Destiny 2 Blast Furnace: God Rolls and How to get it

by | Mar 27, 2024

With the recent Bungie Developer Livestream, we’ve got confirmation of 12 returning weapons, and one of these just so happens to be Blast Furnace. An iconic pulse rifle from the days of Black Armory, it’s being refreshed with new perks, a new origin trait, and the ability to choose barrels over scopes.

While we can’t confirm the god rolls just now, we’ll be speculating what they will be, courtesy of Bungie’s blog post.

How to get Blast Furnace

To unlock Blast Furnace, players will first need to complete the weapon quest associated with it, after which it will drop from Onslaught or can be rolled for at Shaxx’s version of Xur’s Treasure Horde.

Additionally, players can attune to the weapon at one of Shaxx’s holograms for better chances, and it can even drop with an ultra-rare version, complete with a unique shader and curated roll. We will be covering the Brave Weapons Rotation here.

How good will Blast Furnace be?

Being a Kinetic Aggressive Burst pulse rifle means it rubs up against the likes of Belisarius-D, Disparity, and Sacred Providence, to name a few. While they can land two burst kills, their TTK is slightly longer than that of the more widely used High-Impact pulse rifles. But what they lack in speed, they make up for in stats, so expect Blast Furnace to follow suit.

In PvE, pulse rifles rank low in the usage department. Even with some buffs, pulses are outmatched by most other weapons, with the outliers being the exotics like Graviton Lance and Revision Zero. However, Blast Furnace get solid PvE perks that might let it stand out in the meta.

Blast Furnace Perks and God Rolls

The Blast Furnace Pulse Rifle comes with the following perks:

  • Perk 1: Zen Moment, Snapshot, Shoot to Loot, Keep Away, Perpetual Motion, Kinetic Tremors, and Headseeker
  • Perk 2: Kill Clip, Firefly, One for All, Frenzy, Rampage, Rapid-Hit, and Desperate Measures.
  • Origin Trait: Indomitability

Blast Furnace PvE god roll

  • Barrel: Chambered Compensator (if applicable)
  • Magazine: Tactical Mag (if applicable)
  • Perk 1: Kinetic Tremors
  • Perk 2: Desperate Measures or Frenzy
  • Masterwork: Reload Speed

Pulses in PvE have seen highs and lows, but Blast Furnace might be able to break the mold they have been in for quite some time. Its amazing base stats mean not much needs to be kicked up, but as is standard with Aggressive pulse rifles, recoil control is paramount. So we’ll be using Chambered Compensator to keep it stable, and for the magazine, Tactical Mag is great for the stability bump as well as an extra burst in the mag.

For perk 1, it’s a “no contest” for Kinetic Tremors. Shoot to Loot, while nice to have, feels like a waste when a free damage perk is in the same slot. Since BF fires 4 shots a burst, it’ll only take 3 bursts to activate it, as opposed to 4 on all others. Perk 2 is a toss-up between Desperate Measures or Frenzy. DM requires a kill with the weapon or abilities to activate, whereas Frenzy doesn’t, so pick based on the content you plan to bring it in to.

Blast Furnace PvP god roll

  • Barrel: Arrowhead Break (if applicable)
  • Magazine: Accurized Rounds (if applicable)
  • Perk 1: Zen Moment or Headseeker
  • Perk 2: Kill Clip or Rapid-Hit
  • Masterwork: Stability

PvP is where Blast Furnace will shine. A base of 79 range and 64 stability puts it above all other pulses in its frame, with the only downside being the base 65 recoil, but that’s easily fixable with Arrowhead Break, which will put it to 95 before a Counterbalance Stock mods bumps it to 100. Accurized Rounds will provide a +10 to your range, which is perfect for fighting longer range weapons.

Perk 1 has so many good PvP perks that it’s hard to narrow them down, but Zen Moment or Headseeker are what most are going to look for. Zen Moment will keep your reticle on target throughout the duel, and Headseeker can help push the fight in your favor if you miss a crit or two. Same goes for Perk 2, but Kill Clip and Rapid-Hit are a cut above. Kill Clip will put your TTK at that of High-Impact pulses and Rapit-Hit will bump Stability almost to 100 in one burst!
