Destiny 2 Forthcoming Deviance: God Rolls & How to get it

Our first new glaive since Season of the Deep, Forthcoming Deviance, has the cards stacked against it. Not only is it a glaive, but it’s a glaive in one of the best raid loot pools, so getting it is merely an insult to injury.

However, there are a few key rolls that will let it stand out amongst its peers and break the mold we’ve seen glaives fall into. This guide will cover all you need to know about Forthcoming Deviance.

How good is Forthcoming Deviance

While Glaives are leagues above their launch status, their place in the meta has been cemented as “a choice among many”. If you enjoy glaives, you will love this one, however. Being a Rapid-Fire, this operates like Greasy Luck, so this can be used more efficiently to chunk down majors and even deal pretty solid boss damage, though I would never use a glaive as a DPS weapon. The perks on here only help solidify its power, but more on that later.

In PvP, glaives are powerful, in the right hands and context. Rapid-Fire glaives are a bit awkward, however. Even with all the possible range buffs, their projectile velocity is just slightly higher than an Aggressive glaive with just Impulse Amplifier, but their RPM allows them to kill any guardian in .73 seconds. For reference, that’s the same TTK as those pesky Rapid-Fire/Adaptive SMGs. So, if you want to take the time to learn, you might find yourself loving this for PvP.

Forthcoming Deviance Perks and God Rolls

The Forthcoming Deviance glaive can roll with the following perks:

• Perk 1: Disruption Break, Grave Robber, Immovable Object, Impulse Amplifier, Demolitionist, Replenishing Aegis, Reconstruction.
• Perk 2: Unstoppable Force, Vorpal Weapon, Desperate Measures, Close to Melee, Destabilizing Rounds, Chaos Reshaped, Chain Reaction.
• Origin Trait: Collective Purpose

Forthcoming Deviance PvE god rolls

Since glaives are unique in their extremely effective shield, it’s important to have that up for as long as possible. Auxiliary Reserves, alongside a Shield Duration Masterwork, gives it an almost 13 second uptime, and Swap Mag will help you ready it faster without the need for a Quick Access Sling mod.

For Perk 1, a lot of the perks are solid choices based on how you intend to use it, but the best neutral choices are Reconstruction and Replenishing Aegis. Reconstruction is a fan favorite for special and heavy weapons, and Replenishing Aegis lets you take advantage of the long shield uptime. Perk 2 is also very stacked, but Chaos Reshaped and Desperate Measures take the cake. Chaos, at x2 stacks, gives you a slow healing effect on top of a wild 35% damage boost to the projectile. Desperate Measures, on the other hand, can reach max stacks from just the glaive melee kills. If you’re wanting more melee focus, Grave Robber and Close to Melee are a perfect pairing.

Forthcoming Deviance PvP god rolls

In PvP, glaives need all the help they can get in the range department as that dictates the projectile velocity, and the faster, the better. Ballistic Tuning, paired with Accurized Rounds and a Range Masterwork, will make it feel almost like a hit scan in mid range fights, especially if you opt for Impulse Amplifier.
Speaking of which, Impulse Amplifier and Disruption Break are easily the best choices for Perk 1. Impulse boosts your velocity by a whopping 35%, making it even easier to hit moving targets at range, and Disruption Break will let you swap to a kinetic for a quick clean-up, as one hit will break a guardian’s shield. For Perk 2, most are PvE damage perks, but Desperate Measures is probably the best here as it’s easy to proc and can make those swap kills even easier to achieve.

How to get Forthcoming Deviance

Forthcoming Deviance drops from encounters 2 and 3 (Herald of Finality and Repository, respectively). Depending on where your team’s strength lies, either of these encounters are worthy of farming, though I’d take Herald personally. We cover the entire Salvation Edge’s loot table here.
