Introduced a long time ago with Season of the Forge (S12), Black Armory weapons were absolute fan favorites. Hammerhead, Blast Furnace, Kindled Orchid, they were all at the top of the meta.
In spite of their popularity, Black Armory weapons were victims of the Destiny Content Vault and immediately became irrelevant. Until April 9, 2024 (most likely).
Is Into the Light Bringing back all Black Armory weapons?
At this stage, these are merely rymors, but the evidence suggests that Destiny 2’s next content update, Into the Light, will re-release several weapons that were sunset, including Hammerhead, The Recluse, Blast Furnace, and more.
Black Armory Weapons
First of all, the latest API update revealed the re-release of an ornament for the Hammerhead machine gun. Why would Bungie bring back an ornament for a sunset weapon? This can only mean that the Hammerhead is set to return.
As part of the Black Armory release, it is unlikely that Bungie would only bring back the Hammerhead. As they’ve done with all returning weapons (such as the IKELOS or Opulent weapons), they always bring back most of it, not all, relevant weapons. In fact, Into the Light’s Promo image appears to feature a Warlock wielding the Blast Furnace pulse rifle.

Hammerhead

For a long time, the Hammerhead was THE most popular Heavy weapon in the Crucible. This was because of its insane range and power. A Hammerhead felt like a laser and could dispose of opponents across the map with ease. It also helped that it had enough ammo in PVP to easily kill two or three opponents.
Sunset god rolls:
- Barrel: Hammer-Forged Rifling for M&K users or Arrowhead Brake for controller users
- Magazine: Ricochet Rounds for PVP, Extended Mag for PVE
- Perk 1: Dynamic Sway Reduction or Quickdraw for PVP, Feeding Frenzy for PVE
- Perk 2: Rampage
Blast Furnace

An all-time favorite, the Blast Furnace is an aggressive 4-burst Pulse rifle known for its raw power. In PVE, it can quickly dispose of enemies because of its many damage-based god rolls, while in PVP it causes a lot of flinch and a fast TTK.
Sunset god rolls:
- Scope: Depends on how much zoom you prefer
- Magazine: Accurized Rounds for PVP, Tactical Mag or Appended Mag for PVE
- Perk 1: Dynamic Sway Reduction or Quickdraw for PVP, Feeding Frenzy for PVE
- Perk 2: Kill Clip or Rampage
Kindled Orchid

The Kindled Orchid was another fan-favorite that can excel in both PVP and PVE. In PVE, it’s the only weapon that can roll with Kill Clip and Rampage, making it a beast at killing minors. In PVP, it can hold its own, but it’s hard to compete with the excellent Spare Rations hand cannon from the Reckoning.

- Magazine: Accurized Rounds for PVP, Tactical Mag or Appended Mag for PVE
