Rapacious Appetite is a Taken-themed SMG from the Season of the Deep weapon loot pool and its name is quite fitting. With its ability to roll Target Lock, this weapon will leave you hungry for more.
We’ll go over how to get and farm Rapacious Appetite SMG in Lightfall and give our recommendations for PvE and PvP god rolls.

How good is the Rapacious Appetite
As far as Stasis SMGs go, Rapacious Appetite is the best. And it will be great for your PvE Stasis builds. The downside is that the gun has only a few usable perks. This means you might have to grind for a bit, but it’s Destiny, right?
In PvP things are more complicated. No matter how much you want it, a Rapacious Appetite with Target Lock won’t be able to compete with The Immortal because of its lower base stats. It is still a satisfying gun to use and the kills you get with it feel nice and crisp. It’s just that if you are looking for the top-performing SMG, you will still have to go for The Immortal.

Best Rapacious Appetite Rolls for PvE and PvP
Rapacious Appetite PvE god roll
- Barrel: Polygonal Rifling or Fluted Barrel
- Magazine: Flared Magwell or Appended Mag
- Perk 1: Fourth Time’s the Charm
- Perk 2: Frenzy
- Masterwork: Range or Handling
The PvE roll for Rapacious Appetite is quite flexible. We recommend you go for extra Stability on Barrel and Magazine as you won’t get any of that from perks.
As for the perks themselves, we recommend Fourth Time’s Charm to keep you in a fight for longer. Then pair that with Frenzy to get increased damage from those prolonged fights. Alternatively, you can go for Headstone which works well with builds around Stasis crystals.
If however, you did not manage to get enough Stability, you can also go for Encore as Perk 1. It’s not the best option, but it’s there if you need it.
Rapacious Appetite PvP god roll
- Barrel: Hammer-Forged Rifling
- Magazine: Ricochet Rounds or High-Caliber Rounds
- Perk 1: Perpetual Motion
- Perk 2: Target Lock
- Masterwork: Range
For your PvP roll, you want to maximize your range as much as you can on the Barrel and the Magazine. This is always a top priority for any PvP content but keep in mind that perks are more important. And there is only one decent perk combination which is Perpetual Motion with Target Lock.
It will require some skill to put it to use and keep your crosshair on your enemy. But once you do, you will consistently get a 25% damage buff through Target Lock. While Perpetual Motion should make strafing easier and keep you alive for longer.
How to get the Rapacious Appetite this Season
As with other Season 21 weapons, you can get Rapacious Appetite from Deep Engrams and as a reward for completing Season of the Deep activities. Deep Engrams drop from almost anything including core playlists so you shouldn’t have any issues in farming them.
With Deep Weapon Focusing unlocked you should focus your Deep Engrams at the Sonar Station to guarantee the weapon you get from it.
To focus a Deep Engram you’ll need:
- 2 Deep Engram (4 for a specific weapon)
- 3,000 Glimmer
If you get lucky enough to get 5 Deepsighhts, make sure to craft the weapon. Eventually, you will get access to enhanced perks which is worth running around with garbage rolls for a while.
Rapacious Appetite: Is it worth farming?
Rapacious Appetite is by far the best Stasis SMG that you can use for PvE outclassing Prolonged Engagement. Which was the only decent alternative up until now. If you love using Stasis, get yourself one as soon as possible.
