Stormcaller is one of the four Warlock subclasses available in Destiny 2. As of Season of the Wish (S23), Stormcaller may be a somewhat average subclass, but it still has a lot to offer.
This guide covers the best Stormcaller Warlock builds, Fragments, and Exotics that make the Stormcaller subclass unique in its own way.

Best Stormcaller Fragments & Exotics

5. Stormcaller (Arc 3.0)
- Ranking: ❘ B Average
Stormcaller is extremely fun and, thanks to recent buffs, feels more powerful than ever before.
After numerous buffs directed at Arc Souls in PVE, they finally feel potent enough to use in mid-level content. Pair this with Fallen Sunstar or Crown of Tempests for ability energy and Amplified for a quick fire rate, and you’ll have a second set of bullets firing at enemies 24/7.
The main downside of Stormcaller are the Supers. While fun, both Stormtrance and Chaos Reach don’t provide enough damage to be considered useful in most scenarios.
On top of all this, Vesper of Radius got a considerable buff a couple of seasons ago that made it S-Tier for all things PvE. Now able to blind an entire room full of enemies with ease, this exotic rivals classic favorites like Crown of Tempests, Fallen Sunstar, and Getaway Artist. All in all, Arc Warlock is entertaining to use, and Arc 3.0 did a lot for it.
Preferred Exotic: Getaway Artist is the most fun pick, while Crown of Tempests and Fallen Sunstar tend to be the most useful. Vesper of Radius is a nice balance between the two but requires a decent build to be usable in high-difficulty content.
| Armor | Class | Type | Requirements | Source | Released | Requires | Exotic Perk |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
![]() Crown of Tempests | Warlock | Helm | Free-to-Play | Exotic Engrams | Season 1 | Free-to-Play | Arc ability kills increase the recharge rate of your Arc abilities and extend the duration of Stormtrance. |
![]() Fallen Sunstar | Warlock | Helm | The Witch Queen | Lost Sectors | Season 18 | The Witch Queen | Ionic traces you create move faster and grant you additional ability energy. Nearby allies also gain ability energy when you collect an ionic trace. |
![]() Getaway Artist | Warlock | Arms | Forsaken Pack | Exotic Engrams | Season 6 | Forsaken Pack | Convert your Arc Grenade into a supercharged Arc Soul. The Arc Soul functions as an autonomous turret. |
![]() Vesper of Radius | Warlock | Chest | Free-to-Play | Exotic Engrams | Season 2 | Free-to-Play | Rifts periodically release Arc shockwaves. Final blows with these shockwaves create an Arc explosion. While an Arc subclass is equipped, the shockwaves and subsequent explosions blind nearby targets. Rift energy recharges faster when you are surrounded by targets. |
Preferred Aspects and Fragments:
- Aspects: Even though Lightning Surge is great fun, Electrostatic Mind, and Arc Soul beat it out in terms of utility.
- Fragments: Spark of Shock, Spark of Ions, Spark of Magnitude, Spark of Discharge.
Preferred Abilities and Stats:
- Stats: Recovery, Resilience, Discipline.
- Abilities: Because both Supers provide about the same amount of damage output, your choice here depends on your playstyle or the build you’re running. As for grenades, Storm or Pulse are the two top picks.
Stormcaller Warlock builds for PvE
These are some of the best Destiny 2 Stormcaller builds right now, you can find more excellent Warlock builds here:

- Abilities: Chaos Reach, Ball Lightning, Storm Grenade, and Healing Rift.
- Stats: Weapons → Super → Grenade.

