How good is the Cataphract GL3?

Grenade Launchers aren’t exactly the go-to pick for boss damage as their DPS (damage-per-second) is lower than top tier Rocket Launchers such as Apex Predator or Cold Comfort. However, Cataphract has a couple of tricks up its sleeve that no other Grenade Launcher has.This GL has access to the buffed Envious Assassin and the potent Bait and Switch, making it a top option for burst DPS.

In PvP, Cataphract is decent. It comes with Impulse Amplifier, which is a solid perk. Grenade Launchers are reliable options for PvP as they can typically secure very easy kills on multiple targets if you are accurate.

All in all, the Cataphract GL3 is easily S Tier for PvE and A tier for PvP.

The Cataphract GL3 grenade launcher can roll with the following perks:

• Perk 2: Chain Reaction, Hatchling, Bait and Switch, Explosive Light, Cascade Point, Full Court, Vorpal Weapon

Grenade Launcher barrels don’t mean much, as they are seen chiefly as stat bonuses. Quick Launch is the best option as it comes with a bump to Velocity and Handling, making it the best choice. With Magazines, there is only really one option- Spike Grenades. These slightly increase your damage, meaning it is the best pick.

In perk slot 1, Envious Assassin is the best choice. However, players should pay attention to Auto-Loading Holster in a DPS swap-rotation loadout. In perk slot 2, Bait and Switch is the best choice as it is a 35% increase to your weapon damage, but if you get unlucky, Explosive Light isn’t an unusable alternative either.

For PvP, perks don’t matter much, but having the best is still good. Quick Launch helps by increasing the Velocity and Handling, making it easier to use, and Proximity Grenades helps to secure kills.

In perk slot 1, Impulse Amplifier is the best choice as it increases projectile speed, making the shots easier to hit. For slot 2, there are several options. Full Court increases damage after 0.2s travel time, meaning that this will usually come into effect. Alternatively, Vorpal Weapon or Chain Reaction can both work too.

How to get Cataphract GL3

To get Cataphract, you’ll have to hop into Trials of Osiris. Once you obtain this, you can focus your Trials Engrams into the Grenade Launcher.Cataphract GL3 can also randomly drop after completing Trials matches.
