The next chapter in Destiny 2 is not a new Season but Into the Light, a free-to-play content update released on April 9, 2024. Into the Light features tons of new (and top-tier) weapons, returning Exotic missions, but more importantly, the first ever Horde mode to come to Destiny 2.
What is Onslaught?
Onslaught is Destiny 2’s new PvE wave-based defense activity. Your mission is to defend your Advanced Defense Unit (ADU) from attacking enemy waves. If your ADU is destroyed, the match will be over.
Defeating enemies will allow you to collect Scraps, which you can use to purchase and upgrade your defenses. These defensive units, such as trip mines, decoys, and turrets, will be placed around the defending area and auto-attack or take damage from incoming enemy waves.

D2 Onslaught Rules
Onslaught is absolutely hectic, and it’s easy to feel lost the first 2-3 times you enter a match. However, the rules and objectives are straightforward:
Defend and repair the ADU against waves of Combatants. The Onslaught: Playlist features 10 combatant waves while “Onslaught”features 50 combatant waves.
ADU: If the ADU is destroyed, the activity ends.
Scraps: An in-activity currency. They are earned by scoring and used to purchase and upgrade defenses at the start of every set and after waves 3 and 6.
Rewards: Paid out after every set upon defeating the boss wave. Subsequent sets pay out better rewards. Legend increases rewards.
Bonus Objectives: Rewards resources, vendor reputation, and armaments.
Recommended Power for Normal difficulty is 1600 and 1810 for Legend difficulty.
