Destiny 2 Centrifuse: How to get it + Catalyst

by | May 24, 2023

Centrifuse is an Arc Exotic Auto Rifle that can be acquired from the Season Pass for free. This Auto rifle is unique in that it heavily encourages an aggressive run and gun playstyle. But does it have what it takes to excel in today’s meta?

Season Pass exotics are hit or miss. Some are still at the top (Witherhoard comes to mind), while others were quickly forgotten (Cryosthesia 77K, anyone?). In this guide, we cover how powerful this Exotic is and tell you exactly how to get it.

How to get Centrifuse

Centrifuse is extremely easy to acquire. All you have to do is play the game and unlock levels on your Season of the Deep Season Pass. Centrifuse is available to all players, including free-to-play. Season Pass owners can unlock it almost immediately at Level 1, whereas free-to-play players can unlock it at Level 35.

Rest assured, reaching Level 35 is not difficult and should happen organically after a week or so of normal play. Be aware that Season Pass Exotics become Paid-only as soon as the Season ends! If you are not planning on purchasing Lightfall, you better unlock Centrifuse at Level 35 soon.

Centrifuse drop rate

As a Season Pass weapon, Centrifuse is not subject to drop rates. You can claim this weapon directly from the Season Pass, provided you have unlocked the required levels (by earning experience playing the game).

Is Centrifuse farmable?

As a Season Pass weapon (😉), farming is irrelevant when it comes to Centrifuse. You won’t need to farm it, as it only has one fixed Exotic roll. Plus, as it can be directly acquired from the Season Pass, it won’t require you to grind a specific activity.

(PS: We get these questions for all new Exotics, even when the answers may seem obvious to veterans.)

How good is Centrifuse?

Centrifuse features the following unique Exotic perks:

  • Overcharge Capacitor: Sprinting, sliding, and firing this weapon builds a temporary electrostatic charge, increasing range and reload speed. Final blows with high charge cause explosions, and maximum charge explosions blind targets.
  • Regenerative Motion: Sprinting gradually reloads this weapon.

As a 450 RPM Auto rifle, Centrifuse falls within the Precision frame archetype, which, to be fair, is not in a great place right now. Be it for PvE or PvP, Precision Auto rifles lag the competition, and it is likely that Centrifuse won’ be able to compete with the Meta weapons.

That said, with its unique Exotic perks that heavily encourage a fast run and gun playstyle, this could be a good option for aggressive players in casual PvE.

Because of its Exotic perks, combined with decent base stats and aggressive playstyle, we consider the Centrifuse an Okay Exotic for casual PvE.

Centrifuse Catalyst: Where to find it?

The catalyst for Centrifuse can be acquired by completing the “Higher Voltage” quest from Banshee-44:

  • Step 1: Rebuild the Centrifuse’s catalyst by rapidly defeating targets and defeating them with Arc final blows.
  • Step 2: Calibrate data and defeat targets while using Centrifuse. Calibration occurs when you complete Vanguard Operations, Gambit and Crucible matches, or Seasonal playlist activities. Higher tier Nightfall completions, Crucible or Gambit wins, and defeating Guardians provide additional progress.
  • Step 3: Return to Banshee-44 to receive the rebuilt catalyst.

How to unlock the catalyst?

Once you have found the catalyst, you will need 700 kills to fully unlock it.

To unlock the catalyst as efficiently as possible, any place with lots of easy-to-kill enemies can be a good spot. The Shuro Chi encounter from the Last With raid is a particularly popular spot to farm catalysts.

Before you go…

While you continue exploring Season of the Deep’s activities, don’t forget that there are other top-tier Exotics worth your attention, such as the Osteo Striga SMG. Alternatively, you can find all the new Exotic weapons here.
