Another season, another Strand Fusion Rifle. Scatter Signal is already proving to be a top pick in the community, offering Riptide levels of utility while also being craftable. How to get the Scatter Signal
There are currently two ways to acquire this amazing Fusion Rifle: complete Coil or Riven’s Lair, or focus for it at Riven. As with all focusing methods, you must have obtained the weapon at least once before focusing for it. Additionally, Scatter Signal can be crafted, so after dismantling 5 “red borders”, head to the Enclave to shape your perfect roll. For Season 23, there is only one guaranteed red border each week, so get grinding while you can!

How good is Scatter Signal
In PvE, Rapid-Fire Fusions have been a solid choice for years now. Their low charge time allows them to fit perfectly into DPS weapon swapping strategies, and can act as an excellent major killer if needed. Scatter Signal is no different, and with the right roll, can even be almost on par with some of the heavier hitters in the Fusion Rifle family. It’s also the only Rapid-Fire to get Controlled Burst, arguably the best damage perk on a Fusion Rifle.
In PvP, Rapid-Fire Fusions still fall slightly behind due to their low range and needing to land all bolts in order to secure a kill. However, that isn’t holding Scatter back at all. It has some very good base stats and perk combos that will let it break the mold. Fusions might not be the meta pick they once were, but they’re still just as lethal in the right hands.

Scatter Signal God Rolls and Perk Pool
The Scatter Signal fusion rifle can roll with the following perks:
- Perk 1: Slice, Encore, Enlightened Action, Surplus, Loose Change, Overflow, Perpetual Motion
- Perk 2: Hatchling, Attrition Orbs, Controlled Burst, Kickstart, Deconstruct, Adagio, Over-Under
- Origin Trait: Dragon’s Vengeance
Scatter Signal PvE god roll
- Barrel: Arrowhead Break
- Battery: Accelerated Coils
- Perk 1: Overflow or Slice
- Perk 2: Controlled Burst or Hatchling
- Masterwork: Charge Time
Scatter Signal is arguably one of the best Fusion Rifles in the game, and as such, we need to push its strengths to the limit to obtain its optimal form. It has some great base Range and Stability, but its Recoil Direction is slightly erratic. To remedy that, throw on Arrowhead Break for a substantial boost to recoil and a decent boost to Handling. For battery, there’s no better PvE choice than Accelerated Coils. It might drop the Impact stat down slightly, but it’s nowhere close to being a noticeable difference.
For perks, Scatter has a few to choose from, but there’s only two in each column worth recommending for PvE. In Column 3, choose between Slice or Overflow. Overflow is great for those extended damage phases or for when you really don’t have time to reload, and Slice is great for keeping yourself alive by applying Sever to targets, reducing their damage by 30%! For Column 4, you could keep the Strand synergy going by choosing Hatchling, but most will want Controlled Burst for that extra 20% damage.
Scatter Signal PvP god roll
- Barrel: Arrowhead Break
- Battery: Particle Repeater or Projection Fuse
- Perk 1: Perpetual Motion or Encore
- Perk 2: Over-Under or Adagio
- Masterwork: Range or Stability
As previously stated, Fusion Rifles have seen better days in PvP, but that isn’t to say they’re completely out of the question. Scatter’s high stats let it shine more than most Rapid-Fires, so let’s keep those while pushing others up. Much like the PvE roll, Arrowhead Break will keep those shots on target, and Particle Repeater will ensure a more vertical pattern. If you feel like you need more Range, swap it out with Projection Fuse.
In Column 3, we have some rather hefty stat boosters. Perpetual Motion is a no-brainer, giving you Stability and Handling for being on the move. Encore, on the other hand, provides Range and Stability, though a kill is needed for it to activate. For Column 4, Over-Under or Adagio are the best choices you’ll get. Adagio is perfect for streak kills, while Over-Under is a one-size-fits-all solution to Over Shields, Woven Mail, and even Rifts.
