How good is Imminence
Being an SMG, Imminence immediately can be considered a bit weaker than some other options in the game right now, as SMGs aren’t as good as they once were. However, this doesn’t mean Imminence should be written off immediately.
In PvE, Imminence can come with a good number of perks that can provide some utility or bring some raw bonus stats and damage to the weapon. Options like Demolitionist, Enlightened Action, Slice, Chaos Reshaped, and Desperate Measures are all excellent perks and really boost Imminence’s viability in a Hand Cannon/Pulse Rifle-dominated meta.
In PvP, Imminence sees a bit of a step up. Several rolls are available that may catch the eyes of many SMG aficionados. Slice is brilliant for general duelling, and Dynamic Sway Reduction or Perpetual Motion are excellent for consistency. All this while having options like Target Lock and Kill Clip in the second column makes Imminence a real threat in the Crucible.

Imminence PvE god rolls
PvE Roll: All-Around | |
---|---|
Barrel | Fluted Barrel |
Magazine | Tactical Mag |
Perk 1 | Demolitionist (also good: Enlightened Action) |
Perk 2 | Chaos Reshaped |
Masterwork | Reload Speed |
Fluted Barrel and a Reload Masterwork make Imminence feel much nicer to use, thanks to the bumps to stats like Handling, Stability, and Reload Speed. Tactical Mag is also nice for boosting the magazine size and reload speed.
For perk 1, Demolitionist is the clear winner as it is brilliant for Grenade-focused builds, but Enlightened Action is an acceptable alternative. For perk 2, Chaos Reshaped is the best perk here as it provides a massive damage boost while also granting periodic healing when at x2 of the buff.
Imminence PvP god rolls
PvP Rolls | 6v6 | Trials |
---|---|---|
Barrel | Extended Barrel | |
Magazine | Accurised Rounds | |
Perk 1 | Perpetual Motion or Dynamic Sway Reduction | Slice |
Perk 2 | Kill Clip | Target Lock |
Masterwork | Range |
PvP Roll: 6v6
Imminence already has high base Handling, so Extended Barrel can be used to boost the Range and make the recoil direction a perfect 100, making it the best option all around. Accurised Rounds is great for pushing the kill range out a little farther.
For perk 1, Perpetual Motion or Dynamic Sway Reduction is the play as they both are passive benefits and fit the chaotic nature of a 6v6 playlist, both granting some stat bonuses. For perk 2, Kill Clip is preferred as it allows you to chain kills together back to back, making Imminence a monster in the right hands.
PvP Roll: Trials of Osiris
Like the 6v6 roll, Extended Barrel finds the same value here as it makes the gun incredibly easy to use, and Accurised Rounds also furthers the range, making it more competitive in the mid-range.
Slice is an amazing perk for duelling and is effectively a free win when active as it debuffs your opponent by 15%, turning 140RPM Hand Cannons into a 4-shot rather than a 3-shot kill. Target Lock is also the best choice in Trials thanks to it reducing the time-to-kill on 900RPM SMGs, while also not requiring a kill. These perks together can turn a gunfight that was supposed to be even into a one-sided affair thanks to the bonus damage from Target Lock and the severing properties of Slice.
How to get Imminence
Imminence comes from the Salvation’s Edge Raid and drops from three encounters: Substratum, Herald of Finality, and Verity. The fastest encounter here is Herald of Finality, meaning that this is the encounter to farm when Salvation’s Edge is the featured Raid for the week.
Furthermore, Imminence can be purchased from the Raid cache after defeating The Witness for the price of 20 Spoils of Conquest. Additionally, you can buy one red-border version of a weapon a week, meaning you can get one deepsighted Imminence a week guaranteed. Completing the red-border chest challenge throughout the raid will also grant a chance to get another red-border version of Imminence. We cover the entire Salvation Edge’s loot table here.
