Destiny 2 Wish-Keeper: God Rolls, Catalyst & How to get it

by | Aug 26, 2024

Many players are still looking for good Strand weapons to complete their builds. For many, Wish-Keeper is the answer to their calls. It’s one of the best Strand weapons the game has seen, and there’s no doubt that even those who typically stray away from bows will gravitate toward it.

Today, we cover the best craftable rolls for Wish-Keeper and tell you how to get both the weapon and the catalyst.

Chapters

How good is Wish-Keeper?

Wish-Keeper is clearly the best pairing for nearly every Strand build right now, making it an unparalleled choice.

Wish-Keeper takes notes from Hierarchy of Needs, Anarchy, and Strand subclasses to craft a weapon that is as fun to use as it is potent. Despite recent nerfs, suspend is still one of the most powerful elemental effects in the game. Especially in PvE, the crowd control the debuff provides is so effective that it frequently trivializes even the most difficult activities.

Despite its potency in PvE, Wish-Keeper seems like it’ll be nothing more than a fun option in The Crucible. While suspend isn’t something to completely neglect in PvP, it isn’t anything to write home about. Plus, getting the exotic perk to proc is a bit more of a chore than in PvE—while not impossible, it can be too inconvenient to warrant the use of an exotic slot.

Wish-Keeper Crafted God Rolls & Perk Pool

The crafted Wish-Keeper Exotic bow can equip the following traits:

  • Grip: Heavy Grip, Polymer Grip, Smooth Grip, Textured Grip
  • Catalyst Trait: Enduring Snare Retrofit, Multi-Threaded Snare Retrofit, Vorpal Weapon Retrofit, Hatchling Retrofit

Wish-Keeper PvE God rolls

  • Bowstring: Natural String
  • Arrow: Compact Arrow Shaft
  • Grip: Polymer Grip
  • Catalyst: Multi-Threaded Snare Retrofit (also good: Hatchling Retrofit)

When building Wish-Keeper for PvE, we’ll start with Natural String, Compact Arrow Shaft, and Polymer Grip for increases in as many stats as possible.

The main thing that matters here is the catalyst perk you select. If you’re a fan of Wish-Keeper’s extremely Suspend-focused playstyle, Multi-Threaded Snare Retrofit is easily the best choice here, allowing your traps to Suspend even more targets. If you instead want to make the weapon a bit more well-rounded, Hatchling Retrofit can prove useful in a variety of ways, including the ability to charge Snareweaver quicker.

Wish-Keeper PvP God rolls

  • Bowstring: Agile Bowstring
  • Arrow: Straight Fletching
  • Grip: Smooth Grip
  • Catalyst: Vorpal Weapon Retrofit

Simply put, Wish-Keeper isn’t a great option in The Crucible, no matter what perks you select for it. To make it the best it can be, however, we’ll start with Agile Bowstring, Straight Fletching, and Smooth Grip for added stability, handling, and accuracy.

The four catalyst perks don’t really add too much to this weapon’s kit in PvP. We recommend Vorpal Weapon Retrofit simply because Guardians don’t frequently fall into the weapon’s signature Suspend traps, but Hatchling Retrofit can also be used if you prefer.

How to get Wish-Keeper

Previously part of the Season of the Wish (S23) loot pool, the Wish-Keeper can be acquired from the Starcrossed Exotic Mission. Available every few weeks as part of the Exotic Mission Rotator, Starcrossed’s rewards drop as follows:

  • The first completion of the mission on Standard or Expert difficulty will award the Exotic Deepsight (craftable) Wish-Keeper.
  • Each weekly completion of the Exotic mission (any difficulty) will award an intrinsic upgrade to be used when crafting Wish-Keeper.

🛑 Starcrossed requires ownership of the Lightfall DLC.

How to get the Wish-Keeper Catalysts

The Wish-Keeper Catalysts can be acquired by completing Starcrossed on Expert difficulty. Each completion awards a Catalyst upgrade, meaning you’ll need four Expert runs to obtain them. These are the four Catalysts available for Wish-Keeper:

  • Enduring Snare Refit: Snareweaver traps last longer.
  • Multi-Threaded Snare Refit: Snareweaver traps can suspend more targets.
  • Vorpal Weapon Refit: Increased damage against bosses, vehicles, and Guardians with their Super active.
  • Hatchling Refit: Precision final blows or rapidly defeating targets with a non-precision weapon spawns a Threadling at the target’s location.

Once unlocked, you can craft one Catalyst at a time through the Enclave on Mars. Then, you’ll need several hundred weapon kills to unlock it. Typical farming methods such as Shuro Chi or the opening section of Grasp of Avarice will speed things along.

Best Wish-Keeper Build: Ensnaring Archer

Goal of the Build: Suspend all enemies on the battlefield while allowing the user to take advantage of unique and powerful exotic effects.

Mandatory Gear: Wish-Keeper is the only required piece of exotic gear for this build. Your exotic armor choice is completely up to you, and we suggest going with one of the following neutral picks:

  • Aspects: Mindspun Invocation and The Wanderer.
  • Fragments: Thread of Mind, Thread of Generation, Thread of Continuity, and Thread of Warding.
  • Abilities & Stats: Shackle Grenade works great with Mindspun Invocation and allows for even more suspension. For stats, look for Discipline, Resilience, and Recovery.
  • Mods:
    • Helmet: Harmonic Siphon
    • Arms: Grenade Kickstart, Impact Induction
    • Chest: Resist Mods
    • Legs: Weapon Surge mods of your preferred element.
    • Class Item: Bomber, Outreach

Gameplay Loop

Consume your Shackle Grenade to gain 25 seconds of suspending bullets. Using Wish-Keeper with this will build up your charge for its suspending traps, thereby increasing crowd control even further.

Additionally, throwing or shooting Tangles will cause more suspending explosions, allowing you even more ways to stop your enemies. This can all tie into the exotic armor of your choosing, which can buff you and your allies in a variety of ways.
