Cold Comfort is a Stasis Legendary Rocket Launcher that drops from the new Ghosts of the Deep dungeon. And while it’s still hot off the presses, it is already one of the most popular Rocket Launchers in Season of the Deep.

Today, we’ll share the best ways to obtain multiple rolls of the weapon, and the best perks you want to hunt down.

How good is the Cold Comfort

Cold Comfort, as well as the other weapons from the Ghosts of the Deep, drop with a new, incredibly effective Restoration Ritual origin trait. If you execute a finisher on an enemy or revive a teammate, your magazine is immediately reloaded to double its capacity (2 rockets in the case of Cold Comfort) which can be highly effective in improving your DPS.

Cold Comfort is also noteworthy as it is the first weapon to roll with the valuable perk Bait and Switch outside of the Vow of the Disciple weapons. If you manage to land hits on an enemy with each of your equipped weapons, you can boost Cold Comfort’s damage by 35% – even more than the comparable Explosive Light perk.

Cold Comfort, as the name suggests, is a Stasis damage-type rocket launcher and is one of the most effective Stasis weapon options for DPS. Bottom line: Cold Comfort is a must-have and can be considered S Tier for PvE, especially for endgame content.

Best Cold Comfort Rolls for PvE and PvP

Cold Comfort PvE god roll

  • Barrel: Volatile Launch
  • Magazine: Alloy Casing
  • Perk 1: Envious Assassin
  • Perk 2: Bait and Switch
  • Masterwork: Handling

For our launcher barrel in column 1, we want to go for Volatile Launch. This barrel will greatly increase our blast radius and allows us to spread overall damage to more enemies simultaneously. This is perfect for clearing groups of enemies and ensuring no rockets go to waste when dealing damage to bosses. For our magazine in column 2, we want Alloy Casing to boost our reload speed and optimize our DPS.

In column 3, the first perk you want is Envious Assassin. Rapidly defeating enemies with another weapon and then switching to Cold Comfort will activate this perk, immediately injecting 2 rockets into your magazine. Together, with our origin trait which also overflows the magazine, you can potentially fire up to 4 rockets without the need to reload.

In Column 4 you’ll want the perk Bait and Switch. Previously exclusive to weapons in the Vow of the Disciple raid, this allows you to massively increase the damage output of Cold Comfort by 35% when you execute a finisher or revive a teammate. In comparison to Explosive Light, this is an easier perk to activate and has a greater damage increase.

Cold Comfort PvP god roll

  • Barrel: Volatile Launch
  • Magazine: Black Powder
  • Perk 1: Tracking Module
  • Perk 2: Cluster Bomb
  • Masterwork: Blast Radius

Since heavy ammo is rare in the Crucible and we want to make sure it doesn’t go to waste, we will focus on bumping the weapon’s blast radius. For the launcher barrel, you want Volatile Launch to greatly increase blast radius. In column 2, we want our magazine to be Black Powder to increase our blast radius even further.

In the third column, we want to go with Tracking Module to ensure we do not miss our limited rocket ammunition. In the final column, we want to go with Cluster Bomb in order to spread our damage to more opponents.

How to get the Cold Comfort rocket launcher

Cold Comfort is one of several weapons that drop from the new dungeon Ghosts of the Deep, and it can be acquired by completing any of the three main encounters of the dungeon. After you find your first roll, additional rolls may also be acquired from secret chests in the dungeon.

It’s also worth noting that the Ghosts of the Deep Dungeon is farmable. Even if you haven’t unlocked the Cold Comfort in your “Collections”, it can drop on repeat runs—there’s no weekly lockout.

Is Cold Comfort worth farming?

Cold Comfort is one of the best Legendary Rocket Launchers this season. Couple Bait and Switch with the new origin trait Restoration Ritual, and you are going to find this weapon to be highly effective in some of the most challenging PvE activities.

If you have not already, take the plunge and head into Ghosts of the Deep. Not only is it an excellently crafted and challenging dungeon, but with rewards like the god roll of Cold Comfort described here, you’ll find it more than worth your time. Just don’t forget to pack your scuba gear.
