Released alongside the Witch Queen expansion, Vow of the Disciple is often considered Bungie’s best raid to date. Breathtaking locations, truly challenging mechanics that require team coordination, and excellent loot, all help this raid stand out.
To others, Vow of the Disciple is just fine, but either way, Guardians continue to run on a weekly basis simply because of the excellent loot it offers, including top-tier legendary weapons and great-looking armor.

Vow of the Disciple loot pool: Weapons
On top of featuring top-tier stats, Vow of the Discipline weapons also come with an extremely good Origin trait specific to this raid.

Finally, note that all of the Vow of the Disciple raid weapons can be crafted, making the search for your god roll a little easier:
Vow of the Disciple Raid weapons: Rolls & Perks
7. Lubrae’s Ruin
While Lubrae’s Ruin has amazing lore, it lacks in numerous key gameplay areas. Just like other glaives, the ranged ability feels weak, and the melee attack can get you into trouble if you’re not careful. Not to mention, some melee-based traits don’t even work with the glaive melee attack, making Lubrae’s Ruin feel terrible to wield.
PVE God roll:
- Perk 1: Grave Robber
- Perk 2: Swashbuckler

6. Collective Obligation
Excels in PVE
With the ability to debuff everything in sight, Collective Obligation can shine as no other weapon can. That being said, you’re almost required to create a build with it to make it worth your exotic slot. While this weapon has amazing potential, having to work to make your exotic feel “exotic” isn’t great.
Exotic Perk: “This weapon leeches Void debuffs when damaging targets that are suppressed, weakened, or volatile. Once charged, damage from this weapon applies the same Void debuffs that were leeched. Weapon automatically reloads when you gain Devour, a Void overshield, or become invisible.”

5. Cataclysmic
Excels in PVE
Cataclysmic is the first raid LFR we’ve gotten, and it wears that title with pride. Containing some of the best damage perks in the game for heavies (High-Impact Reserves and Focused Fury), this weapon can pump out tons of total damage. That said, it is still simply outclassed by Reed’s Regret and other LFRs.
PVE God roll:
- Perk 1: Fourth Time’s The Charm
- Perk 2: Focused Fury (also good: High-Impact Reserves)

4. Submission
Excels in PVE and PVP
Containing alright stats and a wide variety of interesting perk combinations, Submission is a strong option overall. While it isn’t the best of the best in either PVE or PVP, it can hold its ground in both, making it a great pick if you don’t have anything better.
PVE God roll:
- Perk 1: Overflow (also good: Subsistence)
- Perk 2: Frenzy (also good: Swashbuckler)
PVP God roll:
- Perk 1: Perpetual Motion
- Perk 2: Killing Wind

3. Deliverance
Excels in PVE
Finally, our prayers have been answered, Bungie has delivered (excuse the pun) a Stasis Fusion Rifle, and it’s in the kinetic slot, allowing you to run a primary in your secondary weapon slot.
Deliverance can roll with some fantastic perks for PvE, and while it won’t be melting through bosses, it’s extremely efficient at dealing with large groups of enemies. You’ll want to keep an eye out for Deepsight Resonance versions of this weapon, so you can craft your perfect God roll.
We will look for a Charge Time Masterwork, Chill Clip to detonate enemies, and Perpetual Motion to improve your reload speed, stability, and handling while moving – which you’ll be doing a lot of in raids. Our crafted perk should be Souldrinker which will heal us based on how many shots you land before reloading.
In summary: There is no end to the fun you can have with this weapon in any arena; it sounds fantastic to fire, and eliminated enemies are frozen in Stasis and then shattered into thousands of pieces… What’s not to love?!
PVE God roll:
- Perk 1: Perpetual Motion (Demolitionist)
- Perk 2: Chill Clip (Adrenaline Junkie)

