Destiny 2 Koraxis’s Distress: God Rolls and How to get it

by | Mar 12, 2023

Heavy grenade launchers like Wendigo GL3 and Regnant have soared in popularity recently, serving as great damage options for those lacking a good rocket launcher. With Lightfall’s new raid, Root of Nightmares, a new contender has entered the ring: Koraxis’s Distress.

How do you get this new Strand heavy grenade launcher? How does it compare to other top options? What are its best rolls? Read on, as in this article we cover all that and more.

How to get Koraxis’s Distress in Season 20

To obtain Koraxis’s Distress for the first time, you must clear the first, second, or fourth encounter in the Root of Nightmares raid—it doesn’t have a chance to drop from the third. You can check the full loot table including all Root of Nightmares raid drops here.

Once you unlock the weapon in Collections, Koraxis’s Distress gains a couple of additional acquisition methods. The two secret chests located in Root of Nightmares will now have a chance to drop the weapon, and you’ll be able to directly purchase copies of it for Spoils of Conquest at the final vendor.

Like other recent raid weapons, Koraxis’s Distress is also craftable. You can get a guaranteed extra Deepsight drop every week. This guide by Skarrow9 explains how.

How good is the Koraxis’s Distress today’s Meta?

The main appeal of Koraxis’s Distress is its Strand element type; this allows it to get insane rolls like Demolitionist and Hatchling that pair perfectly with the new Strand subclasses. But how does it compare to its competition in DPS?

Sadly, not well. While Koraxis’s Distress can roll with Full Court in the final column, the absence of Auto-Loading Holster has made most of the community uninterested.

Because of this, this weapon lands in the C-Tier. Koraxis’s Distress has significantly more build potential than options like Wendigo GL3 and Regnant, but most players will take the competitors for their DPS capabilities.

Best Koraxis’s Distress Rolls for PvE and PvP

While the weapon may not be the top pick for DPS, Koraxis’s Distress can still get some rolls that make it unique. Let’s take a look at the best rolls for both PvE and PvP.

Koraxis's Distress god roll

Koraxis’s Distress PvP god roll

In PvP, we’ll start with Linear Compensator and Proximity Grenades to benefit a wide variety of stats. Impulse Amplifier is the best choice for perk one, as all other perks tend to be more PvE-centric. For the final column, there really aren’t any standouts; Wellspring is best, but that isn’t saying much at all.

  • Barrel: Linear Compensator
  • Magazine: Proximity Grenades
  • Perk 1: Impulse Amplifier
  • Perk 2: Wellspring

Koraxis’s Distress PvE god roll

Koraxis’s Distress performs a lot better in PvE, with a couple of options for good rolls you can get. Quick or Hard Launch and Spike Grenades are no-brainers for the first and second columns, greatly benefitting your damage and velocity. As for main perks, Demolitionist and Hatchling are great for Strand builds. If you’re looking for a more general roll, Field Prep or Reconstruction with Full Court is your best bet.

  • Barrel: Quick Launch (also good: Hard Launch)
  • Magazine: Spike Grenades
  • Perk 1: Demolitionist (also good: Reconstruction or Field Prep)
  • Perk 2: Hatchling (also good: Full Court)
