Destiny 2 Berserker: Best Builds, Exotics & Fragments

by | Feb 1, 2024

Berserker is one of the five Titan subclasses available in Destiny 2. As of Season of the Wish (S23), Berserker is one of the strongest subclasses in the entire game.

This guide covers the best Berserker Titan builds, Fragments, and Exotics that make Berserker such an exceptionally powerful subclass.

What is Berserker in Destiny 2?

Berserker is the name of the Strand-based subclass available to Titans in Destiny 2.

Best Berserker Fragments & Exotics

Titan Subclass Strand

Berserker (Strand)

  • Ranking: S Best

The new kid on the block, Berserker Titan, has quickly become one of the most dominant PVE subclasses. Capable of easy Woven Mail generation for great damage resist combined with some of the best ad-clear in the game, Berserker is an S Tier subclass for all PVE activities.

Preferred Exotic: Berserker is all about a fast-paced, in-your-face playstyle and exotics that fit this playstyle or build on the powerful Strand mechanics work best. These include Abeyant Leap, Synthoceps, and Wormgod's Caress.

Increased melee lunge range. Improved melee and Super damage when you're surrounded.

Preferred Aspects and Fragments:

  • Aspects: Into the Fray and Banner of War are the most used aspects for Strand builds. Into the Fray provides near constant uptime of Woven Mail through Tangles, while Banner of War’s insane damage buff, health bumps, and support potential make it a must-have for any activity. Drengr’s Lash is a requirement for any suspend-focused build, and Flechette Storm is a fun, melee-centered aspect that is great for lower-end content.
  • Fragments: Thread of Mind, Thread of Continuity, Thread of Generation, Thread of Ascent.

Preferred Abilities and Stats:

  • Stats: Resilience, Discipline, Strength.
  • Abilities: Currently, Berserker only has 1 option for both the Melee and Super, Frenzied Blade, and Bladefury, respectively. Thankfully both of these are strong, especially with the additional charges Frenzied Blade has. Grapple Grenade is perfect if leaning into Banner of War, as the grapple melee damage is also buffed, while Shackle Grenade is perfect for suspend builds.

Berserker Titan builds for PvE

These are some of the best Destiny 2 Berserker builds right now; you can find more excellent Titan builds here:

Come on and Slam

Excels In: All Content (Seasonal Activities, Strikes, etc.)

Goal of the Build: Combine Titan’s most powerful exotics into one explosively destructive build.

Mandatory Gear: Stoicism with Spirit of Synthoceps and Spirit of Inmost Light. Khvostov 7G-0X  is recommended.

  • Aspects: Consecration and Knockout (alternative: Diamond Lance).
  • Fragments: Facet of Courage, Facet of Balance, Facet of Protection, Facet of Ruin, and Facet of Purpose.
  • Abilities: Glacier Grenace, Frenzied Blade, Thruster. Choose between Glacial Quake and Twilight Arsenal for Super.
  • Stats: Resilience 🡒 Strength 🡒 Recovery → Discipline.
  • Mods:
    • Helmet: Hands-On and a Siphon Mod matching your Primary weapon.
    • Arms: Heavy Handed, Momentum Transfer
    • Chest: Relevant Resistance and Reserve Mods.
    • Legs: Better Already, Absolution, and Recuperation.
    • Class Item: Powerful Attraction, Outreach, and Bomber.

Gameplay Loop

As a pure ability spam build, there is no nuanced loop here, but to help take down larger targets, toss your Glacier Grenade prior to rushing in, as you’ll gain a 10% bonus to the Consecration slams. If you went with Diamond Lance, the slow/freeze it applies will also count. Make sure to be tossing your grenade as much as possible to maintain the juiced regen. With this, you should be able to build Transcendence and Super extremely quick as well.

The real strengths here are the ease of use and raw power. Simply activating any of your abilities buffs the regen of the others, and with Frenzied Blade giving you three charges, it’s very rare you’ll find yourself on cooldown. On top of this, the 165% damage buff from Synthoceps also applies to the Consecration slam, so it shouldn’t be hard to see why this build is our #1!

Super-Titan Prime

Excels In: Casual Content (Seasonal Activities, Strikes, etc.)

Goal of the Build: Take advantage of Cuirass’s buff to fly headfirst into your problems over and over and over again.

Mandatory Gear: Cuirass of the Falling Star. A weapon with Demolitionist is recommended.

