The guide below was published on May 1, 2024: Initially released as a Pinnacle weapon from the Vanguard, the Wendigo GL3 was sunsetted back in 2020. But this Void Adaptive Grenade launcher returned to us this season as the Nightfall weapon this week.

In this guide, we tell you where to find the weapon, how to farm it, and what are the best rolls for PvE and PvP.

How to get Wendigo GL3

A returning weapon from the Destiny Content Vault, Wendigo GL3 used to be the best DPS Power weapon in the entire game. And while it’s not as strong as it once was, the Wendigo GL3 is still an exceptional grenade launcher.

Nightfall Weapon rotation this Season

There are several Nightfall-exclusive weapons in total, but as of Season of Defiance (S20), only six are currently on rotation, with only one dropping each week. This means you can only farm the Wendigo GL3 once every six weeks!

How good is the Wendigo GL3 today

Heavy ammo grenade launchers are simply in a bad place right now, and no matter how good the Wendigo GL3 is, it cannot excel in the current meta. The Lightfall expansion will definitely bring some nerfs and buffs that will change the meta but don’t expect the Wendigo to suddenly become a top-tier option… It will be much more useful than it currently is, but Rocket launchers will still be superior, at least for PvE.

Because of all of this, we consider the Wendigo GL3 a B Tier weapon.

Best Wendigo GL3 Rolls for PvE and PvP

Once you’ve identified the right week to farm, you’ll want to run as many Nightfalls (and at the higher difficulty possible) as possible to increase your chances of finding a god roll. Among the several strong possible rolls out there, these are our favorites, the combinations we consider god rolls.

In terms of perks, you want Volatile Launch or Quick Launch, Spike Grenades, Auto-Loading Holster, and Explosive Light. You can go for Cascade Point in the second perk slot; however, it’s a tad too niche. In most situations, Explosive Light will be the superior choice. Clown Cartridge in slot 1 isn’t too terrible, either.

• Perk 1: Auto-Loading Holster
• Perk 2: Explosive Light

Wendigo GL3 Adept farm: Worth it?

If you’re courageous enough to tackle Nightfalls on Grandmaster difficulty once they become available later this season, you could earn an Adept version of the Wendigo GL3. On top of serving as bragging rights, Adept variants of weapons have more perks per column, give even more stats when Masterworked, and can accept unique Adept mods.
