Solstice has finally returned, and with it, the Precision Frame Compass Rose Shotgun has returned as well. Here is how to get it, the best rolls, and how good it is in the current meta.

How good is Compass Rose

Compass Rose is shaping up to be a serious contender in the Crucible. Some have considered it an alternative to the Matador 64 (as grinding that Shotgun can be a pain) due to its favorable archetype and excellent perk pool. The shotgun’s base stats are fantastic, too, boasting a base range of 62, which is only three less than the Matador’s 65.

In PvE, Compass Rose most likely won’t be making any waves. Rapid-fire shotguns are generally preferred for their increased ammo reserves, but Compass Rose does have some decent perks, like One-Two Punch or Trench Barrel, that may entice some players.

Overall, Compass Rose is an excellent pick for PvP but one to skip for PvE.

Compass Rose Perks and God Rolls

The Compass Rose solar shotgun can roll with the following perks.

• Perk 1: Grave Robber, Dual Loader, To The Pain, Slickdraw, Slideshot, Threat Detector, and Threat Remover.
• Perk 2: Snapshot Sights, Trench Barrel, Vorpal Weapon, Incandescent, Barrel Constrictor, One-Two Punch, and Opening Shot.
• Origin Trait: Dream Work, Nadir Focus.

Barrel Shroud and Tactical Mag are the best picks for our Barrel and Magazine as they help boost our Handling and Reload Speed, respectively. This, combined with a Handling Masterwork, makes Compass Rose feel very nice to use.

For our perks, Grave Robber is the only standout option in perk slot one due to its synergy with Trench Barrel and One-Two Punch, which are our picks for perk slot two due to the strength of melee-focused builds right now.

The barrel choice on this Shotgun is incredibly interesting. While we think Smallbore is the safest option all-around due to the small bump to Stability and Range, there is an argument to be made for Rifled Barrel. Slickdraw boosts our Handling high enough, and the extra range from Rifled Barrel could be good, too. Barrel Shroud is another option that is good if you decide to go for Threat Detector over Slickdraw, so you have better base handling.

Accurised Rounds is a no-brainer for the magazine slot due to the flat increase in Compass Rose’s range. Slickdraw is a very exciting perk to have on a Shotgun because it boosts our Handling to 100 while also improving the ready animation speed. However, if you don’t like the feel of Slickdraw, Threat Detector is a suitable alternative.

Opening Shot is the winner in the second perk slot because it maxes out our range stat, capping it at 6.71m. However, Snapshot Sights is a personal favorite of mine as it simply makes any and all weapons feel amazing to use, so definitely consider that as an alternative.

How to get Compass Rose

Compass Rose is an exclusive weapon from the Solstice event. You can only obtain it through Solstice-related activities, so if you miss it now, you’ll have to wait until Solstice returns sometime next year.

Bonfire Bash will be the primary method of obtaining the Compass Rose as it is the main activity of Solstice of Heroes, but there should be some general drops for completing triumphs or objectives throughout the event, too, which could drop the Compass Rose. However, if you want to farm the shotgun, Bonfire Bash is the route to take. We cover all Solstice weapons here.
