Hunter Solar builds

Solar Hunter Featured Destiny 2

 Radiant Assassin

Excels in: Solo Content

Goal of the Build: Have infinite survivability through invisibility and a constant source of healing by having access to unlimited throwing knives.

Mandatory Gear: Assassin's Cowl. A Solar Primary such as Zaouli’s Bane and close-range Special weapon are recommended.

  • Aspects: Knock ‘em Dow and On Your Mark (to equip 5 Fragments).
  • Fragments: Ember of Torches, Ember of Mercy, Ember of Torches, Ember of Empyrean, Ember of Singeing, and Ember of Searing.
  • Abilities: Blade Barrage, Gambler’s Dodge, Knife Trick, and Healing Grenade.
  • Stats Priority: Resilience 🡒 Discipline 🡒 Mobility.
  • Mods:
    • Helmet: Hands-On, Harmonic Siphon, Powerful Friends.
    • Arms: Heavy Handed, Focusing Strike, Impact Induction.
    • Chest: Concussive Dampener and Resistance Mods based on your enemies.
    • Legs: Weapon Surge Mods matching your weapons.
    • Class Item: Time Dilation, Reaper, Powerful Attraction.

Gameplay Loop

The gameplay loop is quite simple with Assassin’s Cowl. The goal is to chain Knife Trick kills together to ensure maximum uptime on your invisibility and to have as much healing as possible. If you miss, Gambler’s Dodge is there to pick up the slack and provide you with another melee. Gambler’s Dodge and your melee will also recharge faster by scorching enemies with your Knife Trick.

You also have options like Healing Grenade if you find yourself out of a dodge and a melee ability. This can help fill in the gaps where you may miss your abilities on a target and need some survivability.

You always want to land the final blow with your knives, so if you can’t outright one-shot an enemy, prime them first with your weapon and finish them with the knife. Constantly getting kills with your knives will spam Orbs of Power for yourself and for your team.

Relativism featured Destiny 2

The Transcendent Tank

Excels in: Grandmaster Content

Goal of the Build: Combo your abilities to maintain high levels of damage resistance while leveraging your ability regeneration in Transcendence as often as possible.

Mandatory Gear: Relativism with Spirit of Inmost Light and Spirit of Cyrtarachne.

  • Aspects: Stylish Executioner and Ascension or Winter’s Shroud
  • Fragments: Facet of Purpose, Facet of Dawn, Facet of Protection, Facet of Hope, and Facet of Balance
  • Abilities: Golden Gun or Silkstrike, Grapple, Threaded Spike, and Gambler’s Dodge.
  • Stats Priority: Resilience 🡒 Discipline 🡒 Recovery.
  • Mods:
    • Helmet: Siphon matching your weapons, Heavy Ammo Scout, and Heavy Ammo Finder.
    • Arms: Heavy Handed, Impact Induction, and Focusing Strike.
    • Chest: Resistance Mods based on your enemies.
    • Legs: Weapon Surge matching your weapons, Recuperation, and Innervation
    • Class Item: Time Dilation and Font of Restoration

Gameplay Loop

This build focuses on using your abilities to maintain a high level of damage resistance, leveraging damage debuff effects such as Sever and the powerful bonus of Woven Mail and other damage resistance sources. Combined, it is nearly impossible to die, even in the most challenging content, such as Grandmaster Nightfalls.

Generally, you will want to take advantage of Tangles and maximize uptime on the Empowered Abilities buff, as this massively boosts your ability regeneration rate, improving your Woven Mail and Sever uptime. On top of this, you can weave in Ascension dodges to give yourself Amplified and jolt enemies. Alternatively, Winter’s Shroud can be used to slow enemies, providing excellent utility in certain situations.

What makes this build incredibly special is the fact that it is entirely flexible in weapon choice. You can run any weapon you like, and the build will still function as usual, making this setup even better in content containing Champions as you can tailor your loadout for them rather than the build. This build will also let you run more generally powerful weapons, such as a double Special Ammo Weapon setup involving weapons like VS Velocity Baton to generate Orbs of Power with Attrition Orbs. Weapons that build your Transcendence bar quickly are ideal so that you can gain 32% damage resistance from Facet of Protection and Transcendence’s base damage resistance buff.

Overall, look to maintain your defensive buffs like Woven Mail and spam your abilities as often as possible to ensure you keep Empowered Abilities x2 to continue the loop of damage resistance.

Gifted Conviction Exotic featured Destiny 2

Jolting Resolve

Excels In: Endgame (Dungeons, Raids, Expert content)

Goal of the Build: Use your Prismatic abilities to take down enemies and fuel your damage resistance while also using your weapons to get kills.

