Destiny 2 A Distant Pull: God Rolls and How to get it

by | May 30, 2023

A Distant Pull is a brand-new Sniper that features the same Taken-inspired look as the other Deep weapons this season. Apart from its beautiful scope that reminds the Whisper of the Worm, this gun also has a decent range of perks to make it worth picking up for burst damage in PvE.

We’ll cover how to get and farm A Distant Pull this season and go over our recommended god rolls for PvP and PvE

How to get A Distant Pull this season

Much like any seasonal weapon introduced in Season 21, you can get A Distant Pull from Deep Engrams and as a reward when completing Season of the Deep activities. Deep engrams drop from almost any activity, including core playlists, Salvage, and Deep Dive.

Once you get the weapon for the first time, you can focus your Deep Engrams to get that weapon. It’s not overly expensive, and we recommend doing it if you are after one weapon specifically.

Deep Weapon Focusing can be unlocked through a seasonal challenge. To complete it, you need to obtain six different seasonal weapons. The cost of focusing is now also cheaper compared to previous seasons. To focus your Deep Engrams, head to the Sonar Station at the H.E.L.M. and bring along the following:

  • 2 Deep Engram (4 for a specific weapon)
  • 3,000 Glimmer

After that, aim to get 5 Deepsights to unlock the pattern for the gun. All of the perks have enhanced versions and will be better than the regular ones.

How good is A Distant Pull

140 RPM sniper rifles are in a weird spot right now. They clearly can’t compete in PvP due to their lower base damage and zoom levels. This is especially true when facing Scout and Pulse rifles with good range (the only exception is Cloudstrike, which can dominate a lobby thanks to its exotic perk).

For PvE, A Distant Pull is a decent choice thanks to its quick burst damage and overall DPS. With 140 RPM Snipers, you get more ammo reserves and quicker reloads. Plus, A Distant Pull can roll with a few perks to make your reserves even deeper, which makes it quite good for boss fights. It is worth mentioning, though, that other 140 RPM sniper rifles can be good alternatives. The IKELOS_SR_V1.0.3 is excellent and can roll Incandescent if you want that on a sniper (it’s also craftable). Father’s Sins and Irukandji have similar perks and can fill your kinetic/energy slot, depending on your needs.

Best A Distant Pull Rolls for PvE and PvP

Let’s review the best perk combinations you can get for PvE and PvP.

A Distant Pull PvE god roll

  • Barrel: Corkscrew Rifling
  • Magazine: Extended Mag or Tactical Mag
  • Perk 1: Triple Tap or Overflow
  • Perk 2: Explosive Payload
  • Masterwork: Range or Handling

For our PvE go roll, we want to maximize the total DPS of this weapon to help when dealing with Bosses. Corkscrew Rifling can help with extra Stability, Handling, and Range. For the Magazine, you want literally any Magazine that increases Ammo capacity. For the perks, Rapid Hit will maximize your Reload speed and help with that total DPS, while Focused Fury or Explosive Payload will provide the extra damage.

If you want to use this weapon for more casual content, A Distant Pull can also roll Headstone, which is more suitable for a sniper rifle on easier content.

A Distant Pull PvP god roll

  • Barrel: Hammer-Forged Rifling
  • Magazine: Accurized Rounds
  • Perk 1: Keep Away
  • Perk 2: Opening Shot
  • Masterwork: Range or Handling

As mentioned before, we don’t really recommend this weapon in PvP. But if you truly want to punish yourself, there are a few good perks to give you an edge. And perhaps avoid Shaxx’s yelling…

Hammer-Forged Rifling and Accurized Rounds will give you extra range to keep you as safe from mid-range gunfights. For perks, we recommend Moving Target (the only decent PvP perk) paired with the Opening Shot.

This is a decent all-around combination. However, you can also go for Explosive Payload or Killing Wind if you are feeling confident.

A Distant Pull: Is it worth farming?

A Distant Pull is a good all-around PvE weapon. It’s not a must-farm but keep an eye out for decent rolls as you farm for other Taken weapons. If you do get a good one, make good use of it in PvE.

In the meantime, if you want other powerful alternatives for PvE, we recommend checking out the Targeted Redaction. Also, you can find all of our God roll library here.
