Destiny 2 Commemoration: God Rolls and How to get it

by | May 4, 2023

Commemoration is a Legendary Machine Gun available within the Deep Stone Crypt raid. This Void Machine Gun has recently seen a resurgence thanks to the Machine Gun buffs brought by Season 20. It currently comes in as the number 3 most popular Machine Gun in Season of Defiance, so you’ll definitely want to get your hands on it.

Today, we’ll share the best ways to obtain multiple rolls of the weapon, and the best perks you want to hunt down.

How to get Commemoration this season

Commemoration is one of several weapons that drop from the Deep Stone Crypt raid, obtained exclusively from defeating Taniks The Abomination in the final encounter of the raid.

If you are having trouble securing your first drop from Taniks, you can also spend 60 Spoils of Conquest at the loot cache at the end of the raid for an additional chance to the weapon. In addition, Commemoration can be crafted too, but that will require you to find 5 Deepsight (red border) versions of the weapon.

How good is Commemoration today

Machine Guns received some love this season, seeing a 10% damage increase and a boost to reserve ammo. That increase in damage and reserves pairs nicely with some of Commemoration’s top perks, specifically Reconstruction, Killing Tally, Rampage, and Dragonfly.

There is a reason that Commemoration is the third most popular Machine Gun and fourth most popular weapon overall in the current PvE meta, and that is the perk combinations centered around Reconstruction. Pairing Reconstruction in the third column with Killing Tally, Rampage, or Dragonfly can be effective for either dealing boss damage or mob clearing.

Commemoration is a must-have and can be considered S Tier for PvE, especially for endgame content.

Best Commemoration Rolls for PvE and PvP

After you’ve either completed enough Deep Stone Crypt runs, cashed in your Spoils of Conquest, or scored enough Deepsight drops, it’s time to pick your favorite roll. Here are our recommendations for the god rolls for PvE and PvP:

Commemoration Destiny 2 featured machine gun

Commemoration God rolls, Destiny 2

Commemoration PvE god roll

With Commemoration and most Machine Guns, we want to maximize potential DPS and mob clearing. With this weapon type comes high recoil, and for that reason, we want to choose Arrowhead Brake as our barrel type. For the magazine, you can go with Tactical Mag or Extended Mag to improve your reload speed.

For our first perk, we want only one thing – Reconstruction. This immensely increases the number of rounds we have in our magazine and allows us to do damage or clear mobs for what feels like forever without the need to reload. This is where Commemoration becomes a PvE powerhouse.

Pair Reconstruction with Killing Tally for the ultimate god roll. A perfect pairing, without the need to frequently reload, Reconstruction allows you to rack up kills so Killing Tally can easily boost your damage output with the weapon.

  • Barrel: Arrowhead Break
  • Magazine: Accurized Rounds or Extended Mag
  • Perk 1: Reconstruction
  • Perk 2: Killing Tally (also good: Rampage)
  • Masterwork: Reload

Commemoration PvP god roll

Heavy ammo is rare in the Crucible, but it can change the tide of a match. Since we will be firing a partially filled magazine with no need to reload, range-enhancing barrels such as Smallbore, Corkscrew Rifling, or Full Bore are preferred. Accurized Rounds is the ideal magazine type to stretch that range even further.

In the third column, Surplus and Dynamic Sway Reduction are two safe bets for a general stats boost. In the final column, we want to go with Under Pressure as the perk’s accuracy bonus will be systematically triggered due to our partially filled magazine.

  • Barrel: Smallbore
  • Magazine: Projection Fuse or Particle Repeater
  • Perk 1: Surplus or Dynamic Sway Reduction
  • Perk 2: Under Pressure or Eye of the Storm
  • Masterwork: Range or Handling

Commemoration: Is it worth farming?

Commemoration is the best Legendary option for Machine Guns this season. While there are several great combinations for PvE, the Recombination and Killing Tally pairing is a match made in heaven and definitely the god roll you want to chase.

Given that the weapon is craftable and that there are upcoming changes allowing players to apply Deepsight to their weapons, it is definitely a good time to stock up on rolls, even if they aren’t the god rolls recommended here. You and Taniks are about to become very familiar with each other.

Before you go…

If you’re looking to put together a strong PvE loadout, we recommend taking a closer look at the Perpetualis or Round Robin. Also, you can find all of our God roll guides here.
