapid-Fire Curated Roll: Rangefinder + Perpetual Motion ► Eidolon Ally’s fixed roll perks provide increased range, handling, and stability, making it a solid choice in The Crucible. It also comes packed in with the Cursed Thrall origin trait which is likely to prove more useful in PvE. | Season 22 | Slot: Kinetic | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Rapid-Fire Curated Roll: Rangefinder + Perpetual Motion
Koraxis's Distress | Koraxis's Distress | Grenade Launcher | Rapid-Fire | Heavy | Strand | Lightfall | Yes | B › Average | Root of Nightmares Raid | Average ❘ B | Root of Nightmares Raid Lightfall | Slot: Strand | Ammo: Heavy | Archetype: Rapid-Fire God Rolls: Demolitionist (also good: Reconstruction) + Hatchling (also good: Frenzy/Surrounded) ► Koraxis's is an odd GL, but that's not to say it's terrible. Its perk pool lets it switch between the "heavy ad clear" and "burst dps" roles rapid fires are known for. Plus, with a buff to Threadlings, this might become a sleeper pick. | Season 20 | Slot: Strand | Ammo: Heavy | Archetype: Rapid-Fire God Rolls: Demolitionist (also good: Reconstruction) + Hatchling (also good: Frenzy/Surrounded)

However, it still is an incredibly fun weapon to use and has at least some synergy with Solar 3.0. | Season 4 | Slot: Solar | Ammo: Heavy | Archetype: Exotic Exotic Perk: "Charging this weapon unleashes a giant continuous beam of death. These are the different Tier levels used for this tier list ranking:
- S Tier – Best: Highest ranking weapon types.
- A Tier – Strong: Very strong weapon types, but not on the same level as S Tier Choices.
- B Tier – Average: Decent choices that can be lethal in the hands of a skilled player.
- C Tier – Weak: The middle of the pack, somewhat mediocre.
- D Tier – Worst: Lagging behind the competition, these don’t have much to offer.
The list starts with the S Tier and moves down from there.
Raid weapon perks: Are they good enough?
Destiny has been around for a long time. The original was released 7 years ago! In all those years, many weapon perks have come and gone. In fact, these past few seasons, Bungie has really stepped it up in terms of introducing new perks that are equally creative and lethal.
In fact, some of the most powerful perks are unique to raid weapons. These are the highlights:
Deep Stone Crypt perks
- Redirection: Damaging rank-and-file combatants increases damage against more powerful ones.
- Recombination: Elemental final blows increase the damage of this weapon’s next shot.
- Reconstruction: This weapon slowly reloads itself over time, up to double capacity.
Vault of Glass perks
- Rewind Rounds: When this weapon’s magazine is empty, it refills from reserves based on the number of hits.
- Firefly: Precision kills with this weapon increase reload speed and cause the target to explode, dealing Solar damage to nearby enemies.
If you want to know which weapons can roll with these, just filter the table above to only show you Deep Stone Crypt or Vault of Glass weapons.
Destiny 2 Raid weapon farming: How to get them
Farming raid weapons is straightforward but certainly not easy. You’ll need a committed Fireteam and a few hours in front of you.
Farming newer raids
After years of complaints that raids (and dungeons) should be farmable, Bungie finally listened and introduced a system to farm the latest raids. This applies to all raids released after the release of the Vault of Glass.
Spoils of Conquest and chests
Once you have defeated the final boss, you’ll see a cache (chest) appear right next to the usual chest that spawns once the encounter is over. These caches are a great addition to the game as they let you use Spoils of Conquest (the raid currency) to purchase specific weapons and armor.
Purchasing a weapon or armor you have already found costs only 20 Spoils of Conquest, which can be earned from completing a full Raid, any Raid, including Garden of Salvation and Last Wish. This gives you more opportunities to find good rolls on the specific weapons you’re interested in.
On top of that, with these caches, you have a chance to get something you haven’t found before. They are more expensive, though, so think twice before using your precious Spoils of Conquest…
These Raid loot tables cover exactly what items can drop from every encounter.
Older raids
Up until recently, farming older raids, including Last Wish and Garden of Salvation, was impossible. These could only be completed once per character per week.
But Season of the Haunted (S17) introduced a Raid and Dungeon rotation. Every week, a different raid and dungeon are part of the weekly rotation, which means they become fully farmable, on top of also offering a Pinnacle reward each. This page covers the weekly Raid and dungeon rotation in depth.
Ranking criteria
For the record, as much as we tried to keep this list as objective as possible, it’s still based on our personal experience playing the PC version of the game.
Finally, if you’re wondering what criteria was used to build this Tier list, these are the main factors I took into account:
- Lethality: The higher the effective DPS and usability, the higher the ranking.
- Consistency: Some weapons may not have the highest DPS numbers, but they are so consistent, they more than make up for their lower DPS numbers.
- Ease of use: Similar to the point above, some weapons are very effective because they are easy to use and don’t require too much skill or setup. This is also rewarded with higher rankings.
- PVE/PVP Performance: High lethality in either PVE or PVP is equally valuable. However, a weapon that is good at both PVE and PVP should rank higher than one that is slightly better on only PVE or PVP.
- Fun factor: Not the most important factor, but it also helps if the weapon is damn fun to shoot with!
If you strongly disagree with some of the rankings here, feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section. By the way, what is your personal favorite?
