Conditional Finality is a Stasis Exotic shotgun that can only drop after defeating the Root of Nightmare’s final boss. This Shotgun is not only unique in that it can do both Stasis and Solar damage, but it’s also considered one of the best Raid exotics to come out in a long time.
For all of these reasons, Guardians continue to grind the Root of Nightmares Raid every single week, even if many dislike its lack of difficulty. In this guide, we cover how powerful this Exotic shotgun is and tell you exactly how to get the weapon.

How to get Conditional Finality
The Conditional Finality can only drop from the Root of Nightmare’s final boss. Taking into account that Root appears to be a relatively short and easy raid (World’s First cleared in under 3 hours), you shouldn’t have too much trouble farming it until you finally get your hands on the weapon.
Conditional Finality drop rate
Conditional Finality is estimated to have a base drop rate of around 5%. Note that actual drop rates are unknown, as Bungie has never shared that information; however, drop rates for all Raid and Dungeon Exotics should be in the 5% ballpark based on estimations from the community.
Overall, drop rates for Raid exotics are abysmally low but Bungie has taken steps to combat this issue; you can now complete specific triumphs and challenges to increase your drop rates. You can read all about it here. In this case, the following Triumphs will increase your odds of getting it to drop:
Triumph | Rate Boost |
Living Nightmares | +1 |
Dream Weavers | +1 |
Classic Horror | +1 |

Is Conditional Finality farmable?
Unfortunately, you cannot farm the Conditional Finality shotgun. Raid exotics cannot be farmed infinitely, unless their respective raid is the weekly featured raid. Alas, the Root of Nightmares is not part of the rotation this season, which means you only get a chance to obtain the Exotic shotgun once per character per week.
By the way, you can farm the Root of Nightmare’s Legendary weapons and armor at will; the newest raid (and dungeon) can be infinitely farmed until they’re replaced by something newer.

How good is this Raid Exotic Shotgun?
Conditional Finality features unique Exotic perks that set it apart:
- Paracausal Pellets: Landing nearly all Stasis pellets will freeze targets; landing nearly all Solar pellets will ignite targets.
- Split Decision: Dual Barrels split into Stasis and Solar damage.
Conditional Finality is remarkable. In PvE, it has Champion stunning capabilities and excellent potential damage with a hot-swap setup, rivaling even Izanagi’s Burden. In PvP, it has great handling, solid 1-hit kill range, and can take down supers with its Freeze-Ignite effect.
Because of its unique perks, combined with excellent base stats and insane versatility, we consider the Conditional Finality an S Tier Exotic for PvE.
Before you go…
While you farm the new raid on a weekly basis, don’t forget that there are other top-tier Exotics worth your attention, such as the Osteo Striga or The Navigator. Alternatively, you can find all the new Lightfall Exotics here.
