How to get Spoils of Conquest in Destiny 2 (and what to buy)

by | Apr 8, 2023

Raids hold some of the most unique and powerful gear in Destiny 2, but sometimes these items can be hard to farm. Spoils of Conquest exist to combat this struggle. This Destiny 2 currency can be a potent tool for farming endgame gear, but only if you know where to find it and how to farm it.

In this guide, we’ll cover what Spoils of Conquest is, what you can do with it, and, of course, how to farm it.

What are Spoils of Conquest

Spoils of Conquest is a currency in Destiny 2 that can only be obtained when completing raids encounters. You can store up to 240 Spoils in your inventory and use them to purchase various raid loot.

Where to spend Spoils of Conquest

The first place you can use Spoils of Conquest is at the end of some raids. The Deep Stone Crypt, Vault of Glass, Vow of the Disciple and King’s Fall raids all have loot caches after the final encounter, which allow you to purchase specific raid loot from their respective raids.

Regular weapons and armor cost 20 Spoils of Conquest, while Adept weapons cost 25. Note that to buy specific weapons and armor from the caches, you must first get them to drop from an encounter randomly.

Dreadnaught's Riches King's Fall

The Deep Stone Crypt and Vault of Glass vendors also allow you to purchase an additional encounter chest that gives you a chance at loot you haven’t gotten. These cost 60 Spoils of Conquest and are a great way to unlock weapons and armor for purchase. Vow of the Disciple does not have this feature.

Here are all the weapons you can obtain via these caches (you can purchase armor too):

Monument to Lost Lights

The other way to use your spoils is through the Monument to Lost Lights in The Tower. You can purchase some of the most potent exotics in the game at this kiosk. There are tens of exotics on offer, but do note that the exotics that cost spoils are raid exotics from raids that got vaulted.

These are all of the exotics you can purchase with Spoils of Conquest (and Exotic Ciphers) through the Monument to Lost Lights:

Now that we’ve covered the S-Tier loot you can obtain with Spoils of Conquest, let’s dive deeper into how you get the currency.

How to get Spoils of Conquest in Destiny 2

Getting Spoils of Conquest is relatively simple: just play your favorite raid. Every raid will grant you some amount of spoils; however, the newer activities tend to drop more. Here is a list of all the different ways you can currently get Spoils of Conquest:

Raid Spoils per encounter Spoils per chest
Root of Nightmares 5 5
King’s Fall 5 5
Vow of the Disciple 5 5
Vault of Glass 5 5
Legacy Raids 3 0

How many Spoils of Conquest per raid?

You can expect to earn up to 30 Spoils of Conquest when completing Vow of the Disciple or Vault of Glass while finding all hidden chests. King’s Fall can reward you with up to 35 Spoils due to its high number of encounters.

Root of Nightmares:

  • Root of Nightmares encounters grant five Spoils of Conquest. This is infinitely farmable.
  • Root of Nightmares’ secret chests grant five Spoils of Conquest. These only give spoils once per character per week.

King’s Fall:

  • King’s Fall encounters grant five Spoils of Conquest. This is infinitely farmable.
  • King’s Fall’s secret chests grant five Spoils of Conquest. These only give spoils once per character per week.

Vow of the Disciple:

  • Vow of the Disciple encounters grant five Spoils of Conquest. This is infinitely farmable.
  • Vow of the Disciple’s secret chests grant five Spoils of Conquest. These only give spoils once per character per week.

Vault of Glass:

  • Vault of Glass encounters grant five Spoils of Conquest after you’ve already completed that encounter that week. (example: The first clear of Oracles each week won’t grant you spoils, but subsequent completions will)
  • Vault of Glass’ secret chests grant five Spoils of Conquest. These only give spoils once per character per week.

Legacy Raids:

  • All legacy raids (currently Deep Stone Crypt, Garden of Salvation, and Last Wish) grant three Spoils of Conquest per encounter.

While gaining spoils passively through those methods is fine, there are a couple of ways to farm the currency—we’ll talk about that in the next section.

Spoils of Conquest farm

To farm Spoils of Conquest most optimally, you’ll want to repeatedly complete the Templar encounter in the Vault of Glass raid. This farm is not only short and easy: you also earn the maximum number of spoils per encounter (five). To do this efficiently, you’ll want to:

  1. Get a checkpoint for the Templar encounter.
  2. Have your fireteam join you in the raid, swap to a second character, and then join your fireteam in the raid (this method allows you to complete the encounter while saving the checkpoint for later clears!).
  3. Complete the encounter by defeating the Templar.
  4. Swap back to your first character.
  5. Repeat steps 2-4.

To add to this method, you can also farm Spoils of Conquest solo every week.

Spoils of conquest solo farm

You can quickly get 15+ Spoils of Conquest per week solo. To do this, loot the first secret chest in Vow of the Disciple, which can be achieved easily on all three characters weekly.

This video show’s you exactly how:

Additionally, there are a few other hidden chests that you can reach solo in other raids, but the methods to get to them are more complex and require going out of bounds.

This excellent video from Fallout actually covers every solo chest that is technically possible to find solo:

Your turn

You now know everything there is to know about Spoils of Conquest in Destiny 2, from where to get them to where to use them. More importantly, you now know they can even be farmed solo. 5 Spoils per chest may seem like nothing, but slow and steady wins the race!

Unless I am crazy I am pretty sure you can only get 5 spoils from the newest raid. Right now the only efficient farm is Nezarec.

You can get 60 spoils from chests, solo, per week.

2 chests in VoD. For the second one, grab Rhulk CP from d2checkpoint and backtrack (a few YT videos showing how it’s done).

1 chest in RoN. Grab Nezarec CP from d2checkpoint and backtrack (a few videos as well).

    1 chest in VoG

Strand trivializes most of this for those uncomfortable with certain maneuvers.

    Do on all 3 characters.

Great post! I’ve been struggling to figure out the best way to maximize my Spoils of Conquest. Your breakdown of which items are worth buying really helped me prioritize my spending. Thanks for the tips!