- Arms: Impact Induction, Momentum Transfer.
- Chest: Relevant ammo generation/resist mods.
- Legs: Elemental Charge, Arc Weapon Surge, Arc Scavenger (if applicable).
- Class Item: Time Dilation, Bomber, Powerful Attraction.
Gameplay Loop
There’s no specific “loop” to this build; simply use your Arc weapon to kill waves of enemies, generating both Bolt Charge and your abilities.
Utilizing Ionic Sentry when it’s charged is especially important since it grants so much Bolt Charge and can regenerate rather quickly. If you’re ever near max Bolt Charge, remember that you can also sprint around to top it off with Geomag Stabilizers.
Our last bit of advice here is to use your Super liberally. Because it lasts longer with Geomag Stabilizers and can be canceled early, you’re likely to have some charge stored up even immediately after using it. The remaining charge is easily gained from Ionic Traces and kills with generic weapons and abilities, allowing you to recharge your Super in mere seconds.
Arc Sunstar
Excels In: Casual & Endgame (Dungeons, Raids, Legend content)
Goal of the Build: Consistently have turrets assisting you and allies on the battlefield, allowing for great ad clear and slightly more boss DPS.
Mandatory Gear: Fallen Sunstar. Coldheart is recommended, but Delicate Tomb can also work.
![]() Name: Fallen Sunstar | Class: WarlockSlot: Helm | Source: Lost SectorsRequires: The Witch Queen | Exotic Perk: Ionic traces you create move faster and grant you additional ability energy. Nearby allies also gain ability energy when you collect an ionic trace. |

- Aspects: Arc Soul and Electrostatic Mind.
- Fragments: Spark of Magnitude, Spark of Shock, Spark of Beacons, and Spark of Brilliance.
- Abilities: Storm Grenade, Chaos Reach, Ball Lightning, and Healing Rift.
- Stats: Recovery 🡒 Resilience 🡒 Discipline.
- Mods:
- Helmet: Harmonic Siphon, Ashes to Assets
- Arms: Firepower, Bolstering Detonation
- Chest: Charged Up
- Legs: Elemental Charge, Arc Weapon Surge, Innervation
- Class Item: Time Dilation, Bomber, Powerful Attraction
Gameplay Loop
Start by placing a rift down to grant you and your allies Arc Souls. Then, simply use the rest of your abilities and shoot everything in sight with your Arc weapon. Any Ionic Traces you collect will grant you and your allies substantial amounts of ability energy and will make you Amplified (buffing your Arc Soul and other abilities).
With that being the only information you need to succeed, this build is simple yet effective. While it may not be the greatest in high-difficulty PVE content (or in anything with a high-health boss), it’s one of our favorite builds to run and has become a community favorite as a result of Arc Soul’s recent buffs.
Stormcaller Subclass in PvP (Arc 3.0)
Stormcaller (Arc 3.0)
- Ranking: ❘ A Strong
Regarding PVP, Stormcaller got treated relatively nicely in the Arc 3.0 updates of Season of the Plunder. With extra firepower through Arc Soul to being able to close the gap with Lightning Surge, Stormcaller provides loads of abilities that fit the “space magic” idea perfectly.
Stormcaller’s grenades and melees are top-tier, ranging from Storm Grenade’s substantial damage to Ball Lightning’s range. Plus, while they aren’t the best Supers in the game, both Stormtrance and Chaos Reach can prove helpful in various situations.
In some ways, Stormcaller almost feels underrated in PVP. Arc subclasses have always gotten a bad rep in the community, but Stormcaller isn’t anything to scoff at—its unique and powerful abilities prove to be extremely useful in the Crucible.
Preferred Exotic: Getaway Artist enhances the powerful effects of Arc Soul even more and is usually the go-to pick for an Arc-based exotic.
| Armor | Class | Type | Requirements | Source | Released | Requires | Exotic Perk |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
![]() Getaway Artist | Warlock | Arms | Forsaken Pack | Exotic Engrams | Season 6 | Forsaken Pack | Convert your Arc Grenade into a supercharged Arc Soul. The Arc Soul functions as an autonomous turret. |
Preferred Aspects and Fragments:
- Aspects: Arc Soul and Lightning Surge are easily the two top options for Stormcaller in PVP.
- Fragments: Spark of Magnitude, Spark of Feedback, Spark of Focus.
Preferred Abilities and Stats:
- Stats: Recovery, Discipline.
- Abilities: Both Chaos Reach and Stormtrance are excellent in particular scenarios, so use whatever you’re more comfortable with. Storm, Lightning, and Arcbolt Grenades tend to be used most often, but most Arc Grenades tend to be good. Lastly, we prefer Ball Lightning over Chain Lightning, but once again, there isn’t a clear winner.
