Destiny 2 Wish-Keeper + Catalyst: How to get them

by | Mar 8, 2024

Many players are still looking for good Strand weapons to complete their builds. For many, Wish-Keeper is the answer to their calls. It’s the best Strand weapon the game has seen, and there’s no doubt that even those who typically stray away from bows will gravitate toward it.

Today, we cover how powerful this Exotic bow is and tell you how to get both the weapon and the catalyst.

How to get the Wish-Keeper Catalyst

The Wish-Keeper Catalysts (all four of them) can be acquired by completing the “Constellation: Wish” quest chain. This excellent video guide from Ninja Pups explains how in detail.

Just like Revision Zero, Wish-Keeper has four catalysts that can be equipped as refits to the weapon:

  • Enduring Snare Refit: Snareweaver traps last longer.
  • Multi-Threaded Snare Refit: Snareweaver traps can suspend more targets.
  • Vorpal Weapon Refit: Increased damage against bosses, vehicles, and Guardians with their Super active.
  • Hatchling Refit: Precision final blows or rapidly defeating targets with a non-precision weapon spawns a Threadling at the target’s location.

Once unlocked, you can select equip one Catalyst at a time through the Enclave on Mars. Then, you’ll need several hundred weapon kills to unlock it. Using typical farming methods such as Shuro Chi or the opening section of Grasp of Avarice will speed things along.

How to get the Wish-Keeper Combat Bow

Wish-Keeper drops from Season of the Wish’s Starcrossed mission, which takes place in the Black Garden.

Similar to Operation: Seraph’s Shield Exotic quest, you’ll obtain the weapon after completing the mission once, at which point you’ll be able to craft Wish-Keeper to fill whatever role you need it to.

How good is Wish-Keeper?

Wish-Keeper is clearly the best pairing for nearly every Strand build right now, making it unparalleled for the time being.

Wish-Keeper’s exotic traits are the following:

  • Snareweaver: Precision hits and final blows build energy towards a Snareweaver arrow that can be fired from the hip. On impact, Snareweaver arrows create a pattern of traps that suspend nearby targets.
  • Silkbound Slayer: This weapon deals bonus damage to suspended targets. Gain faster draw time for a short duration when you suspend a target from any source or damage a suspended target with this weapon.

Wish-Keeper takes notes from Hierarchy of Needs, Anarchy, and Strand subclasses to craft a weapon that is as fun to use as it is potent. Despite recent nerfs, suspend is still one of the most powerful elemental effects in the game. Especially in PvE, the crowd control the debuff provides is so effective that it frequently trivializes even the most difficult activities.

Despite its potency in PvE, Wish-Keeper seems like it’ll be nothing more than a fun option in The Crucible. While suspend isn’t something to completely neglect in PvP, it isn’t anything to write home about. Plus, getting the exotic perk to proc is a bit more of a chore than in PvE—while not impossible, it can be too inconvenient to warrant the use of an exotic slot.

Because of all that, Wish-Keeper is S-Tier in PvE and B-Tier in PvP.

Best Wish-Keeper Build

Made for Broodweaver Warlocks, this build excels heavily in crowd control with multiple suspend elements while having some amount of freedom to spec into your preference of additional buffs via exotic armor.

Goal of the Build: Suspend all enemies on the battlefield while allowing the user to take advantage of unique and powerful exotic effects.

Mandatory Gear: Wish-Keeper is the only required piece of exotic gear for this build. Your exotic armor choice is completely up to you, and we suggest going with one of the following neutral picks:

  • Aspects: Mindspun Invocation and The Wanderer.
  • Fragments: Thread of Mind, Thread of Generation, Thread of Continuity, and Thread of Warding.
  • Abilities & Stats: Shackle Grenade works great with Mindspun Invocation and allows for even more suspension. For stats, look for Discipline, Resilience, and Recovery.
  • Mods:
    • Helmet: Harmonic Siphon
    • Arms: Grenade Kickstart, Impact Induction
    • Chest: Resist Mods
    • Legs: Weapon Surge mods of your preferred element.
    • Class Item: Bomber, Outreach

Gameplay Loop

Consume your Shackle Grenade to gain 25 seconds of suspending bullets. Using Wish-Keeper with this will build up your charge for its suspending traps, thereby increasing crowd control even further.

Additionally, throwing or shooting Tangles will cause more suspending explosions, allowing you even more ways to stop your enemies. This can all tie into the exotic armor of your choosing, which can buff you and your allies in a variety of ways.
