Destiny 2 Festival of the Lost 2023: Schedule & Rewards

by | Oct 17, 2023

Destiny 2’s Festival of the Lost event is upon us, and it will feature exclusive gear, a new game mode, and improvements to its core mechanics and rewards. But the best part about Festival of the Lost is that it actually features an exclusive activity to play (unlike other events that just ask you to wear a themed class item and do something else).

This guide will cover everything you need to know about Festival of the Lost, including its schedule, activities, rewards, and more!

When is Festival of the Lost 2023 starting?

Festival of the Lost 2023 starts next Tuesday, October 17, 2023, and will be available to all players for free until November 7, 2023.

  • Festival of the Lost starts on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at 9 AM PDT
  • Festival of the Lost ends on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at 9 AM PDT

How long does it last?

The Festival of the Lost lasts for three weeks and occurs once per year.

What is Festival of the Lost

Festival of the Lost is a yearly event that is open to all players. Taking place in October, it obviously features a strong Halloween theme. More importantly, FotL comes with an exclusive activity that is about to get better this year: Haunted Lost Sectors.

Festival of the Lost is a continuously evolving event. It first appeared many years ago and used to feature an activity called the Haunted Forest. A few years later, the Haunted Forest was replaced with Haunted Lost Sectors. This year, Haunted Lost Sectors continue to be the event’s main activity, except Bungie is now adding Legend Haunted Lost Sectors too.

How to enter Festival of the Lost 2023

To enter the Festival of the Lost event, you simply need to visit Eva Levante, the main host for the event, at the Tower. She will provide you with a quest and, eventually, your Mask, which will play a central role throughout the event. If you’re new, don’t worry, FotL is a straightforward event, and Eva’s quest does a good job explaining the different mechanics.

Festival of the Lost Rewards: 2023 Edition

Let’s be honest, most of us play these events not because we like the activity but because we want to grab all the loot before the event is over. FotL is not any different, but on the flip side, it has even more loot to offer this time around. On top of offering themed armor sets, it features a brand-new weapon and Eerie Engrams.

Armor sets

The most sought-after Festival of the Lost rewards are usually the armor sets:

Exclusive weapons

FotL also features several exclusive weapons, including the brand-new Acosmic GSp grenade launcher. All weapons feature a unique FotL Origin Trait. This year, the event will feature the following FotL weapons:

  • Heavy Acosmic Grenade Launcher
  • Primary Horror Story Auto Rifle
  • Energy Jurassic Green Pulse Rifle
  • Energy Mechabre Sniper Rifle

Speaking of weapons, FotL will also feature a unique Memento that can randomly drop in the form of an Eerie Engram.

Eerie Engrams

As revealed on Bungie’s latest TWID:

Eerie Engrams have two uses. Players can crack them open individually for some treats, or use them as currencies for Hocus Focusing (which we will get into below).

Eerie Engrams have a chance to drop upon completion of Haunted Sectors. Legend Haunted Sectors will have a higher chance of dropping Eerie Engrams.

These themed engrams will offer players opportunities to acquire Exotic armor with four focusing categories in addition to the Legendary Weapons Eerie Engram focusing. You can read all about it here.

When does Festival of the Lost end?

Festival of the Lost is a three-week event. It will end on November 7, 2023, and won’t return until November 2024.

You say it lasts for three weeks in the post, but list a date range that is only two weeks.
