Destiny 2 Heritage: God Rolls & How to get it

by | May 4, 2024

With the release of Pantheon: Atraks Sovereign, players have immediately identified it as a hotspot to farm Spoils of Conquest and the perfect opportunity to grab one of the best weapons in Destiny 2: Heritage.

How good is Heritage?

It is safe to say that Heritage is one of, if not the best, Slug Shotguns in the game. Being a Kinetic Special weapon, it deals more damage than its elemental counterparts while also allowing players to run an energy primary weapon like Sunshot. Heritage simply has no equal when it comes to the utility that a Slug Shotgun provides as typically, these weapons are used to burst down targets, and with perks like Recombination, Heritage can definitely fill that roll.

Heritage is no slouch in PvP, either. While players will typically opt for The Chaperone if they want to use a Slug Shotgun in PvP, perks like Threat Detector and Moving Target can be quite the difference-maker if you want to use an energy primary like Igneous Hammer.

Overall, Heritage is a must-have in PvE thanks to its versatility and burst damage potential and a decent option for Slug Shotgun aficionados in PvP.

Heritage PvE god rolls

PvE Roll: All-Around
Barrel Fluted Barrel
Magazine Assault Mag
Perk 1 Reconstruction (also good: Auto-Loading Holster)
Perk 2 Recombination
Masterwork Handling

As per usual, Handling is the way to go on PvE Special Weapons meaning Fluted Barrel and a Handling Masterwork are the best bets for your Barrel and Masterwork. Assault Mag is the best Magazine option as it increases the RPM to 70, increasing DPS.

Reconstruction or Auto-Loading Holster in the first column both work great as they provide some ammo utility, but Reconstruction will be better as Heritage can reach up to 12 shots in the magazine. This, paired with Recombination’s incredible burst damage, makes Heritage a real powerhouse.

Heritage PvP god rolls

PvE Roll: All-Around
Barrel Hammer-forged Rifling or Fluted Barrel
Magazine Accurized Rounds
Perk 1 Slideshot or Threat Detector
Perk 2 Moving Target
Masterwork Range or Handling

Heritage needs Range, so Hammer-forged Rifling, Accurised Rounds, and a Range masterwork are all good, but some players may prefer to opt for Handling instead, meaning Fluted Barrel and a Handling Masterwork would be better instead.

Moving Target is the best pick for Perk 2 as it increases the consistency of the weapon, making it easier to hit those headshots for the one-hit kill.

How to get Heritage

Heritage is available from two locations. First is its original source, the Deep Stone Crypt. This raid is by far one of the simpler raids in the game, making it much more accessible for the average player. Players can also use Spoils of Conquest to obtain Heritage directly from the cache at the end of the raid. Alternatively, players can farm Atraks-1 for Heritage as it drops from this encounter.

The new option for farming Heritage is the new Pantheon activity. Completing the Atraks Sovereign version of Pantheon will allow you to spend your Spoils of Conquest (which drop like candy) at the end of the gauntlet after defeating Atraks-1. Again, you will be able to purchase a Heritage directly from the final chest, making Pantheon a good alternative for grinding a Heritage. We cover all Pantheon Rewards here.
