As a final treat before the next saga of the Destiny franchise, Bungie created a new event akin to ones we’ve gotten in previous years: Rite of the Nine. This not only refreshed three legacy dungeons but also updated all twelve weapons associated with them.
Today, we’ll cover one of the reissued weapons from the fan-favorite Prophecy dungeon: Prosecutor.

How good is Prosecutor
Beyond being held back by its rather lackluster archetype, Prosecutor succeeds at surpassing most of its competition in terms of potency.
Dragonfly, Attrition Orbs, Rolling Storm, and Voltshot are all fun options that synergize well with any arc build you pair them with. This is the main niche Prosecutor fills for PvE, assuming you prefer auto rifles over other primary weapons.
Prosecutor isn’t too shabby in The Crucible either, containing consistency-boosting perks like Zen Moment, Tap the Trigger, and Target Lock. If 450RPM auto rifles ever get a buff, this is one to look out for. Prosecutor is A-Tier for PvE and A-Tier for PvP.

Prosecutor PvE god rolls
PvE Roll: All-Around | |
---|---|
Barrel | Fluted Barrel |
Magazine | Flared Magwell |
Perk 1 | Dragonfly or Attrition Orbs |
Perk 2 | Rolling Storm or Voltshot |
Masterwork | Handling or Reload Speed |
Origin Trait | Gravity Well |
Fluted Barrel, Flared Magwell, and either a handling or reload speed masterwork set us up for success with this roll. Especially because none of our selected main perks offer reload speed, gaining some extra from these makes a huge difference.
Perk column one is a toss-up between Dragonfly and Attrition Orbs, where the former is more of a fun pick and the latter works well with full builds. Similarly, the final column offers a choice between Rolling Storm and Voltshot; this decision, however, is solely dependent on whether you prefer working with Jolt or Bolt Charge.
Prosecutor PvP god rolls
PvP Roll: All-Around | |
---|---|
Barrel | Smallbore |
Magazine | Ricochet Rounds |
Perk 1 | Zen Moment (also good: Keep Away) |
Perk 2 | Target Lock (also good: Tap the Trigger) |
Masterwork | Stability or Range |
Origin Trait | Crossing Over |
For our Crucible roll, starting with Smallbore, Ricochet Rounds, and either a stability or range masterwork makes for a solid weapon to build on top of.
Zen Moment and Target Lock are our first picks in each column, both offering a bit more leniency to your accuracy. We also recommend Keep Away and Tap the Trigger as alternatives here, which provide similar benefits; choosing these over our first options is mostly a case of personal preference.
How to get the Prosecutor
Prosecutor is one of twelve reissued dungeon weapons available from the Rite of the Nine event. When Prophecy is featured, Prosecutor has a chance to drop from all three difficulties. Copies of the weapon also have a chance of dropping from the chest in the event’s hub, openable for 250 Nonary Manifolds.
Lastly, Prosecutor is attunable in the event hub, significantly increasing the chance of it dropping over other weapons in the pool. You can find the entire Prophecy loot table here.
