Released with the Renegades DLC, Riptide is a
Stasis Fusion Rifle that can be farmed in Crucible Ops activities. A Stasis take on the Aggressive frame, it won’t make you drop your Riptide or Burden of Guilt anytime soon, but it should be a fun addition to your arsenal. This guide covers its place in the current Meta, top rolls for PvE and PvP, and how to farm it.

How good is Riptide
Riptide has never been better, somehow completely outclassing its previous iteration. For starters, it maintained its old god roll, something rarely seen on weapon reissues. It also gained arguably some of the strongest perks for a fusion rifle, Closing Time and Controlled Burst, as well as much better origin traits. And last but not least, its perk pool is much smaller than before, and with Tier 5s guaranteeing 3 perks per column, it won’t be difficult to snag a god roll.
In PvP, it’s basically a Stasis version of Zealot’s Reward, right down to the god roll of Under Pressure and Closing Time. On top of that, you’ll have access to the Enhanced mods if you have a Tier 4 or 5 variant, allowing you to tack on an extra +10 range or stability! Truly, this is the greatest fusion rifle of all time. Riptide is S-Tier for PvE and S-Tier for PvP.

Riptide Perks and God Rolls
The Riptide Stasis Fusion rifle can roll with the following perks:
- Perk 1: Auto-Loading Holster, Overflow, Built to Blast, Subsistence, Cornered, Under Pressure.
- Perk 2: Chill Clip, Vorpal Weapon, Crystalline Corpsebloom, Closing Time, Controlled Burst, Collective Pugilism.
- Origin Trait: Roar of Battle, Wild Card.
Riptide PvE god rolls
| PvE Roll: All-Around | |
|---|---|
| Barrel | Fluted Barrel |
| Magazine | Enhanced Battery |
| Perk 1 | Auto-Loading Holster or Overflow (also good: Subsistence) |
| Perk 2 | Chill Clip or Controlled Burst (also good: Crystalline Corpsebloom) |
| Masterwork | Reload Speed or Charge Time |
| Origin Trait | Wild Card |
With the changes released since Riptide first graced us, we’re going to be going with Fluted Barrel and Enhanced Battery for our barrel and battery. Fluted Barrel is a standby for our PvE rolls, and Enhanced Battery is a requirement now that Chill Clip requires an additional shot to freeze a target when using rapid-fire fusions. This also frees up your mod slot for something different than Backup Mag
For Perk 1, it’s no surprise that Auto-Loading Holster or Overflow are our top choices. ALH, despite the many nerfs, still pairs very nicely with Chill Clip to give you that on-demand slow or freeze. Overflow also helps out Chill Clip, especially with its nerf, but also pairs nicely with our other Perk 2 option: Controlled Burst. While fusions aren’t main damage options, this combo can provide a nice backup option when needed.
Riptide PvP god rolls
| PvP Roll: All-Around | |
|---|---|
| Barrel | Arrowhead Break |
| Magazine | Projection Fuse |
| Perk 1 | Under Pressure |
| Perk 2 | Closing Time |
| Masterwork | Range |
| Origin Trait | Roar of Battle |
Much like our previous god roll, Arrowhead Break and Projection Fuse are our barrel and battery choices. Arrowhead Break will help keep the bolts more in line, and Projection Fuse will push out the drop off to just over 15 meters when ADS.
As for our Perks 1 and 2, it will be no other than Under Pressure and Closing Time. These two perks boost range, handling, stability, and accuracy as the magazine gets lower, and with the default ammo count being 2, you’re already close to, if not exactly at, max buffs on both. Shotty hand cannon kids won’t know what hit them.
How to get Riptide
Riptide can be earned primarily via Crucible rewards, but can also drop from Weekly Rewards engrams, as well as being sold by Zavala through his Weekly Vanguard Arms shipments. We cover all Crucible Ops Weapons here.