  • Aspects: Knockout and Consecration
  • Fragments: Facet of Awakening, Facet of Courage, Facet of Dawn, Facet of Protection, Facet of Purpose
  • Abilities: Any Grenade, Frenzied Blade, Thruster, Thundercrash.
  • Stats: Resilience 🡒 Discipline → Intellect.
  • Mods:
    • Helmet: Ashes to Assets, Matching Siphon.
    • Arms: Firepower, Grenade Kickstart, Bolstering Detonation.
    • Chest: Resistance Mods based on your enemies.
    • Legs: Innervation, Insulation, Elemental Charge.
    • Class Item: Powerful Attraction (as many as possible).

Gameplay Loop

Although the days of Thundercrash being the best damage super for Titans have long passed, there is no denying the fun and power behind this Super. Cuirass of the Falling Star buffs its damage by 55% (this is because the Super itself got buffed!) and gives 50% damage resistance after it ends, and thanks to a buff in Episode: Revenant, it now also gives Super energy on melee kills while Amplified.

Gameplay loop is rather simple: Become Amplified by getting any melee kill, and then use Consecration on large groups to generate Orbs via Heavy Handed, and Super energy via Cuirass’s perk and Hands-On.

Once your Super is charged, find whatever high-tier enemy needs removal, and fire it off. Use the damage resistance to reposition to safety, and start from the top.

Titan Strand

Abeyant Leap

Excels In: Endgame (Dungeons, Raids, Legend content)

Goal of the Build: This build allows a single titan to dominate large areas by Suspending enemies whilst also providing Woven Mail to you and your allies.

Mandatory Gear: Abeyant Leap. Wish-Keeper is recommended.

  • AspectsInto the Fray and Drengr’s Lash.
  • Fragments: Thread of Mind, Thread of Continuity, and Thread of Generation. The last Fragment is up to you.
  • Abilities: Rally Barricade and Shackle Grenade.
  • Stats: Resilience 🡒 Recovery.
  • Mods:
    • Helmet: Siphon Mod matching your weapon.
    • Arms: Grenade Kickstart.
    • Chest: Relevant Resistance and Reserve Mods.
    • Legs: Stacks on Stacks.
    • Class Item: Utility Kickstart.

Gameplay Loop

The centerpiece of this build is the Abeyant Leap exotic. The exotic perk Puppeteer’s Control buffs Drenger’s Lash by creating additional ripples. These ripples suspend enemies and allow for some of the best ad control in the game. Defeating these enemies will refund portions of your barricade due to Thread of Mind and create Tangles and Orbs of Power.

The tangles can be used to grant yourself and allies the Woven Mail buff, whereas the orbs of power can be used to proc Grenade/Utility Kickstart reducing the cooldown of these abilities. This setup allows you to infinitely suspend large groups of enemies.

Berserker Subclass in PvP (Strand)

Berserker (Strand)

  • Ranking: B Average

Strand logo Destiny 2 artStrand Titan in PVP fails to meet the same levels of power that it shows for PVE. It is far harder to maintain the gameplay loop that Strand is great at. Certain Fragments are less powerful/have less duration which puts Berserker into a very niche, weak state. In most situations, other subclasses will be far more effective and valuable for PVP, and Berseker struggles to close the power gap between them.

Preferred Exotic: Abeyant Leap is currently the only Strand-based exotic in Titan’s arsenal. Whilst it can be used effectively, it is often better to use a strong neutral game exotic like Dunemarchers or Antaeus Wards.

Improved slide. Sliding after sprinting for a short time reflects incoming projectiles.

Preferred Aspects and Fragments:

  • Aspects: Drengr’s Lash and Into the Fray is probably the best combination for a PVP-based Berserker build. They have great synergy with each other, and whilst Flechette Storm is fun, it is way too risky to use inside PVP due to the large amount of time you spend in the air.
  • Fragments:  Thread of Mind, Thread of Continuity, Thread of Generation, Thread of Ascent.

Preferred Abilities and Stats:

  • Stats: Resilience, Discipline, Strength.
  • Abilities: Berserker only has 1 melee and super choice currently, which leaves debating what grenades to take as the main issue. The two best options for PVP are the Grapple Grenade and Shackle Grenade. Grapple Grenade provides great movement and allows Strand Titan to be the most mobile Titan subclass. Shackle Grenade is a great offensive option. Being able to suspend enemies makes for easy kills, which can then tie into the gameplay loop for chaining even more kills. Rally barricade is again the best choice due to the larger amount of cover it offers.
