Into the Light was a great success. It released a terrific new activity, Onslaught, and marked the return of some of the best weapons the game has ever seen. Today, we focus on the weapon no one expected but ended up being insanely powerful: Edge Transit.

How good is Edge Transit
This reissued version of Edge Transit surprised the entire community. With the same perk pool that made Cataphract GL3 so popular upon its release, Edge Transit offers the best heavy grenade launcher experience possible while being extremely easy to obtain.
The only place where Edge Transit lacks is PvP, although that’s to be expected. While it doesn’t do anything wrong necessarily, there’s no reason to farm an Edge Transit over anything else if you’re a Crucible player.
Tier Rank & “Roles”: Edge Transit is S-Tier in PvE (Boss Damage) and B-Tier in PvP.

Edge Transit Perks and God Rolls
The Edge Transit heavy grenade launcher can roll with the following perks:
- Perk 1: Chain Reaction, Cascade Point, Impulse Amplifier, Field Prep, Ambitious Assassin, Envious Assassin, Repulsor Brace
- Perk 2: Frenzy, Destabilizing Rounds, Deconstruct, One for All, Bait and Switch, Full Court, Explosive Light
- Origin Trait: Indomitability
Edge Transit PvE god roll
PvE Roll: Boss Damage | |
---|---|
Launcher Barrel | Quick Launch |
Magazine | Spike Grenades |
Perk 1 | Envious Assassin (also good: Cascade Point) |
Perk 2 | Bait and Switch |
Masterwork | Velocity or Handling |
For PvE, we’ll begin with Quick Launch, Spike Grenades, and either a velocity or handling masterwork.
From there, any veteran player knows the exact perk combo we’re going to suggest: Envious Assassin and Bait and Switch. This combination made Cataphract GL3 so popular a couple of months ago and continues to be the dominant choice for heavy grenade launchers in the current meta.
The only swap we’d ever recommend making is Cascade Point instead of Envious Assassin, solely for high burst damage (or simply for fun) if that’s something you’re interested in. However, nine times out of ten, Envious Assassin is the dominant pick regardless.
Recommended Loadout: The Mountaintop, Sunshot, Edge Transit.
Edge Transit PvP god roll
- Launcher Barrel: Volatile Launch
- Magazine: High-Velocity Rounds
- Perk 1: Impulse Amplifier
- Perk 2: Explosive Light
- Masterwork: Velocity
PvP Roll: All-Around | |
---|---|
Launcher Barrel | Volatile Launch |
Magazine | High-Velocity Rounds |
Perk 1 | Impulse Amplifier |
Perk 2 | Explosive Light |
Masterwork | Velocity |
Edge Transit simply isn’t as powerful in The Crucible, but that doesn’t stop it from excelling with the right combination of perks. Volatile Launch, High-Velocity Rounds, and a velocity masterwork allow for a nice split between velocity and blast radius, two vital stats in PvP.
Impulse Amplifier is an easy pick in column one, making the weapon significantly easier to use against moving Guardians. As for your final perk, Explosive Light is our pick, although solely for the additional blast radius it offers. Realistically, this final perk doesn’t make all that big of a difference either way, so we recommend experimenting to find what works for you.
How to get Edge Transit
You can obtain Edge Transit by participating in Onslaught activities. Brave weapons are guaranteed to drop when completing 10 waves but can also randomly drop throughout the activity. Clearing 50 waves in a single run will reward you with extra drops.
With Update 8.0.5, you can now visit Zavala in the Tower to access the new Onslaught Attunement menu.
There, you can attune to a single BRAVE Arsenal weapon, increasing its drop chance by 60% in Onslaught. Onslaught Attunement has no cooldown or cost, so you can swap your chosen weapon at any time. We cover all Brave Weapons here.
You can find our D2 Weapon God Roll hub here.
