Destiny 2 Fatebringer: God Rolls & How to get it

by | May 17, 2024

While raiders have been focusing on the new Pantheon Raid Gauntlet, it is important not to forget some of the classics, like Fatebringer from the Vault of Glass Raid.

Chapters

How good is Fatebringer?

Fatebringer is one of the classics. It comes with many good perks and falls in a favorable archetype, immediately making it a solid option. Hand Cannons are powerful in PvE, so naturally, Fatebringer will also be a potent option. It does face some competition, though. The Into the Light Hand Cannon, Midnight Coup, is a fierce contender, and it is arguably better because it has a similar perk pool and comes with an Origin Trait in Indomitability, making it a more appealing option in some players’ eyes.

In PvP, Fatebringer is a solid option too, but it is overshadowed by more powerful options like Rose or other Exotic Hand Cannons like Hawkmoon or Ace of Spades. This makes it hard to justify using it over these alternatives.

Overall, Fatebringer has been slightly power crept over time. The lack of an Origin Trait and fierce competition makes Fatebringer an acceptable but slightly outclassed pick in the current meta.

Best alternatives:

Fatebringer Perks and God Rolls

The Fatebringer hand cannon can roll with the following perks:

  • Perk 1: Rewind Rounds, Killing Wind, Tunnel Vision, Osmosis, Thresh, and Explosive Payload..
  • Perk 2: Eye of the Storm, Kill Clip, Frenzy, Opening Shot, Adrenaline Junkie, and Firefly.

Fatebringer PvE god rolls

PvE Roll: All-Around
Barrel Fluted Barrel
Magazine Tactical Magazine
Perk 1 Explosive Payload
Perk 2 Frenzy or Firefly
Masterwork Handling

Handling and Reload Speed are great on Fatebringer, making Fluted Barrel and Tactical Mag good options. While we may opt for Frenzy and Firefly, which buff Reload Speed, there will naturally be times when these perks are not activated, giving Tactical Mag some usage.

As for perks, Explosive Payload is naturally the best choice in the first column as it buffs damage by 10% on a precision hit and 15% on a body shot, making it a flat damage increase overall. In perk slot 2, Frenzy provides an additional 15% damage buff while making the gun feel much better to use, but Firefly provides some highly beneficial AOE damage, which can be great in add-dense activities like Onslaught.

Fatebringer PvP god rolls

PvE Roll: All-Around
Barrel Smallbore
Magazine Accurized Rounds
Perk 1 Explosive Payload
Perk 2 Eye of the Storm or Opening Shot
Masterwork Range

Boosting Range and Stabilit as high as possible on Fatebringer is a necessity in order for it to keep up with the competition, so Smallbore and Accurised Rounds with Range masterwork are best.

Explosive Payload is the best option in the first perk column as it provides some artificial Range while flinching your enemy, making duelling easier. When paired with Eye of the Storm or Opening Shot, Fatebringer feels nice to use and can be a consistent Hand Cannon in skilled hands.

How to get Fatebringer

Fatebringer is one of the weapons that drops from the Vault of Glass Raid and specifically comes from the Templar and Gatekeeper encounters, respectively. The Templar is already a straightforward boss to farm, meaning players can aim to get a Fatebringer quickly.

Alternatively, players can interact with the Raid cache after defeating Atheon at the end of the Raid, allowing players to spend Spoils of Conquest for random chances at a Fatebringer god roll. Spoils of Conquest are in abundance right now from the Pantheon activity, meaning now is the time to farm any Raid weapons you might be missing.
