► Compass Rose has soared in strength with the recent update to its perk pool. The inclusion of Slickdraw and Opening Shot and a favorable shotgun archetype makes Compass Rose a true contender for the top spot for Shotguns.

► Crowning Duologue has had a serious glow-up since its last iteration. Now, with top-tier perks like Reconstruction and Bait and Switch, It is much better than it once was. However, despite this drastic upgrade, it doesn’t quite reach the top dogs like Apex Predator due to its weaker archetype.

► Fortunate Star has some tricks up its sleeve that help it in the current meta (which disfavors bows). Subclass-specific perks are always a win, and when the combo of Repulsor Brace and Destabilizing Rounds is present, it boosts the weapon's viability massively.

PvE God Roll: Feeding Frenzy (also good: Stats for All) + Headstone (also good: Multikill Clip)

► Only available during the Solstice seasonal event, Something New is relatively inaccessible and doesn't have the stats or perks to make up for it. Eyasluna is still the best Stasis hand cannon by far, and numerous other 120 RPM hand cannons excel further than Something New.
Season 17

PvE God Roll: Feeding Frenzy (also good: Stats for All) + Headstone (also good: Multikill Clip)

These are the different Tier levels used for our list:

  • S+ Tier – Meta: Weapons so good they singlehandedly shifted the current meta
  • S Tier – Best: Highest ranking weapons.
  • A Tier – Strong: Very strong weapons, but not on the same level as S Tier Choices.
  • B Tier – Average: Either decent weapons or weapons that fit a very specific niche/use case.
  • C Tier – Weak: Mediocre weapons that are easily outclassed by the competition.
  • D Tier – Worst: Weapons that don’t have much to offer and don’t deserve your attention.

🚨 Remember that all Solstice weapons now feature an exclusive Origin Trait: Dream Work.

Best Destiny 2 Solstice weapons in 2024

This section covers the top Solstice weapons in Destiny 2 today.

Compass Rose preview Destiny 2

Compass Rose

Crucible logo Destiny 2 Excels in PvP

Compass Rose is shaping up to be a serious contender in the Crucible. Some have considered it an alternative to the Matador 64 (as grinding that Shotgun can be a pain) due to its favorable archetype and excellent perk pool. The shotgun’s base stats are fantastic, too, boasting a base range of 62, which is only three less than the Matador’s 65.

In PvE, Compass Rose most likely won’t be making any waves. Rapid-fire shotguns are generally preferred for their increased ammo reserves, but Compass Rose does have some decent perks, like One-Two Punch or Trench Barrel, that may entice some players. These are the top Compass Rose God Rolls:

  • PvP God roll: Slickdraw (also good: Threat Detector) + Opening Shot (also good: Snapshot Sights)

Fortunate Star preview Destiny 2

Fortunate Star

PVE Vanguard logo Destiny 2Excels in PvE

Fortunate Star is already a niche weapon due to it being a Bow. Bows are typically not favored among the community as they are pretty slow to add clear and don’t deal enough damage to warrant use for clearing out beefier orange and yellow bar enemies. However, Fortunate Star does have some tricks up its sleeve that may help it in the meta. Subclass-specific perks are always a win, and when the combo of Repulsor Brace and Destabilizing Rounds is present, it boosts the weapon’s viability massively.

Again, in PvP, Bows aren’t too hot, but perks like Opening Shot, Archer’s Gambit, and Hip-Fire Grip help this bow become more viable in the Crucible. With a combination of Hip-Fire Grip and Archer’s Gambit, you can get a true hip-fire bow or a more tried-and-true combo of Opening Shot and Archer’s Tempo, which may be more your fancy. These are the top Fortunate Star God Rolls:

  • PvE God roll: Repulsor Brace (also good: Archer’s Tempo) + Destabilizing Rounds (also good: Golden Tricorn)

Crowning Duologue preview Destiny 2

Crowning Duologue

PVE Vanguard logo Destiny 2Excels in PvE

Crowning Duologue has had a serious glow-up since its last iteration. Now, with top-tier perks like Reconstruction, Auto-Loading Holster, Bait and Switch, and alternative options like Bipod and Envious Assassin, It is much better than it once was.

However, despite this drastic upgrade, it doesn’t quite reach the top dogs like Apex Predator due to its poor archetype. Precision Frame archetypes simply are not as good as Adaptive Rockets, meaning Crowning Duologue is naturally weaker than its Adaptive counterparts, even if the perk pool is solid.

Overall, Crowning Duologue is a solid option and is arguably the best Strand Rocket Launcher in the game (which can be good for matching surges), but it isn’t beating the top dogs. These are the top Crowning Duologue God Rolls:

  • PvE God roll: Reconstruction (Auto-Loading Holster) + Bait and Switch