Mandatory Gear: Gifted Conviction. A strong Kinetic weapon such as the Multimach CCX is also recommended.

  • Aspects: Ascension and Stylish Executioner
  • Fragments: Facet of Hope, Facet of Purpose, Facet of Protection, Facet of Dawn, and Facet of Solitude
  • Abilities: Silktrike or Silence and Squall, Grapple, Threaded Spike, Gambler’s Dodge
  • Stats Priority: Max Resilience 🡒 Discipline🡒 Recovery.
  • Mods:
    • Helmet: Siphon matching Primary ammo weapon, Heavy Ammo Finder, and Heavy Ammo Scout
    • Arms: Loader matching Primary ammo weapon, Focusing Strike, and Bolstering Detonation
    • Chest: Stat mod and damage resistance mods matching your enemy’s damage type
    • Legs: Weapon Surge matching your weapon type, Recuperation, and Better Already
    • Class Item: Stat mod, Time Dilation, and Font of Restoration

Gameplay Loop

As evidenced by the name of the build, the primary function of this build is to Jolt enemies using Gifted Conviction and gain damage resistance from it while also using your Threaded Spike to Sever combatants on top of your Facet of Solitude Sever.

Typically, pairing a good Kinetic weapon such as Multimach, Midnight Coup, or Unloved with this build is best, but you can choose anything. This allows you to compliment your ability kills with standard weapon kills to help build your Transcendence bar, granting you even more damage resistance and some bonus damage.

Collecting Orbs of Power is crucial, so ensure to generate as many as possible; an Attrition Orbs + Kinetic Tremors Multimach is incredible for this, as with a Kinetic Siphon, you can generate a ton of Orbs. This allows you to activate Facet of Purpose as often as possible, granting either Woven Mail or Frost Armor for a short duration, which massively boosts your survivability, especially when paired with Recuperation and Better Already.

This build is perfect in endgame scenarios where there isn’t a boss to defeat, allowing you to run mini-boss-killing weapons such as a Fusion Rifle and a Machine Gun or even options such as Ergo Sum to build your Transcendence bar further.

Warlock Solar builds

Solar Warlock

Radiant Sunbracer

Excels In: Endgame (Dungeons, Raids, Legend content)

Goal of the Build: Rain terror from above by throwing an infinite amount of Solar Grenades. It provides excellent ad clear and can give you a seemingly infinite damage buff via surge mods.

Mandatory Gear: Sunbracers. A Solar weapon with Incandescent is recommended.

  • AspectsTouch of Flame and Heat Rises.
  • Fragments: Ember of Ashes, Ember of Searing, Ember of Empyrean, and Ember of Resolve
  • Abilities & Stats: Well of Radiance, Solar Grenade, Phoenix Dive, and Incinerator Snap.
  • Stats: Max Resilience 🡒 Max Recovery.
  • Mods:
    • Helmet: x2 Ashes to Assets, Harmonic Siphon.
    • Arms: Firepower, Bolstering Detonation, Momentum Transfer
    • Chest: Relevant Resistance and Reserve Mods.
    • Legs: x2 Solar Weapon Surge
    • Class Item: -

Gameplay Loop

Get a kill with your charged melee ability to start the gameplay loop. If you’re struggling with this step, try binding your charged melee to a unique button so you can send it off at a more specific time.

Getting that powered melee kill will proc Sunbracers, granting you five seconds of ‘infinite’ Solar Grenades. Realistically, you can only fire a maximum of five during this time due to the time it takes to execute the animation. Swallow your first grenade to get Heat Rises, then take to the skies and watch everything below burn via your other Solar Grenades. Any kills in the air (including those from the grenades) will give you 30% of your melee energy, allowing you to repeat this loop infinitely.

If you ever fail to kill something with your melee, just get kills in the air with your weapons—you’ll get it back soon after due to Heat Rises. As a nice bonus, casting Phoenix Dive while Heat Rises is active grants Restoration, which you can extend with Solar kills via Ember of Empyrean.

Boots of the Assembler Warlock

Noble Assembler

Excels In: Casual & Endgame (Dungeons, Raids, Legend content)

Goal of the Build: Empower yourself and allies using support exotics and abilities such as Healing Grenade and Lumina.

Mandatory Gear: Boots of the Assembler and Lumina.

  • Aspects: Heat Rises and Touch of Flame.
  • Fragments: Ember of Benevolence, Ember of Torches, and Ember of Solace (final Fragment is up to you).
  • Abilities: Well of Radiance, Celestial Fire, Healing Grenade, and Healing Rift.
  • Stats: Discipline 🡒 Resilience 🡒 Recovery.
  • Mods:
    • Helmet: Kinetic Siphon.
    • Arms: Impact Induction, Focusing Strike.
    • Chest: Resistance Mods based on your enemies.
    • Legs: Innervation, Insulation.
    • Class Item: Bomber.

