Destiny 2 Deep Weapons: How to get “Taken” weapons

by | May 23, 2023

On top of delivering Titan, a returning Destination, Season of the Deep also feature several brand-new weapons that are making a lot of noise. Referred by many as Taken weapons, some of these definitely have the potential to become top-tier, and you should definitely farm them before they go.

This guide covers all the weapons from Season of the Deep (S21) activities (Salvage or Deep Dives) and tells you how to best farm them.

The best Deep weapons in Destiny 2

The list below includes every Deep weapon in the game (it’s still a little too early to rank them, but we’ll update this section as we land diverse rolls to play around with):

Deep weapons God rolls

It’s not always easy to figure out which weapons are worth farming at the start of a Season. And even for those weapons that rise to the top of the meta, what rolls should we look for?

We hear you and tackling Deep weapons one by one and tell you whether they’re worth it and respective god rolls:

Destiny 2 Deep “Taken” weapons farm: Where to find them

Unlike past Seasons that were plagued with confusing currencies and gameplay loops, Season of the Deep features the same streamlined system introduced with Season of Defiance. This system comes with fewer currencies and items to deal with and is, hands down, much simpler to understand. In a nutshell, there are mainly three methods to acquire Deep weapons:

  • Completing seasonal activities: Salvage or Deep Dive
  • Decoding Deep engrams at the Station at the H.E.L.M.
  • Increasing your Sonar Station Reputation

If you’re specifically looking for the returning Reckoning weapons, you cover how to use Focused Fishing to them here.

Seasonal activities

Season 21’s gameplay loop is as straightforward as it gets. There are no intermediate currencies to farm nor steps to complete. You can simply head to the Deep activities playlist and start farming completions. And that’s it! You don’t need to farm Umbral energy or anything like that.

Pro tip: Having a Salvage Key will reward you with more seasonal loot, including Deep weapons, when completing Season of the Deep activities.

Deep engrams

Completing Deep activities when possessing a Salvage Key will reward you with Deep Engrams. These can be taken to the Sonar Station at the H.E.L.M. and focused into Deep weapons or Armor.

The cost to focus Deep engrams has been greatly reduced compared to previous seasons. You’ll simply require the following:

  • 2 Deep Engram (or 4 if you want a specific weapon)
  • 3,000 Glimmer
