The introduction of old Destiny 1 exotics into Destiny 2 is always nostalgic, but none can compare to that of Khvostov 7G. Being the first weapon every Guardian acquires in both games, this auto rifle has a special place in the hearts of many players.
Finally, Bungie has provided more details about its upcoming exotic version, slated for The Final Shape. This article covers everything there is to know about Khvostov 7G-0X’s return.
Khvostov 7G: From Trash to Treasure
Khvostov 7G-02 is the common auto rifle every Guardian receives as their first weapon in both Destiny 1 and 2. Because its purpose is simply to be a tutorial weapon—and its common rarity—there isn’t anything too memorable about it.
However, with Destiny 1’s Rise of Iron DLC, a new version of Khvostov was released: the Khvostov 7G-0X exotic variant. The weapon itself was a bit of a mixed bag. Instead of having a unique trait as all other exotics do, the Khvostov 7G-0X featured an absurd amount of perks and modifications.
Khvostov’s Return: Confirmed
During Destiny 2’s 2023 Showcase Livestream, Bungie confirmed that the exotic variant of Khvostov would make a return with The Final Shape. And now, close to a year later, a quick preview trailer has dropped:
Return to your first days in the Cosmodrome.
With a shot that ricochets every 7th round, the Khvostov 7G-0X returns as a new exotic weapon with The Final Shape.

A new Exotic Trait
Bungie decided to ditch the perks and modifications from D1 and opted for an entirely new Exotic trait:
The other perks and traits, as well as the weapon’s stats, remain unknown. However, based on its main Exotic trait, expect the Khvostov 7G-0X to be focused on ad-clear.

Bungie has revealed several other Exotics to be released with The Final Shape. We will be covering them soon.
