Destiny 2 Midnight Coup: God Rolls and How to get it

The BRAVE Arsenal has just been revealed, and Midnight Coup is among the list of iconic weapons scheduled to return with Into The Light.

The rolls here can’t be tested, and the god rolls suggested are speculation based on our knowledge of current perks, but we will confirm as soon as we get our hands on the weapon.

How good is Midnight Coup

Midnight Coup is returning as a 140RPM Kinetic Weapon, putting it in direct competition with powerful weapons like Fatebringer, Zaouli’s Bane, and even Sunshot, which fill the Hand Cannon role similarly to Midnight Coup.

In PvP, Midnight Coup will be a solid pick. It comes with some general consistency perks like Moving Target or Zen Moment, making it a decent option for dueling. Being an Adaptive Frame Hand Cannon helps, too, as this frame is quite powerful in PvP right now, potentially making Midnight Coup quite the sleeper pick in PvP.

In PvE, Midnight Coup has a plethora of perks available. It does have the classic Outlaw and Rampage combo, however, we don’t see this being as good as it once was. Shoot to Loot, Firefly and Kinetic Tremors are all solid options and may tempt players to try to get their hands on it, as Midnight Coup will be the second Hand Cannon to come with Kinetic Tremors, only after Spare Rations (which isn’t very good).

Midnight Coup Perks and God Rolls

The Midnight Coup Hand Cannon comes with the following perks:

• Perk 1: Outlaw, Firefly, Shoot to Loot, Explosive Payload, Moving Target, Attrition Orbs, and Enlightened Action
• Perk 2: Rampage, Kinetic Tremors, Zen Moment, One for All, Frenzy, Opening Shot, and Desperate Measures
• Origin Trait: Indomitability

Range is important on Midnight Coup due to its low base range, meaning that Hammer-Forged Rifling is the best pick here. Meanwhile, Tactical Mag boosts the magazine size while also improving Stability and Reload Speed, making it the clear choice.

Firefly provides some much-needed AoE damage as Hand Cannons typically struggle with add-clear, but Explosive is a decent utility-based alternative. But what sets Midnight Coup apart is the combination of Firefly with One for All. A single kill with Firefly can single-handedly proc One For All, giving you an instant 35% damage buff thanks to One for All.

Recommended Loadout: Midnight Coup, Forbearance, or any Fusion Rifle, Gjallarhorn.

Midnight Coup PvP god roll

Range is the name of the game on PvP Hand Cannons, meaning Hammer-Forged Rifling and Accurised Rounds are the best picks for our barrel and magazine slots.

Moving Target is generally a pretty good perk for PvP due to it providing consistency, and this will be no different on Midnight Coup. In perk slot 2, players can either go all in for some ranged kills with Opening Shot or a shorter range, more consistent dueling option in Zen Moment. Both work well, but Zen Moment isn’t as effective on weapons like Hand Cannons compared to higher RPM weapon types.

How to get Midnight Coup

Players can hope to obtain Midnight Coup from each ‘set’ of Onslaught. A set seems to be every ten waves of the horde-based game mode, meaning it may take some time to get a perfect roll. Alternatively, players should be able to use the ‘Hype’ reputation they build during Into the Light activities in the Hall of Champions by opening certain reward chests, dropping versions of the Midnight Coup and other BRAVE arsenal weapons.

It is important to note that the actual release date for Midnight Coup is unclear, as Bungie has clarified that only half of the BRAVE arsenal will be available on Into the Light. Midnight Coup is not on the list, but we have been told that the remainder “will unlock one week at a time each week through the week of May 21”, meaning we may be waiting a while to play with Midnight Coup again.
