Destiny 2 Abyss Defiant: God Rolls and How to get it

by | Mar 19, 2024

Crota’s End has made its Destiny 2 debut, and some pretty sweet weapons have come along with it. One of these is Abyss Defiant, a high-impact frame auto rifle with an extensive suite of new and powerful perks.

How do you obtain Abyss Defiant? What are its best rolls? And is it even worth farming for?

How to get Abyss Defiant

Abyss Defiant is a random drop from the Crota’s End raid. More specifically, this auto rifle can drop at the Enter the Abyss (first) and Crota, Son of Oryx (final) encounters.

As with all recent raids, weapons from Crota’s End—including Abyss Defiant—are purchasable from the final vendor after obtaining them once. The cost is 20 Spoils of Conquest, a small price for a specific weapon drop. You can find the entire loot table for Crota’s End here.

How good is Abyss Defiant

As with some other weapons available from Crota’s End—namely, Word of Crota—Abyss Defiant’s primary weakness is its frame. High-impact auto rifles, albeit slightly underrated in high-difficulty PvE content, rarely see use in Destiny 2.

That said, Abyss Defiant does excel past that weakness through its powerful and synergistic perks. From new options like Heal Clip and Sword Logic to classic favorites such as Outlaw and Incandescent, this weapon is perfect for anything from Solar builds to general gameplay.

Overall, we consider Abyss Defiant A-Tier in PvE and S-Tier in PvP.

Best alternatives:

Abyss Defiant Perks and God Rolls

The Abyss Defiant High-Impact Solar Auto Rifle can roll with the following perks:

  • Perk 1: Pugilist, Enlightened Action, Heal Clip, Zen Moment, Subsistence, Outlaw, Reconstruction
  • Perk 2: Eye of the Storm, Collective Action, Swashbuckler, Incandescent, Kill Clip, Sword Logic, Target Lock
  • Origin Trait: Cursed Thrall

Abyss Defiant PvE god roll

  • Barrel: Corkscrew Rifling or Arrowhead Brake
  • Magazine: Flared Magwell or Light Mag
  • Perk 1: Heal Clip (also good: Enlightened Action)
  • Perk 2: Sword Logic (also good: Incandescent)
  • Masterwork: Reload Speed

Regarding PvE, Abyss Defiant’s perk pool is overflowing with solid picks. While we have our favorite combinations, what you run here entirely depends on your goal when equipping this weapon.

If you’re strictly looking to kill combatants to no end, options like Enlightened Action, Reconstruction, Sword Logic, and Kill Clip are your best bets. Instead, if you want to build into a Solar subclass, Heal Clip, Collective Action, and Incandescent are the clear winners.

There’s also the slightly more niche combination of Heal Clip and Kill Clip, which synergize exceptionally well with one another. This is an excellent choice if you want a balance between subclass synergy and raw power.

While Abyss Defiant’s frame makes it difficult to recommend for everyday gameplay, its powerful and synergistic perk combinations push it past that stigma and allow it to excel in higher-difficulty activities.

Abyss Defiant PvP god roll

  • Barrel: Hammer-Forged Rifling
  • Magazine: High-Caliber Rounds
  • Perk 1: Heal Clip (also good: Enlightened Action)
  • Perk 2: Kill Clip
  • Masterwork: Range

When it comes down to it, Abyss Defiant just isn’t made for The Crucible. That said, there are some ways to make it better.

For the barrel, magazine, and masterwork, the only thing you’re looking for is range. As for the two main perk columns, it’s a bit rough. Heal Clip and Enlightened Action are the only column 3 perks you’ll want to look out for, while the final column really only has Kill Clip.

While some perks definitely enhance this weapon’s performance in PvP, Abyss Defiant is simply weak here. If you’re eager to give this weapon a spin, we recommend sticking to PvE.
