Destiny 2 Autumn Wind: God Rolls and How to get it

by | Apr 19, 2023

Autumn Wind returns to Lord Shaxx’s inventory following the release of Lightfall. Not previously seen since Curse of Osiris, Autumn Wind rivals the now-removed Pulse Rifle Piece of Mind as a top Rapid-Fire (540 RPM) Pulse option in PvP.

With some great synergy options in PvE also, let’s get to the best rolls to chase for PvE and PvP and why Autumn Wind has caught the eye of many Guardians this season.

How to get Autumn Wind in Season 20

Autumn Wind is only available as a post-game drop from Crucible match completions. A great way to chase this weapon is during Iron Banner with a Prosperity (Crucible) Ghost Mod equipped to help ensure you increase your chances of a drop. This method also works in regular Crucible, but different PvP weapons can drop as a result.

Hopefully, in future seasons this will be added to Lord Shaxx inventory to be directly focused using Crucible engrams.

How good is the Autumn Wind today

The bulk of the conversation here does come down to PvP and the unique options that Autumn Wind holds. You can stack up on Range more than any other Rapid-Fire in the current sandbox; pairing Rangefinder with Headseeker, for example, makes this archetype hit ranges not previously seen with comparable guns like Piece of Mind. If you run Void builds, you can switch out Headseeker for Elemental Capacitor to give this weapon high Range and Stability capabilities, so much so it can easily take opponents off guard. Autumn Wind pairs best with a Shotgun or Fusion Rifle in the Energy Weapon slot.

In PvE, it does roll some interesting combos, such as Demolition and Frenzy or Pugilist and Swashbuckler, so it’s worth keeping an eye on those drops if they do come your way. These combos can be used extremely well with an ability or melee builds, making Autumn Wind quite the sleeper choice when it comes to PvE but a potential top choice.

The main drawback is the large perk and pool. Getting a solid Autumn Wind to drop for either PvE or PvP can take a long time due to RNG so the sooner it comes to the focus engram Crucible pool the better and we could see its usage increase signific

Best Autumn Wind Rolls for PvE and PvP

Hopefully, your Crucible RNG treats you well, and you land a top-tier roll of Autumn Wind easily enough. Here are our recommended rolls for PvE and PvP:

Autumn Wind Pulse Rifle Screen

Autumn Wind God Rolls, Destiny 2

Autumn Wind PvP god roll

Autumn Wind is unique for a Rapid-Fire Pulse because of how far out you can push its Range while also maintaining solid stats in columns such as Stability.

Starting with Hammer-Forged Rifling, we can start by building on what Autumn Wind does best, pushing Range to another level for this archetype. In the second column, Ricochet Rounds suits best due to the bonus +10 Stability and adding +5 to Range.

Rangefinder is the best choice in slot 3 when looking for Range, and the benefits of the enhanced zoom make hitting shots at great distances easier and help this weapon compete outside of the usual comfort zone. Paired with Headseeker in the last slot, this is the roll that can really set Autumn Wind apart from others currently available. Throw on a Counterbalance mod to help with the Recoil for a straighter burst when firing.

  • Barrel: Hammer-Forged Rifling
  • Magazine: Ricochet Rounds
  • Perk 1: Rangefinder
  • Perk 2: Headseeker

Autumn Wind PvE god roll

While you may not see it being recommended often, Autumn Wind does provide a strong roll for PvE. The way to get the best out of it is by feeding into perks that help reduce ability cooldowns and increase its damage.

Demolitist returns 10% of your grenade energy per kill, and this marries up to Frenzy in the best way. Frenzy adds a 10% increase to damage while also boosting Handling and Reload to 100. When in add dense areas of PvE, this provides an excellent loop to your abilities and weapon damage, even in higher-end content. In the current meta, you may find certain weapons suit this slot better, but for fans of Pulse Rifles, Autumn Wind can shine with the right roll.

  • Barrel: Arrowhead Break
  • Magazine: Ricochet Rounds
  • Perk 1: Demolitionist
  • Perk 2: Frenzy

Autumn Wind: Is it worth it?

If you missed out on earlier released Rapid-Fire frames and are a fan of that playstyle, I highly recommend digging in for this faster-firing Pulse Rifle. In PvP, it does provide a unique option with its high Range, catching opponents off guard easily as Autumn Wind performs outside the expected zone. You can get plenty to drop while playing Iron Banner, too, so well worth keeping an eye out on your drops.

There is scope for PvE play, too, it may not be a best-in-slot option, but there is some quality perk synergy to be had to enhance certain builds and playstyles.

Before you go…

If you’re looking to put together a strong PvP loadout able to compete in the current Meta, we recommend taking a closer look at the Imperial Decree shotgun.
