Like the Austringer and Imperial Decree, CALUS Mini-Tool is a returning weapon that quickly reclaimed its place at the top of the meta. Arguably one of the most popular weapons during The Witch Queen year, CALUS Mini-Tool remains an excellent addition to any Solar PvE builds.

How to get CALUS Mini-Tool
You can farm the CALUS Mini-Tool by completing the Presage Exotic mission on any difficulty setting. Presage is part of the Exotic Mission Rotator, and with three Missions in rotation, you can only farm Presage every three weeks. On the flip side, CALUS Mini-Tool is craftable. After finding 5 red border versions, you can craft your own make it your own.
Farming this weapon does require ownership of either the Beyond Light DLC or Season of the Chosen.
You can find all of our D2 Weapon God Rolls here.
How good is CALUS Mini-Tool
This SMG is the only SMG that can roll with Incandescent, which is the main reason why the CALUS Mini-Tool gets so much attention and is still one of the top 10 most used weapons for PvE. Its only competition is the Tarrabah exotic SMG and, to a lesser extent, Borrowed Time from Gambit. But neither can even come close to the CALUS Mini-Tool.
For PvP, this weapon is not nearly as good. 900 RPM SMGs are just not that consistent. And with the current Aggressive Frame meta in full swing, you will be better off going with The Immortal or the IKELOS_SMG_v1.0.3.
Best alternatives:
Borrowed Time | Submachine Gun | Primary | Solar | Playlist: Gambit | |
Tarrabah | Submachine Gun | Primary | Solar | Exotic Kiosk |
CALUS Mini-Tool God Rolls and Perk Pool
The CALUS Mini-Tool SMG can roll with the following perks:
- Perk 1: Unrelenting, Slideways, Threat Detector, Air Assault, Moving Target, Grave Robber
- Perk 2: Disruption Break, Surrounded, Feeding Frenzy, Eye of the Storm, Tap the Trigger, Incandescent
- Origin Trait: To Excess
CALUS Mini-Tool PvE god roll
- Barrel: Hammer-Forged Rifling
- Magazine: Accurized Rounds
- Perk 1: Unrelenting or Threat Detector
- Perk 2: Incandescent
- Masterwork: Range or Handling
PvE is where this gun shines brighter than the sun. Hammer-Forged Rifling and Accurized Rounds are the safe play. However, you can also use Tactical Mag or Appended Mag.
The perks will depend on what kind of playstyle your build has. The first perk can be either Unrelenting (if you lack health regeneration) or Grave Robber (if your build focuses on melee). If none work for you, a good all-around perk is Threat Detector. The best perk on the second slot is, hands down, Incandescent. With its ability to spread Scorch, the gun becomes a literal flamethrower. But since this perk can be hard to get, Feeding Frenzy is a decent alternative.
CALUS Mini-Tool PvP god roll
- Barrel: Hammer-Forged Rifling or Smallbore
- Magazine: Accurized Rounds
- Perk 1: Moving Target
- Perk 2: Tap the Trigger
- Masterwork: Range or Handling
As we mentioned, this weapon is not the best for PvP. But if you still want to use it, go for Moving Target with Tap the Trigger. Both will give you a better feel and control of the gun. For the barrel, choose between Hammer-Forged Rifling or Smallbore. Depending on whether you need that extra stability from Smallbore. And the best magazine choice for PvP is almost always Accurized Rounds for extra range.
Before you go
The CALUS Mini-Tool is absolutely worth farming, especially if you enjoy Solar builds. If you are looking for other powerful PvE weapons, check out these Riptide God Rolls or Scatter Signal God Rolls.
The Calus Mini-Tool can be farmed from the Legend mission Presage. It’s red-bordered, so craftable after 5 drops.
Indeed, this guide deserved an update, including its addition to the Presage loot table. It has been updated 👍
There is a typo here you said PVP god rolls twice
Yes there, is. Thank you for the heads up, it has been corrected.
