Another weekly reset means another Destiny 2 Grandmaster Nightfall available to farm. This time around, it’s HyperNet Current. Being one of Destiny 2’s newer strikes, HyperNet Current is relatively difficult (and complex) compared to other options in the rotation.
Today, we’ll cover everything you’ll need to know to succeed in this Grandmaster Nightfall. From what loadouts and builds to run to strategies for each major room in the activity, you’ll be an expert in all things HyperNet Current by the end of this article. Let’s begin.
Updated as of Season of the Wish (S23).
HyperNet Current GM: Loadouts & Subclasses
As is standard with our Grandmaster Nightfall guides, our coverage begins before you even launch the activity. Let’s take a look at the loadout and subclass options that will best help you conquer HyperNet Current.
Subclasses and Exotics
Compared to most other Grandmaster Nightfalls, this one grants a surprising amount of freedom when it comes to optimal builds.
Generally speaking, the usual top picks will continue to dominate here: Well of Radiance or Cenotaph Mask Warlocks, Banner of War Titans, and Omnioculus or Strand Hunters. However, experimenting with other subclasses and Exotics is welcome here; with the exception of the boss room, the majority of areas in this strike are open enough to accommodate any playstyle you choose.
As we mentioned before, Cenotaph Mask is the way to go Exotic-wise on Warlock. For Hunters and Titans, things are a bit less clear. Omnioculus and Synthoceps are reliable picks if needed, but mixing things up with your favorite build or Exotics will do no harm.
Armor | Class | Type | Requirements | Source | Released | Requires | Exotic Perk |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Cenotaph Mask | Warlock | Helm | Lightfall | Lost Sectors | Season 21 | Lightfall | Exotic Perk: "Steadily reloads a portion of your equipped Trace Rifles's magazine from reserves. Damaging a vehicle, boss, or champion with a trace rifle marks them as the target. When an ally defeats the marked target, generate special ammo for yourself and heavy ammo for your allies." |
Omnioculus | Hunter | Chest | Beyond Light | Lost Sectors | Season 13 | Beyond Light | Exotic Perk: "You gain a second Smoke Bomb charge and have damage resistance while invisible. When you make an ally invisible, they gain damage resistance while invisible and you gain melee energy." |
Synthoceps | Titan | Arms | Free-to-Play | Exotic Engrams | Season 1 | Free-to-Play | Exotic Perk: "Increased melee lunge range. Improved melee and Super damage when you're surrounded." |
Loadout
For this nightfall, your team will need to cover Overload and Unstoppable Champions. For Overloads, the easiest setup would be for your Cenotaph Mask Warlock to run Divinity. If that proves difficult, using mods from the artifact or even something such as Le Monarque (if it fits your build) is fine as well.
These days, Unstoppable Champions are typically dealt with through subclass effects like Suspend, Freeze, and Ignite. With the correct builds, we believe relying on these isn’t a bad option here. However, if they begin to be a challenge, Leviathan’s Breath is an easy and potent way to deal with Unstoppables.
Lastly, for heavy weapons, we recommend either rocket launchers or machine guns. While rocket launchers are significantly more potent (and shouldn’t cause many issues with ammo while running Cenotaph Mask), machine guns are definitely the safer pick if you’re just looking to clear the activity once.

GM Power Level Requirements
If you’re interested in running a GM, you need to have a proper Power Level (including your Artifact’s bonus Power):
Difficulty | Recommended | Enemies Power Level | Adept drop rate |
Grandmaster | 1815 | 1840 | Common+ |
For the record, Power Level requirements were drastically reduced this season to allow more players to experience Grandmaster Nightfalls.

HyperNet Current GM Guide
Entering the Vex Network
The nightfall begins on the surface of Neomuna, where you’ll need to fight through waves of Vex and Cabal before entering the Vex Network.
Take your time fighting through enemies until you enter the small cave before the encounter with the Tormentor. Enemies from the cave will funnel toward you, so staying at the entrance isn’t a bad choice. Once the room is relatively safe, be sure to pick up the Vex Craniums that the Minotaurs dropped.
Even on Grandmaster difficulty, these things do insane damage. Use them to clear out the next small wave of ads while saving some of their charge to wipe out the Tormentor in the next room.
Upon entering the Tormentor encounter arena, position yourself on the raised ground on the right side of the room. This is easily the safest spot to approach the fight from, granting you high ground against both the Tormentor and the two Unstoppable Champions that spawn with it. After breaking the shoulder weak points, use Divinity, heavy ammo, and any remaining Vex Craniums to defeat the Tormentor.
Traversing the Vex Network
Upon entering the portal down into the Vex Network, you’ll come across a small transition segment filled with a couple of champions. Clear through these slowly, farming ammo off of them as needed.
The next room is surprisingly simple: defeat the Quantum Minotaur at the entrance and use its Cranium to destroy all of the blights in the room. One Cranium should be enough to clear all of them, but if you need another, have your entire team rotate to the far side of the arena to grab a second one.
From here, progress through the sparrow section and traversal area after it until you reach the Taken Rifts room.
Here, place a Well of Radiance at the entrance of the arena; this gives you a great line of sight for high-priority targets while also keeping you away from the rifts. Have one player grab a Cranium to start working on the rifts while the others focus on killing ads and Champions. Once the Taken Ogres spawn in the center, remember that they are not boss enemies and can, therefore, be affected by debuffs like Suspend and Freeze.
Defeating Parthenios, Drifting Mind
Once the boss fight begins, Parthenios will be positioned in the center of the arena. We suggest moving behind the cover near the back wall, allowing you to take care of enemies (and the axion darts the boss shoots) from afar. Work through both ads and the boss’ health bar slowly until you reach an immunity phase.
At this point, carefully traverse the floating platforms to obtain more Vex Craniums. Destroy all the blights (while also using the Craniums for ad clear as needed) to progress the fight. However, remember that the boss immediately teleports to the back of the arena upon the destruction of the last blight, so make sure your entire fireteam is set up beforehand.
Subsequent phases follow this same pattern: position yourself away from the boss during DPS phases to steer clear of ads and axion darts while using the floating platforms and Craniums to your advantage during immunity phases.
