Destiny 2 Zaouli’s Bane: God Rolls & How to get it

by | Mar 4, 2024

While this gun is nothing new, Season of the Wish’s artifact perks have turned all eyes on this Solar Hand Cannon. Craftable, beautiful, and lethal, Zaouli’s Bane has it all. But having it is half the battle. The other half? Having the right roll to crank its usefulness to an 11.

How to get Zaouli’s Bane

Much like in Destiny 1, Zaolui’s Bane drops from the King’s Fall raid. Specifically, it can drop the last three encounters: Golgoroth, Deathsingers, and Oryx. Farming this weapon on the Deathsinger’s encounter is recommended, as a decent fireteam can clear it in under 10 minutes. Additionally, while Oryx can be faster using the multi-bomb method, Deathsinger’s loot pool is slightly smaller, giving you a better chance at landing the drop.

Like with all new raids, King’s Fall also has a puzzle to guarantee a random Deepsight weapon that you don’t have the pattern for yet, as well as a final chest where you can purchase a Deepsight weapon of your choice for 20 Spoils of Conquest. Use these to boost your progress towards that pattern! You can find the entire King’s Fall loot table here.

How good is Zaouli’s Bane

Zaouli’s Bane has been good for some time, but hand cannons were never a huge PvE powerhouse until recently. A whopping 20% buff to minors and 75% to majors made them high-skill, high-reward weapons, and Season of the Wish has pushed them to the top of the meta. Many of the Artifact Perks are dedicated to Solar weapons and abilities, meaning Zaouli fits right in. It can proc Flint Striker, which gives Radiant on rapid Solar precision hits or final blows, and Rays of Precision, which ignites targets if you land a critical final blow while Radiant. Easy to see why this hand cannon is hot on the menu.

In PvP, Zaouli’s is alright at best. It doesn’t have any particular standout stats, with its handling being the worst offender by far. While it has a decent dueling perk combo in Opening Shot/Explosive Payload and Eye of the Storm, most people are either using a 120 RPM like the Igneous Hammer or a different 140 RPM hand cannon altogether.

Zaouli’s Bane God Rolls and Perk Pool

The Zaouli’s Bane hand cannon can roll with the following perks:

  • Perk 1: Ensemble, Hip-Fire Grip, Gutshot Straight, Pugilist, Opening Shot, Well-Rounded, Explosive Payload
  • Perk 2: Surrounded, Eye of the Storm, Demolitionist, Focused Fury, Firefly, One for All, Incandescent
  • Origin Trait: Runneth Over

  • Barrel: Fluted Barrel or Corkscrew Rifling
  • Magazine: Flared Magwell or Tactical Mag
  • Perk 1: Explosive Payload or Pugilist
  • Perk 2: Incandescent or Demolitionist
  • Masterwork: Stability or Reload Speed

Zaouli’s might hit like a truck, but it also kicks like a wild horse. To remedy that, it is wise to invest in stability as much as possible. Fluted Barrel might not give the most stability out of the barrels, but it also offers some handling as well, making swapping and aiming down sights that much quicker. Corkscrew is also a viable option, giving an even spread of buffs to range, stability, and handling. Flared Magwell is easily the best option for the magazine, buffing both reload speed and stability. Tactical Mag is also good for the buff-to-mag size, though it really isn’t needed.

For your perks, the best pairing by far has been Explosive Payload and Incandescent. These two are no-frills, easy-to-use perks that improve damage and synergize further with Solar 3.0. If you want a more ability-focused build, Pugilist and Demolitionist will help out there. Pairing Pugilist with Incandescent allows scorch kills from the Area-of-Effect to grant melee energy, just as a tip.

Zaouli’s Bane PvP god roll

  • Barrel: Smallbore or Corkscrew Rifling
  • Magazine: Flared Magwell or Accurized Rounds
  • Perk 1: Opening Shot or Explosive Payload
  • Perk 2: Eye of the Storm
  • Masterwork: Stability or Range

As previously stated, Zaouli’s doesn’t really stand out anywhere in its stats, but that doesn’t mean it is an awful weapon. When built right, it can contest with some of the stat monster 140s, like Palindrome. For the barrel, Smallbore is easily the best choice, putting the range on par with Palindrome’s base range. Corkscrew is also viable for buffing handling as well. Magazine is a toss up between Flared Magwell and Accurized. I’d test both out for yourself and see what you like, as the extra range is always welcome, but the stability is sure to help land shots more consistently.

Where Zaouli’s lacks in stats, it makes up for it in great dueling perks. Explosive Payload will help flinch targets more, while Opening Shot makes that engagement start in your favor. No matter what you choose for perk 1, Eye of the Storm needs to be your second perk. Getting more accurate as your health lowers is more powerful than you think, and the increased handling allows for slightly faster swap speed in the event of a push. Truly a fine dueling weapon, if you can get past the stats.
