Destiny 2 Succession: God Rolls and How to get it

by | Aug 13, 2024

Into the Light was a great success. It released a terrific new activity, Onslaught, and marked the return of some of the best weapons the game has ever seen. Today, we focus on a weapon that still exists in its original form, but now has a new BRAVE variant as well: the Succession sniper rifle.

Chapters

How good is Succession

Succession’s original variant is a popular sniper rifle that still holds up today, and its new BRAVE version follows that same trend.

In PvE, Succession has a host of perks that allow it to excel in activities of all difficulty levels. While sniper rifles continue to be generally lackluster compared to other options, this one continues to make a name for itself through its high damage per shot and potent perk combinations.

Succession falls into a similar category in The Crucible, where it has everything it needs to excel against your fellow Guardians. From its nice feel to its outstanding selection of perks, both versions of Succession are great choices for players who prefer aggressive frame snipers.

Tier Rank & “Roles”: Just like its original variant, the new version of Succession is S-Tier in both PvE (Champion & Boss Damage) and PvP.

Best alternatives:

Succession Perks and God Rolls

The Succession sniper rifle (BRAVE variant) can roll with the following perks:

  • Perk 1: Moving Target, No Distractions, Lead from Gold, Reconstruction, Firmly Planted, Demolitionist, Discord
  • Perk 2: Snapshot Sights, Redirection, Recombination, Vorpal Weapon, Focused Fury, Firing Line, Box Breathing, Desperate Measures
  • Origin Trait: Indomitability

PvE Roll: Champion & Boss Damage

Perk 1 Reconstruction (also good: Lead from Gold)
Perk 2 Recombination (also good: Firing Line)
Masterwork Handling

For PvE, we’ll start Succession off by opting for Fluted Barrel, Extended Mag, and Handling. While Extended Mag is typically an unpopular choice, you’ll never be affected by the slow reload speed with the perk combination we’re going for, so the extra bullet in the magazine is worth it.

Speaking of our perk choices, we’re going for the classic combo of Reconstruction and Recombination. While Firing Line is a close contender in the second column (if you’re in a fireteam), Recombination’s buffed shot is simply too potent in such a wide range of scenarios.

Recommended Loadout: Succession, Sunshot, Apex Predator.

Succession PvP god roll

PvP Roll: All-Around
Barrel Fluted Barrel
Magazine Accurized Rounds
Perk 1 Moving Target
Perk 2 Snapshot Sights
Masterwork Handling

In The Crucible, Succession’s god roll is relatively simple. Start by opting for high handling, range, and stability through Fluted Barrel, Accurized Rounds, and a handling masterwork.

Jumping over to perk two, Snapshot Sights is the clear winner, a perk that is basically necessary on any sniper you plan on using in PvP. As for perk one, our choice is Moving Target. However, if you have a habit of standing still while finding the perfect shot, something like Firmly Planted or No Distractions may be for you.

How to get Succession (Brave)

You can obtain Succession by participating in Onslaught activities. Brave weapons are guaranteed to drop when completing 10 waves but can also randomly drop throughout the activity. Clearing 50 waves in a single run will reward you with extra drops.

With Update 8.0.5, you can now visit Zavala in the Tower to access the new Onslaught Attunement menu.

There, you can attune to a single BRAVE Arsenal weapon, increasing its drop chance by 60% in Onslaught. Onslaught Attunement has no cooldown or cost, so you can swap your chosen weapon at any time. We cover all Brave Weapons here.
