Destiny 2 Nessa’s Oblation: God Rolls and How to get it

by | Mar 13, 2023

Nessa’s Oblation is a new Void Shotgun from the Root of Nightmares raid.  Nessa’s Oblation appears to be a good replacement for the fan-favorite First In, Last Out (which is extremely annoying to farm). Plus, given the potency of double Slug Shotgun loadouts for DPS and the versatility of Slug shotguns in general, Nessa’s Oblation isn’t one to skip.

In this guide, we tell you where to find the weapon, how to farm it, and what are the best rolls for PvE and PvP.

How to get Nessa’s Oblation in Season 20

Nessa’s Oblation can drop from a few specific encounters from the Root of Nightmares raid. The first, second, and final encounters all have a chance to drop this Slug Shotgun. However, it is important to note that the odds of getting a god roll drop are extremely low, with each encounter having 6 to 9 potential drops you can get. You can check the full loot table, including all Root of Nightmares drops, here.

To get around this, you can complete the weekly Deepsighted chest puzzle (covered in this guide from Skarrow9) and purchase the weekly Deepsighted weapon from the chest that appears after beating the raid’s final boss.

How good is Nessa’s Oblation in today’s Meta?

Nessa’s Oblation is definitely a PvE weapon. The only PvP perk on this gun that is good is Opening Shot, but there is no accompanying perk in the first perk slot to go with this.

For our PvE players, though, you’re in luck. Nessa’s Oblation can come with top-tier perks like Reconstruction, Focused Fury, Fourth Time’s The Charm, and Frenzy. Nessa’s main competition is First In, Last Out, and it does slightly surpass it because Nessa’s is a craftable option and offers stronger damage perks, such as Focused Fury. However, the lack of Auto-Loading Holster (which First In, Last Out can roll with) can be an issue in some use cases.

Nessa's Oblation God Roll

Best Nessa’s Oblation Rolls for PvE and PvP

Once you get five Deepsight versions of Nessa’s Oblation, the Shotgun will become available for crafting; these are the best rolls you should aim for.

Nessa’s Oblation PvP god roll

For PvP, as mentioned earlier, there isn’t too much in the way of perks. The best options will be Demolitionist and Opening Shot. Harmony could be interesting, but it has to compete with Opening Shot making it quite difficult to recommend.

For barrels and magazines, Smallbore or Hammer-forged Rifling will be the best, and Accurised Rounds or Assault Mag will be the best for your magazine.

  • Barrel: Smallbore or Hammer-forged Rifling
  • Magazine: Accurised Rounds or Assault Mag
  • Perk 1: Demolitionist
  • Perk 2: Opening Shot

Nessa’s Oblation PvE god roll

For PvE, the most common roll will be Fourth Time’s the Charm and Focused Fury, allowing Nessa’s to output decent single-magazine DPS and more overall damage. However, Reconstruction will be favorable to some due to its auto-loading features.

For the barrel, Fluted Barrel will be the best, and for the magazine, Assault Mag for the increase in DPS will be the go-to option.

  • Barrel: Fluted Barrel
  • Magazine: Assault Mag
  • Perk 1: Fourth Time’s the Charm (also good: Reconstruction)
  • Perk 2: Focused Fury

Is Nessa’s Oblation worth farming?

Nessa’s Oblation is a decent weapon to farm and one of the better weapons from Root of Nightmares. At the very least, it is equally as strong as the main competition and a decent all-around pick, with good hot-swapping potential with Reconstruction and strong total damage with Fourth Time’s the Charm.
