How to get Fang of Ir Yût
Obtaining Fang is as easy as completing the first or second encounter within the Crota’s End raid. Like most raid weapons, once it’s in your collections, you are free to purchase new rolls at the end-of-raid vendor for 20 Spoils of Conquest each. It is also craftable after acquiring 5 Deepsight drops, or “red boxes” as the community calls them.
As Crota’s End is the “newest” raid in Destiny, you can farm the encounters for more rewards after the first completion of the week, so it won’t be long til you see this drop. You can find the entire loot table for Crota’s End here.
How good is Fang of Ir Yût
While the weapon has only just returned to us, scout rifles are in a rather good spot right now, competing closely with pulse rifles for mid-long range damage. As Fang is a 260 RPM scout, its drawback is its range, but that doesn’t stop it from being a powerhouse in its own right.
Not only does it have the highest range stat of any Kinetic slot rapid-fire scout, but Fang also rolls with some incredible perks. Rewind Rounds, Rapid-Hit, and Shoot to Loot in column 3, and a suite of damage perks for column 4 are sure to make this a must-have for any scout lover, PvP or PvE.
Overall, we consider Fang of Ir Yût A-tier for PvE and B-tier for PvP.

Fang of Ir Yût Perks and God Rolls
The Fang of Ir Yût Rapid-fire Strand Scout Rifle can roll with the following perks:
- Perk 1: Shoot to loot, Tunnel Vision, Killing Wind, Surplus, Rewind Rounds, Rapid Hit, Keep Away
- Perk 2: High Ground, Opening Shot, Precision Instrument, Golden Tricorn, Sword Logic, Hatchling, Kill Clip
- Origin Trait: Cursed Thrall
Fang of Ir Yût PvE god roll
- Barrel: Smallbore or Full Bore
- Magazine: Flared Magwell or Light Mag
- Perk 1: Rewind Rounds (also good: Shoot to Loot)
- Perk 2: Kill Clip or Golden Tricorn
- Masterwork: Range
As mentioned earlier, Rapid-fire scouts fall behind ever so slightly because of their range. That isn’t to say they are useless because of it, however, as Aisha’s Embrace has long been a favorite among scout users. And Fang of Ir Yut has come to claim that spot. For your barrel, easily go with Smallbore for an equal stability and range increase, or Full Bore for a larger range increase at the expense of some stability. Flared Magwell or Light Mag are the best choices for the magazine, as Fang’s base mag size of 17 is sure to run out quickly, and the extra 2 from Appended/Extended Mag isn’t going to make a world of difference. Instead, it’s best to increase either stability or range, while also increasing reload speed.
Like many raid weapons, perk pools for Columns 3 and 4 are small but powerful. For PvE, the two go-to’s are Rewind Rounds and Shoot to Loot. Both are extremely useful perks in all manners of content via instant reloads for basically doing what the gun was meant to do: shoot. Column 4 is stacked with damage perks, so much so it is very difficult to decide what is the de facto best. You have Kill Clip for ease of use, Golden Tricorn for the highest overall buff, Precision Instrument for sustained damage, Hatchling for Strand synergy, and the brand-new Sword Logic perk, which is untested as of this writing. Go with your gut fpr column 4.
Fang of Ir Yût PvP god roll
- Barrel: Hammer-Forged Rifling
- Magazine: Ricochet Rounds
- Perk 1: Rapid Hit or Keep Away
- Perk 2: Kill Clip or Opening Shot
- Masterwork: Range or Reload Speed
Rapid-Fire Scouts are something of an outlier in PvP. Most scout users tend to lean more towards Precision or High-Impact frames, but Fang’s got a killer perk pool to let it stand out. As such, we’re going to want to bump the range and stability to help it compete, and for that, Hammer-Forged Rifling and Ricochet Rounds are your top picks. Stacking both of these gives a +15 to range and a +10 to stability, letting you not only land shots farther out, but being able to do so reliably.
Fang is one of two Rapid-Fire scouts to get the old Randy’s Throwing Knife roll of Rapid-Hit and Kill Clip, so for most, that will be enough. But if you want to break the mold, Fang can roll with Keep Away or Killing Wind in Column 3, both of which boost range and a number of other stats, such as reload and handling. In Column 4, it’s really dealer’s choice once more, but if you are going for a max range build, Opening Shot is there to give yet another increase to range.
