TL;DR – Updated God Roll

While the guide below is outdated (the meta can move fast), this “TL;DR” box includes up-to-date God rolls and Tier ranks.

PvE God Roll: Reconstruction (also good: Lead from Gold) + Controlled Burst (also good: Reservoir Burst)

► Finite Maybe offers some strong perk combinations but falls into a weird spot being in the aggressive frame archetype. While it’s no doubt strong in the majority of activities you’ll come across, the horizontal spread pattern is something that requires some getting used to before you experience this weapon’s true potential.

The guide below was published on Jul 23, 2025: The Desert Perpetual raid is finally out, and it seems to be the last big piece of content The Edge of Fate has to offer. Luckily, it’s been largely considered a success, offering solid replayability through its unique encounter structure and feat system. Here, we’ll cover one of six weapons available from this new raid: Finite Maybe, a solar fusion rifle.

How good is Finite Maybe

Upon a first glance at Finite Maybe’s perk pool, more experienced players may see some interesting points, like Incandescent in the third column. Sadly, most of these interactions don’t actually prove all that useful, even though they are novel.

Luckily, Finite Maybe does carry some other rolls in its pool that, while a bit more boring, are top-tier. Perks like Lead From Gold, Reconstruction, Controlled Burst, and Reservoir Burst are all strong options for PvE, while Under Pressure and Successful Warm-Up are great contenders in The Crucible. The only caveat in both cases is the weapon’s frame, which fires a horizontal spread instead of the traditional vertical one.

While most attempts Finite Maybe makes at being novel fall a bit flat, the tried-and-true perk combinations the weapon offers still make it worth using in a variety of activities. Finite Maybe is S-Tier for PvE and A-tier for PvP.

PvE Roll: All-Around
Barrel Fluted Barrel

Perk 1 Reconstruction (also good: Lead from Gold)
Perk 2 Controlled Burst (also good: Reservoir Burst)
Masterwork Handling or Stability

Fluted Barrel starts us off with some stability and handling, while Enhanced Battery simply gives us an extra burst in the magazine. For your masterwork, choose between handling and stability; whichever feels more important to you.

As for main perks, Reconstruction and Controlled Burst is a classic combination for boss damage, making it our first pick. Also worth mentioning in the first column is Lead from Gold, which is great for ammo economy (especially given the recent ammo system update!). Finally, we’d be remiss to not mention Reservoir Burst in the final column, which provides a slightly higher damage bonus than Controlled Burst and synergizes absurdly well with Reconstruction.

PvP Roll: All-Around
Barrel Smallbore
Battery Projection Fuse
Perk 1 Under Pressure
Perk 2 Successful Warm-Up or Discord
Masterwork Stability

Due to their horizontal spread, aggressive frame fusion rifles are a bit strange in The Crucible and really only excel at extremely close ranges. As a result, we’ll start by building into range and stability with Smallbore, Projection Fuse, and a Stability masterwork.

As for our main perks, Under Pressure and Successful Warm-Up are both difficult to argue against. The former provides some stability and accuracy on basically every shot, while the latter decreases charge time for chained kills. All that said, some people do prefer Discord in the final column, granting some extra accuracy (and therefore, consistency) to the weapon.

How to get Finite Maybe

Finite Maybe is one of six weapons currently available from the base version of The Desert Perpetual raid. It drops from the Iatros (Inward-Turned) and Koregos (Final Boss) encounters. Additional copies of the weapon can be purchased at the end-of-raid vendor for Spoils of Conquest, and higher-tier variants can be obtained on runs with Feats active. We cover the entire Desert Perpetual Loot Table here.