2. Insidious
Excels in PVE and PVP
With Go Figure, Blast Furnace, and Sacred Provenance all being community favorites, it’s no surprise that the next 4-burst Pulse Rifle down the line is just as great.
There’s nothing to dislike about Insidious. With a 0.73s TTK in The Crucible, 4-burst Pulses are, in general, a strong pick. They’re easy to use, have good range, and don’t have any major flaws in terms of overall performance. And with arguably the best stats of all the Aggressive Frame Pulse Rifles, Insidious feels amazing to shoot in both PVE and PVP.
Plus, with perk rolls like Rapid Hit + Rampage that are universally great or more unique ones like Dragonfly + One for All, this Pulse has something for everyone.
The first 4-burst Pulse Rifle in over two years, Insidious simply feels good to shoot and comes with some fantastic perks. And with Arc 3.0 on the horizon, Insidious could become even stronger in the coming months.
PVE God roll:
- Perk 1: Rapid Hit (also good: Dragonfly)
- Perk 2: Rampage
PVP God roll:
- Perk 1: Rapid Hit (also good: Heating Up)
- Perk 2: Adrenaline Junkie (also good: Rampage)

1. Forbearance
Excels in PVE
Forbearance is arguably the best ad clear special weapon in the game–and with a roll that is only on one other Grenade Launcher, this thing is as unique as it is powerful.
To start, Forbearance is one of few Wave Frame Grenade Launchers. These weapons are some of the most unique legendaries in the game and have been loved by all since their debut in Season of Dawn. With great ease of use and ad clear potential, Forbearance being a Wave Frame already makes it A-tier.
What makes it S-tier is a specific perk combination that can only roll on one other Special Grenade Launcher. That Grenade Launcher is Salvager’s Salvo, and the perk roll is Ambitious Assassin + Chain Reaction. Ambitious Assassin only requires one kill to make the next magazine load with 2 shots, making it great on any Breech Loaded Grenade Launcher.
Moving to the second perk, Chain Reaction is usually reserved for Heavy Weapons; the only two exceptions to this rule are Salvo and Forbearance. With how big the wave is from each Forbearance shot, Chain Reaction can make anything around you explode in an instant.
Overall, Forbearance is extremely powerful in any PVE content you put it against and doesn’t have many downsides. With its perks, Origin Trait, frame, and so much more, there’s no question that this is the best weapon to come from The Witch Queen.
PVE God roll:
- Perk 1: Coming soon (still missing in API databases)…
- Perk 2: Coming soon (still missing in API databases)…

Vow of the Disciple Armor
As with every other raid in Destiny 2, the Vow of the Disciple also offers one set of armor for each class:
- Resonant Fury Helmet
- Resonant Fury Chest
- Resonant Fury Arms
- Resonant Fury Legs
- Resonant Fury Class item

Vow of the Disciple loot pool: Armor sets
At first glance, these sets don’t look as exciting as those found in the Prophecy or Grasp of Avarice dungeons, but many are liking these new sets a lot.

Master Vow of the Disciple Loot
Just like the Vault of Glass raid, Vow of the Disciple on Master mode can reward you with powerful Adept weapons.

Vow of the Disciple Adept loot
Completing the Vow of the Disciple on Master mode won’t be enough, though, as you’ll have to also complete the weekly Master challenge for a chance to acquire a random Adept weapon.
Adept Vow weapons follow a knockout system. Every week you complete the challenge, a new Adept weapon will drop. Once you have acquired all Adept Vow of the Disciple weapons, random Adept weapons will drop.
You can find this week’s Vow Master Challenge here.
Vow of the Disciple Exotic items
Finally, this raid also features two exclusive items: An Exotic Sparrow and an Exotic Ghost Shell:

Vow of the Disciple loot: The Gouging Light sparrow

How to farm the Vow of the Disciple
Before the release of the Deep Stone Crypt in 2020, farming raids in Destiny 2 was impossible as they could only be completed once per character per week. That meant you only had a maximum of three shots per week to find what you were looking for.
Vow of the Disciple, however, can be farmed with Spoils of Conquest, a raid-specific currency you earn while completing raid encounters. This applies to any raid currently available. Once you have defeated the final boss, you’ll see the Lubrae’s Ruin appear. There you can use your Spoils of Conquest to purchase weapons and armor:

Destiny 2’s Vow of the Disciple loot pool
Note you can only purchase weapons and armor you have previously earned yourself by completing encounters. Each item costs only 20 Spoils of Conquest. This gives you more opportunities to find good rolls on the specific gear you’re interested in.
The Vault of Glass and Deep Stone Crypt raids also offer “caches” which offer items you haven’t earned yourself for a higher cost (60 Spoils). This feature is surprisingly missing in the Vow of the Disciple.
