Destiny 2 Prosecutor: God Rolls and How to get it

by | Mar 6, 2024

Prophecy received yet another loot refresh with Update 7.3.5. Bringing a new origin trait, refreshed perk pools, and, most importantly, returning weapons, this update has brought Guardians back to the dungeon in flocks, in part for one of the best precision frame auto rifles ever released: Prosecutor.

How to get the Prosecutor

As we mentioned earlier, Prosecutor is a reissued Trials of the Nine weapon that now drops from the Prophecy dungeon. In specific, it will drop from the Phalanx Echo encounter as well as the two hidden chests throughout the dungeon after being obtained once before.

You can find the entire Prophecy loot table here.

How good is Prosecutor

Even though 450 RPM auto rifles are historically average, Prosecutor has a suite of perks that allow it to excel beyond the majority of its competition.

In PvE, the combination of Dragonfly and Voltshot is as fun as it is potent. Allowing you to generate massive explosions while also incorporating synergy with Arc builds, this version of Prosecutor allows it to compete with top PvE primaries like IKELOS_SMG_v1.0.3.

As for The Crucible, Prosecutor has a couple of neutral rolls that allow it to compete with even hand cannons and other meta options. While it’s nothing game-changing, auto rifle enjoyers and casual players alike will find some use in this weapon’s top rolls.

Best alternatives:

Prosecutor God Rolls and Perk Pool

The Prosecutor auto rifle can roll with the following perks:

  • Perk 1: Discord, Dragonfly, Gutshot Straight, Keep Away, Rewind Rounds, Zen Moment
  • Perk 2: Cascade Point, Frenzy, Golden Tricorn, Tap the Trigger, Target Lock, Voltshot
  • Origin Trait: Crossing Over

Prosecutor PvE God Roll

  • Barrel: Hammer-Forged Rifling
  • Magazine: Flared Magwell
  • Perk 1: Dragonfly (also good: Rewind Rounds)
  • Perk 2: Voltshot
  • Masterwork: Range

While precision frame auto rifles are typically lackluster in PvE, Prosecutor manages to excel with the right setup.

We’ll begin, as usual, by striving for high range and reload speed with Hammer-Forged Rifling, Flared Magwell, and a range masterwork. From here, the obvious path for most is Dragonfly and Voltshot, allowing you to destroy everything in sight with explosions while also opening up Arc buildcrafting potential. If you’re not into Dragonfly (or are playing a higher-difficulty activity where it may not be as potent), Rewind Rounds is also an outstanding choice for perk one.

Despite many still preferring IKELOS_SMG_v1.0.3 over this, Prosecutor does its best to excel in a weapon archetype that has been historically lacking in PvE.

Prosecutor PvP God Roll

  • Barrel: Hammer-Forged Rifling
  • Magazine: Ricochet Rounds
  • Perk 1: Zen Moment
  • Perk 2: Target Lock
  • Masterwork: Range

Having a much more conventional setup in The Crucible, Prosecutor is a simple yet potent option for PvP.

Begin by maximizing your range stat with Hammer-Forged Rifling, Ricochet Rounds, and a range masterwork.

For main column perks, there are a couple of good options. Zen Moment and Target Lock are our top picks, but Keep Away, Frenzy, and Tap the Trigger all have their strengths as well. As a general rule of thumb, however, you’ll want to use these two columns to gain extra range, stability, and damage.

While users of this weapon will still struggle to win duels with those running hand cannons, submachine guns, and pulse rifles, Prosecutor is a fun off-meta pick that has the potential to excel with the right set of buffs down the line.
