Destiny 2 Hammerhead: God Rolls and How to get it

by | Apr 23, 2024

Into the Light has released, and from new activities to a social space to the return of a multitude of fan-favorite weapons, this free-to-play update seems to have more than enough to tide Guardians over before The Final Shape.

Today, we’ll be talking about one of the strongest weapons of the bunch, having a legacy greater than your average legendary weapon: Hammerhead.

Chapters

How good is the Hammerhead?

Just like nearly all other 450 RPM machine guns currently available, Hammerhead is likely to become a top pick in all areas of the game for years to come.

In PvE, Hammerhead offers pretty much everything you’d want. Whether you’re using it for ad clear, DPS, or in combination with a build that utilizes something like Gyrfalcon’s Hauberk on Hunter, Hammerhead’s diverse perk pool can cater in any direction.

As for The Crucible, Hammerhead’s consistent and stable feel alone makes it a top-tier choice. Even regardless of perks, the weapon will quickly become a staple heavy option for casual and competitive Guardians alike.

Tier Rank & “Roles”: Hammerhead is an S-Tier choice in both PvE and PvP.

Hammerhead PvE god roll

PvE Roll: All-Around
Barrel Smallbore
Magazine Flared Magwell
Perk 1 Rewind Rounds or Rampage
Perk 2 Killing Tally (also good: Onslaught)
Masterwork Handling

To begin with an even base of stats, we’ll opt for Smallbore, Flared Magwell, and a handling masterwork. From there, Rewind Rounds and Killing Tally are our two picks for main perks, but there’s tons of room for mixing it up here.

Fourth Time’s the Charm, Feeding Frenzy, and Envious Assassin all provide similar benefits to Rewind Rounds, while Rampage is perfect if you want to go all in on the damage output. Onslaught is also worth mentioning in the final column, which just got re-released and pairs perfectly with something like Rampage.

Recommended Loadout: The Mountaintop, Sunshot, Hammerhead.

Hammerhead PvP god roll

PvP Roll: All-Around
Barrel Hammer-Forged Rifling
Magazine Accurized Rounds
Perk 1 Under-Over (also good: Rampage)
Perk 2 Tap the Trigger
Masterwork Stability

We’ll begin by opting for higher range and stability through Hammer-Forged Rifling, Accurized Rounds, and a stability masterwork. Rampage may seem like a strange choice for perk one, but its increased damage is realistically the best thing you can get out of this column for The Crucible.

As for the final column, we chose Tap the Trigger since two damage perks seemed like overkill. However, if you want to try for an extremely short TTK instead of wanting more consistency, exploring other offerings in this column isn’t a bad idea.

How to get the Hammerhead

Hammerhead is a Void machine gun that was first released with the Black Armory content drop right after Forsaken. Now, the weapon has returned as a part of Lord Shaxx’s BRAVE arsenal, which is accessible to all players through April’s Into the Light update. While Hammerhead isn’t a part of the initial wave of weapons that arrived on April 9, players can expect to get their hands on it starting on April 23.

To obtain Hammerhead, you’ll need to play the new activity associated with Into the Light: Onslaught. Arcite also offers a quest that unlocks Hammerhead’s attunement, which, when activated in the Hall of Champions, increases drop chances for the weapon by 50%. We cover the entire Brave Weapons Rotation here.
