Destiny 2 Song of Ir Yût: God Rolls and How to get it

by | Mar 19, 2024

The long-awaited return of Crota’s End is here and so are its infamous raid weapons from Destiny 1. One of these weapons is Song of Ir Yût, an Arc adaptive frame machine gun.

How do you obtain Song of Ir Yût? What are its best rolls? And is it even worth farming for?

How to get Song of Ir Yût

Song of Ir Yût is one of many guns you can get from the Crota’s End reprised raid that is free for all players. You will need a team of six players to complete raid encounters and get your hands on some of this sweet loot.

This weapon is also craftable. This means you have a chance of getting a red border weapon after opening a chest and after you collect 5 patterns you can head to the Enclave to shape it. You can find the entire loot table for Crota’s End here.

How good is Song of Ir Yût

In our eyes, 450 RPM adaptive frame machine guns are the perfect archetype in the game. They fire relatively fast and don’t throw your crosshair around. So naturally, Song of Ir Yût is a decent machine gun, but what makes it an absolute powerhouse, is its perks.

This weapon can roll Rewind Rounds, Reconstruction, Bait and Switch, Zen Moment, Target Lock, and Voltshot making it a gun for all Seasons. While we try not to get over-excited about this gun, it does have a lot of potential in the current meta.

Overall, we consider Song of Ir Yût A-Tier in PvE and S-Tier in PvP.

Best alternatives:

Oversoul Edict Perks and God Rolls

The Song of Ir Yût Adaptive Arc Machine Gun can roll with the following perks:

  • Perk 1: Unrelenting, Feeding Frenzy, Demolitionist, Zen Moment, Keep Away, Rewind Rounds, Reconstruction
  • Perk 2: Elemental Capacitor, Voltshot, High Ground, Cascade Point, Sword Logic, Bait and Switch, Target Lock
  • Origin Trait: Cursed Thrall

Song of Ir Yût PvE god roll

  • Barrel: Polygonal Rifling
  • Magazine: Extended Mag
  • Perk 1: Rewind Rounds
  • Perk 2: Target Lock
  • Masterwork: Reload Speed

This PvE roll is made for maximum DPS on any tanky enemy. We start with a Polygonal Rifling and Extended Mag for extra stability and ammo. If you have an option for bonus reload speed, it’s also fine if you plan to reload while dealing damage instead of switching to another weapon.

Rewind Rounds and Target Lock give this weapon a feel of Retrofit Escapade god roll, which has Fourth Time’s the Charm with Target Lock instead. The goal is to get increased damage from continuous target hits and then get ammo back for every hit. More ammo, more Target Lock uptime, more damage—as simple and efficient as that.

We know that you probably think about the Reconstruction and Bait and Switch combo that is widely popular on the Apex Predator rocket launcher. Will it work here? It will, but we think that not only will it make the gameplay loop more complicated due to Bait and Switch, but you might end up with less total ammo to shoot when using Reconstruction during DPS.

Song of Ir Yût PvP god roll

  • Barrel: Hammer-Forged Rifling
  • Magazine: Ricochet Rounds
  • Perk 1: Zen Moment
  • Perk 2: Target Lock
  • Masterwork: Range

For PvP, only one roll really comes to mind, and that is Zen Moment with Target Lock, just to get it straight of the way. Both perks are really good in the Crucible and there’s just nothing else in the pool that can replace either of them. Keep Away can work, but you don’t really want to sacrifice Zen for it, and there’s no reason to choose Cascade Point or High Ground.

The barrel and magazine are PvP classics. It’s all about the active range of your weapon. Hammer-Forged Rifling and Ricochet Rounds will give you a total of 15 range and 10 stability, which is not bad overall.
