The Desert Perpetual has brought us a new Rocket Launcher to play with – The When and Where. This Rocket, while relatively standard with its perks, has some interesting combos when paired with seasonal mods. Here, we’ll break down the god rolls, how to get it, and how good it is right now.

How good is The When and Where
The When and Where is incredibly powerful this season, as this weapon has a perk (Chill Clip) that synergises with a seasonal mod named Temporal Loader. Essentially, this combo allows you to slow whoever you’re shooting with Chill Clip, activating Temporal Loader, which reloads your weapon from reserves when dealing damage to slowed, frozen, or suspended targets. This weapon allows you to do all of this on your own without needing any help from your subclass or abilities, making it an incredible burst damage weapon, especially when paired with Elemental Honing or Bait and Switch.
On top of this, the ‘Frame of Reference’ Origin Trait is excellent as it is a stacking damage buff that can last forever (technically). The damage buff doesn’t last long, but it lasts long enough so you can get the majority of your rockets out. However, one thing worth noting is that the mod will only be available until the end of this season, so Chill Clip (and this rocket by extension) will drastically decrease in value once the mod is deprecated. The When and Where is S-Tier for PvE and C-tier for PvP.

The When and Where Perks and God Rolls
The When and Where Stasis rocket launcher can roll with the following perks:
- Perk 1: Chill Clip, Clown Cartridge, Impulse Amplifier, Field Prep, Overflow, Demolitionist, and Reconstruction.

- Origin Trait: Frame of Reference.
The When and Where PvE god rolls
| PvE Roll: All-Around | |
|---|---|
| Barrel | Quick Launch |
| Magazine | Impact Casing |
| Perk 1 | Chill Clip (also good: Reconstruction or Overflow) |
| Perk 2 | Elemental Honing or Bait and Switch |
| Masterwork | Velocity |
Quick Launch and Impact Casing are almost always the best options, as they provide velocity, handling, and raw damage.
In perk slot 1, Chill Clip is our suggestion, thanks to its combined power with Temporal Loader, but if you’d prefer a more traditional option, then Reconstruction is your go-to. Overflow is also a great option, and is similar to the Chill Clip/Temporal Loader combo in premise, as you can dump your Rockets very fast.
For perk 2, Elemental Honing and Bait and Switch are the clear winners. Elemental Honing lasts longer and is more damaging at max stacks, but if you can’t stack it up easily, then Bait and Switch is fine too.

How to get The When and Where
The When and Where is one of six weapons available from The Desert Perpetual raid. It drops from the Iatros (Inward-Turned) and Koregos (Final Boss) encounters. You can easily farm these encounters, as The Desert Perpetual allows you to choose your encounters in any order, so simply choose the Wyvern and then the final boss, and repeat!
Additional copies of the weapon can be purchased at the end-of-raid vendor for Spoils of Conquest, and higher-tier variants can be obtained on runs with Feats active. We cover the entire Desert Perpetual Loot Table here.
