Destiny 2 Reconstruction: Weapons and Perk guide

Reconstruction is a perk that has been around for some years now. Originally introduced with the Deep Stone Crypt, it has become a popular choice among players due to its dual ability to not only automatically reload your weapon when it isn’t firing, but also overflowing the magazine to greater than its typical capacity. These days, Reconstruction can be found on more weapons, including those that drop within the Root of Nightmares raid.

In this guide, we will go over the exact properties of the perk, which weapons can get it, and what synergizes well with it.

Reconstruction can drop on a variety of weapons in all three weapon slots, proving to be useful in numerous scenarios. All in all, Reconstruction can be easily called an S-Tier perk.

What does Reconstruction do: Hard Figures

Starting with the perk description, here is what Reconstruction does:

This weapon slowly reloads itself over time, up to double capacity.

Let’s dive into the details that the perk description doesn’t reveal (based on community-gathered information):

• When the weapon is not firing, 10% of the magazine is refilled from reserves every 4 seconds.
• The magazine can be auto-loaded up to double its typical capacity.

Since many of the weapons that roll with Reconstruction are craftable, there is also an enhanced version of the trait. The enhanced trait differs in that it reduces the time between refills from 4 seconds to just 3.5 seconds.

Thanks to Bungie’s recent update to Deep Stone Crypt’s loot pool, all of the weapons listed above are craftable and can feature the enhanced version of Reconstruction.

How to use Reconstruction and what synergizes with it?

In order to activate the auto-reloading perk, players simply must not fire the weapon. Within 4 seconds, the magazine will begin to reload from reserves on its own. If you’re patient, you’ll be able to load your weapon to twice its usual capacity.

On an Auto Rifle like Rufus’s Fury, this perk can be highly effective in mob clearing as you will find you can hold the trigger down for an eternity without the need to reload thanks to the extra rounds in the magazine. As this Season features an Anti-Barrier mod for Auto Rifles, doubling your magazine and auto-reloading will ensure you have enough bullets in the clip to take down those pesky Barrier champion shields. Rufus’s Fury is currently my personal favorite weapon to use with Reconstruction.

The perk also pairs incredibly well with heavy weapons such as the Commemoration machine gun. Doubling your magazine size will ensure you can maximize your DPS when it comes to boss encounters, and the auto-reloading allows you to switch to another high-damage secondary weapon while Reconstruction does its magic. Reconstruction even provides some great utility within the Crucible. When roaming with a secondary weapon equipped, such as Heritage, you can simply walk over a Special ammo brick for it to be auto-loaded before your next encounter with an opposing guardian.