Gameplay Loop

While there isn’t a specific gameplay ‘loop’ for this build, everything works in conjunction, and understanding all the moving parts is vital to your success.

Kills with Lumina will drop Noble Rounds, which you can shoot at allies to give both you and them a damage buff. This will also proc Ember of Benevolence, giving you more ability energy. This ability energy will give you your melee back, which, when used, will provide you and your nearby allies Radiant (which, once again, procs Benevolence). Throwing or swallowing your grenade will also grant Restoration, giving you even more ability energy.

Lastly, placing down your rift will activate Boots of the Assembler’s perk, spawning Noble Seekers and empowering allies while giving you the Ember of Benevolence buff. As you can see, everything has a place in this build, allowing you to chain support ability after support ability. Even better, you’ll receive buffs from most of these sources, making you more potent while also helping allies.

Titan Solar builds

Loreley Splendor Helm Titan Exotic featured Destiny 2

Undying Flame

Excels In: Solo, Endgame, Grandmasters.

Goal of the Build: This build aims to create an unkillable Titan by harnessing the power of Solar 3.0 and the Loreley Splendor exotic helm.

Mandatory gear: Loreley Splendor Helm. Solar weapons are recommended.

  • Aspects: Sol Invictus and Roaring Flames (for endgame content) or Consecration (fun and solid too).
  • Fragments: Ember of Solace, Ember of Singeing, Ember of Empyrean, and Ember of Torches.
  • Abilities: Healing Grenade for extra survivability or Solar Grenade for ad clear. Throwing Hammer, Rally Barricade.
  • Stats: Max Resilience.
  • Mods:
    • Helmet: Siphon matching your subclass.
    • Arms: Heavy Handed.
    • Chest: Resistance Mods based on your enemies.
    • Legs: -
    • Class Item: -

Gameplay Loop

This is one of the easiest and most straightforward builds for Titan. It requires little to no setup and functions extremely well in all levels of content.

This build revolves around the Loreley Splendor exotic helmet. Its exotic perk, “Cauterizing Flame,” creates a sunspot upon barricade cast or when you are critically wounded. This allows you to get the Restoration buff which regenerates your health and shields over time. This cannot be stopped by damage and only runs out when the buff itself runs out. Ember of Solace increases this duration.

Ember of the Empyrean allows you to maintain this restoration buff by chaining solar weapon kills to refresh the duration. Opting for Synthoceps instead of Loreley Splendor removes your barricade from the loop, but the whole idea of throwing your hammer over and over at enemies stays the same.

Icefall Mantle featured Destiny 2

Stasis Tank

Excels In: Endgame (Dungeons, Raids, Legend content)

Goal of the Build: Become a walking tank thanks to Icefall Mantle and Diamond Lance reworks.

Mandatory gear: Icefall Mantle and a Stasis Primary. A Stasis Heavy weapon is recommended as well.

  • Aspects: Diamond Lance and Tectonic Harvest
  • Fragments: Whisper of Conduction, Whisper of Fissures, Whisper of Shards, Whisper of Rime, and Whisper of Chains.
  • Abilities: Towering Barricade, Shiver Strike, and Glacial Grenade
  • Stats: Resilience 🡒 Discipline🡒 Strength.
  • Mods:
    • Helmet: Harmonic Siphon, Heavy Ammo Finder.
    • Arms: Bolstering Detonation, Focusing Strike.
    • Chest: Relevant Resistance Mods.
    • Legs: Stasis Surge.
    • Class Item: Powerful Attraction, Time Dilation.

Gameplay Loop

A lot changed with Icefall Mantle’s rework. First and foremost, you are no longer slowed to walking speed when activating your class ability and it begins regeneration the moment it is activated, as opposed to needing to fully expire. Secondly, you heal a small amount of HP when gaining Frost Armor stacks, and the class ability activation gives you full Frost Armor stacks (5 base, 8 with Rime) as well as freezing enemies within a small radius. Finally, it no longer provides a Stasis weapon buff.

With this in mind, the loop is as follows: using your grenade or Diamond Lance, create Stasis crystals and then shatter them to create Stasis Shards and boost your grenade regen. Picking up these shards grants you Frost Armor and health. Repeat this loop, making sure to slam your Diamond Lances down when possible to generate free Frost Armor stacks. When things get dicey, pop your class ability to get full Frost Armor stacks and regen 80 HP, as well as freezing anything that dared get close.
