When the Exotic Mission rotator was released, it was met with mixed feedback. While the missions it included were nice to have, it lacked two vital additions: The Whisper and Zero Hour.
But with Into the Light, they both finally returned. Today, we’ll cover the latter, which immediately cemented itself as one of the best pieces of content to ever enter Destiny 2. Not only was the mission enjoyable to run, but it also delivered the iconic Outbreak Perfected exotic pulse rifle.
Zero Hour Rotation?
Unlike most other Exotic Missions that are part of the Exotic Missions Rotator, Zero Hour (and The Whisper) can be accessed at all times via the Legends tab.
Art | Exotic Mission | Location | Power Level | Rewards | Requires |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Zero Hour | Into The Light Tab | 1810 | Loot Table | Free-to-Play |
Whispers of the Past Quest
But to access the Zero Hour mission for the first time, you’ll need to complete the Asset Protection quest. This is an easy and straightforward questline that can be grabbed from Ada-1, located in the Tower’s Annex.
Zero Hour Loot Table & Rewards
Completing the Zero Hour mission for the first time will reward you with the coveted Outbreak Perfected (Pulse rifle), along with its crafting pattern to go with it. Now craftable, this Exotic Pulse is more powerful than ever, making its a beast in PvE. We cover the most sought-after Outbreak Perfected God Rolls here.
Name: Outbreak Perfected | Type: Pulse RifleArchetype: Exotic | Ammo: PrimaryElement: Kinetic | Craftable: YesReleased: Season 6 | Source: Zero HourRequires: Free-to-Play |
Weekly subsequent completions of Zero Hour will offer upgrades to the now craftable Outbreak Perfected. Zero Hour’s Legend difficulty also offers Outbreak Perfected’s catalyst, which adds the Disease Vector perk.
Catalyst and Intrinsic Upgrades
While no details regarding the weapon’s catalyst have been shared, we can safely assume Zero Hour to have the same reward structure as the other Exotic Missions on rotation:
- The first completion of the mission on Normal or Legendary difficulty will award the Exotic Deepsight weapon associated with the mission.
- Each completion of the Normal or Legendary version of the Exotic mission will award an intrinsic upgrade that can be used when crafting the Exotic weapon.
- Each completion of the Legendary version of the Exotic mission will award a Catalyst upgrade for the crafted Exotic weapon.
Note that Exotic Missions feature two difficulties, Normal and Legendary, and each will have separate weekly reward lockouts.
An Exclusive Exotic Ship
Vaulted Obstacles, once completed, will grant you the new and improved Scrap CF-717-91, now called the Vimana Junker. The Vault Puzzles can be completed on any difficulty and don’t require full completion to obtain the rewards. More on that below.
Completing a week’s puzzle will also net you an upgrade to The Corruption Spreads, allowing you to slot new barrels, magazines, and stocks for Outbreak Perfected.
NOTE: Anyone on the fireteam can complete the puzzle at any time. Players do not need to be in the same room when the puzzle is finished to get rewards. You will need Outbreak Perfected to do the first half of the puzzle.
Zero Hour Sequence Pads and Vault Puzzle Solutions
Week 1
To begin the puzzle, fight your way through the first group of Fallen until you reach the Old Courtyard. Clear the area, and then look above where you entered from to see a small console with a SIVA symbol on it.
Activate it, and you’ll have a 45-second timer to shoot 3 diamond pads in the right sequence. This pattern changes each run, so be sure to check the console each time you start it for the right sequence. Each time you shoot a pad, the symbol will change, so run back to check which is the next in the sequence. Or you can just do the process of elimination as you won’t be locked out if you fail it.

Kiosk Pad
Edge Pad
If done right, a pop-up will appear in the lower left corner with the message “Sequence Accepted”. Upon seeing this, proceed with the mission as normal until you reach the Vault.
Now at the Vault, you’ll see an open room on your left with some panels, as well as a few scattered around the main room. You should also see a large monitor with a map of the Vault and a code sequence to the right. This is your key for the puzzle and is very simple to understand.
The geometric shape above the arrows shows the orientation for the panels within the shape, and the arrows are for the position and order of activation. Filled arrows are for the panels in the main Vault room, and the blank arrows are for the panels within the side room.
For Week 1, we will be using the Square code. Activate the panels in the order shown below if you don’t want to figure it out on your own.
After activating the last panel, you’ll receive both a Vimana Junker Schematic part and The Corruption Spreads II, which allows you to choose your barrel on Outbreak Perfected.
If activating the panels stays the same for the next two weeks, then all you’ll have to do differently for Week 2 and Week 3 is the Vault code. Week 2 should be the diamond, and Week 3 should be the trapezoid. Using the same methodology as before (blank arrows are in room, filled are outside), the code should be very easy to decipher.
Before you go…
Don’t forget to check out Presage or The Whisper, two excellent Exotic Missions on rotation.
