Destiny 2 Acosmic GSp: God Rolls and How to get it

by | Oct 14, 2023

Festival of the lost is upon us and with Spooky Month comes a spooky grenade launcher; Acosmic GSp. Heavy grenade launchers ebb and flow into and out of the meta. In some seasons they are great for add-clearing, in other seasons they’re perfect for boss damage, then other seasons they are vaulted for swords, machine guns, or rockets.

No one will bat an eye if you use a heavy grenade launcher depending on meta shifts. They are reliable, have good ammo economy, and are downright fun. But does the Acosmic GSp hold a candle to other grenade launchers in its class?

How to get the Acosmic GSp this Season

Like all Festival of the Lost weapons you will have to earn some candy, complete haunted lost sectors, and hope you get them as rewards for completion. Thankfully the loot pool was reduced this year, dropping the Braytech Werewolf for the new GSp.

New this year is the introduction of Eerie Engrams. These can be decrypted directly at Rahool for a chance to earn any Festival of the Lost goodies. Or you can focus them at Eva Levante with 500 candy for a randomized weapon or 1000 candy for a focused weapon. You can also focus one Eerie Engram with 2500 candy for an exotic helmet, arms, chest, or legs.

How good is Acosmic GSp

Acosmic GSp is a void rapid-fire frame grenade launcher. This means you will have better reload when empty due to the frame, and a higher DPS value over adaptive frame grenade launchers due to the faster RPM.

Acosmic GSp has two competitors (three if you’re a hoarder). Swarm of the Raven from Iron Banner, introduced in Season 4 (for all you filthy hoarders); Berenger’s Memory from Exodus Focused Umbral Engrams, introduced in Season 11; and the re-introduction of Swarm of the Raven still from Iron Banner, brought back to us in Season 21.

In base stats, the Acosmic GSp is incredibly stacked. It has the best stats across all values except for stability where it loses by -1 point, and a slightly worse recoil direction of 64 to 70 to Berenger’s Memory. Acosmic GSp absolutely destroys Swarm of the Raven in every category.

Across all rapid-fire grenade launchers, Acosmic GSp is comparable to Koraxis’s Distress from Vow of the Disciple. Where Koraxis’s Distress is able to flex its prowess is in Adept mods.

What this means is that Acosmic GSp is the best non-adept legendary rapid-fire frame grenade launcher. (Say that 5 times fast.)

For PvE, this is an A Tier weapon (an S tier for Void mains). For PvP, it’s B Tier, average, and that’s about it.

Best Acosmic GSp Rolls for PvE and PvP

Acosmic GSp PvE god roll

  • Barrel: Quick Launch, Linear Compensator, Smart Drift Control
  • Magazine: Spike Grenades
  • Perk 1: Loose Change, Clown Cartridge, Field Prep
  • Perk 2: Destabilizing Rounds, Explosive Light
  • Masterwork: Blast Radius

Void mains are getting all the sweets this year. Acosmic GSp has one trick that sets it way above the rest. Loose Change coupled with Destabilizing Rounds will be incredible as your main room-clearing weapon. Loose Change is an underwhelming perk on its own, as you’d have to rely on your abilities to activate the perk, and on certain subclasses, it can be difficult to maintain debuffs on wave after wave of enemies. The trick is Destabilizing Rounds that will automatically apply Volatile to your enemies, potentially explode the Volatile, and activate Loose Change for an extra 50 reload speed.

If you’re going to use this in conjunction with a void subclass, you will be able to dedicate the rest of your loadout to either distance weapons, major / boss killers, or champion stun weapons. It opens up a plethora of options in your loadout, a real bag of treats.

Acosmic GSp PvP god roll

  • Barrel: Quick Launch, Linear Compensator, Smart Drift Control
  • Magazine: Proximity Grenades
  • Perk 1: Impulse Amplifier, Enlightened Action, Quickdraw
  • Perk 2: Explosive Light, Collective Action, Wellspring
  • Masterwork: Velocity

Will Acosmic GSp be viable in PvP? As with Destiny, anything is viable. But is it good? Well if you like having a faster more linear grenade, and are precise with your grenade launcher shots. I’d say it’s perfect. If you’re used to adaptive frame’s forgiveness in blast radius, you might have a frightening time.

In order to get the best harvest, you’ll want to optimize handling, velocity, and damage. The easiest way is through Impulse Amplifier and Explosive Light. With all the orb generation tools at our disposal, you can easily bypass the lower blast radius, giving you the option to spec entirely into velocity for a very fast grenade. If you find yourself spawning a lot of stasis shards, or elemental pickups you can make use of Collective Action’s extra damage. It might not be enough to destroy all supers but you will be able to take on most supers with more confidence than a skeleton in the wind.

Acosmic GSp: Is it worth farming?

All three of the existing void rapid-fire frame grenade launchers have the same base blast radius, zoom, magazine, and inventory. However, it is interesting that Acosmic GSp has three times the airborne effectiveness of the other two at 18 (versus 6). Will that make a difference in-game? Only if you’re a bat and like to strike from the shadows. Otherwise, no. It won’t make a lick of difference. The other stats that will feel great are the bonuses in base velocity, handling, and reload speed.

If you use Void subclasses in PvE, the Acosmic GSp will be an incredible addition to your arsenal. I would highly recommend it. For non-Void subclass mains, it will be nice to keep in the event you ~~convert to the best subclass~~ need to use void. For general PvE it will not nuke bosses like you’re used to, it is definitely best used to clear rooms like nothing else. If your intended uses are for the crucible there are far better options.
