Crota’s End is back, as well as many of its iconic weapons from Destiny 1. One of these weapons is the Oversoul Edict, an Arc, Rapid-Fire Frame Pulse Rifle that can drop from certain Crota’s End Raid encounters.
In this article, we’ll cover how good Oversoul Edict is, the best rolls, and how to obtain it.

How to get Oversoul Edict this Season
There are two ways to get Oversoul Edict. The first way to get it is for it to randomly drop upon completing the “Cross the Bridge” encounter or by defeating Ir Yût, the Deathsinger. This method isn’t too reliable, as other loot can drop from these encounters. All drops can be found on our loot table for Crota’s End.
Alternatively, once you have had it drop at least once, players can interact with the Sword of Crota upon slaying him in the final encounter to purchase an Oversoul Edict at the kiosk for 20 Spoils of Conquest.

How good is Oversoul Edict
Pulse rifles overall are solid right now. They are still outmatched by specific options like SMGs or the recently buffed Hand Cannons, but they do solid work against minor and major enemies.
However, an important thing to note about Pulse Rifles is that certain frames are better than others, and Rapid-Fire Frames are not good in PvE. I tested my Oversoul Edict in several locations, and I couldn’t even 1 burst a Cabal Legionary in the Trostland Patrol with maximum stacks of Swashbuckler (a 33% damage buff). It’s safe to say Oversoul Edict isn’t the best pick for PvE, especially when the competition is top-tier picks like Insidious, Smite of Merain, or even Disparity.
In PvP, Oversoul Edict is better, as 540 RPM Pulse Rifles are strong in the Crucible. With perks like Perpetual Motion, Keep Away, Eye of the Storm, and Moving Target, it can get a bunch of solid perks. The competition is still quite stiff, though; Horror’s Least, Outlast, or Piece of Mind are all good options that are also 540 RPM.

Best Oversoul Edict Rolls for PvE and PvP

Oversoul Edict God rolls, Destiny 2
Oversoul Edict PvE god roll
- Barrel: Smallbore (also good: Fluted Barrel)
- Magazine: High-Caliber Rounds (also good: Ricochet Rounds)
- Perk 1: Demolitionist (also good: Perpetual Motion)
- Perk 2: Voltshot (also good: Sword Logic or Adrenaline Junkie)
- Masterwork:
Barrels mean very little inside of PvE. However, Oversoul Edict feels rather unwieldy and difficult to control, meaning the slight bump from Smallbore to Stability can help. High-Caliber Rounds is strong as it staggers enemies quicker than weapons without it, making it quite powerful, especially in challenging content.
Perk 1 is barren for good PvE perks. Demolitionist is the only good PvE perk in this slot; however, Perpetual Motion isn’t awful either. In Perk 2 is where things heat up though. Sword Logic, Swashbuckler, Adrenaline Junkie, and Voltshot are all very powerful options, and you will probably be fine with any of them.
Oversoul Edict PvP god roll
- Barrel: Smallbore (also good: Hammer-Forged Rifling)
- Magazine: High-Caliber Rounds (also good: Ricochet Rounds)
- Perk 1: Keep Away (also good: Eye of the Storm)
- Perk 2: Moving Target (also good: Headseeker)
- Masterwork: Range
Barrels and Magazines mean much more in PvP, and Oversoul Edict is no exception. Smallbore provides Stability and a slight bum to Range, helping it compete with longer-range options like No Time to Explain, and High-Caliber Rounds flinches your opponent, shifting many 1v1 duels in your favor.
Keep Away synergizes nicely with a Pulse Rifle, as you’ll often be fighting at medium range with Oversoul Edict, allowing you to keep Keep Away active at all times. Moving Target helps with consistency, but Headseeker is a suitable alternative.
Oversoul Edict: Is it worth farming?
Oversoul Edict is one for the PvP players out there. If you’re an avid Crucible lover but don’t yet have a Rapid-Fire Pulse Rifle you like, then Oversoul Edict could be a good pick for you, but if you are a PvE player, you’ll be better served by another weapon, and spending your Spoils of Conquest elsewhere.
