With the release of Season of the Deep, Bungie re-released the Braytech Osprey as a featured Nightfall weapon. An adept variant and some solid perks mean you should keep an eye on this weapon if you need a Rocket Launcher.
In this article, we will cover how good Braytech Osprey is, the best rolls, and how to obtain it.

How to get Braytech Osprey this Season
As a Nightfall weapon, there are two ways to get Braytech Osprey. Firstly, you can purchase one from Zavala with a Vanguard Engram, 25 Legendary Shards, and 20,000 Glimmer. You’ll need 50 Legendary Shards, 50,000 Glimmer, and 10 Nightfall Cipher (Adept) if you want an Adept variant. To get Adept Nightfall Ciphers, you’ll have to complete Grandmaster Nightfalls.
Alternatively, you can farm the Nightfall when Braytech Osprey is the reward that is dropping. However, this can be pretty luck-dependent.
How good is Braytech Osprey
In case you didn’t know, Rocket Launchers are DPS (damage-per-second) gods right now. When combined with Gjallarhorn, they deal outrageous damage and can run through bosses like no tomorrow. Braytech Osprey is no exception as it has access to some good perks, including Envious Assassin, Frenzy, or even the recently buffed Bipod.
In PvP, Rocket Launchers are decent options. They can secure a kill very easily, or a couple if you’re lucky, but they are worse than Grenade Launchers as GLs can get more kills with a single heavy pickup on average. Braytech Osprey doesn’t exactly have any perk that makes it a sleeper pick inside of PvP, making it not bad, but not good, either.
Despite Braytech Osprey being a decent pick, it is outclassed by a good number of options as it doesn’t come with arguably the best perk in the game- Bait and Switch. Osprey’s competition, Apex Predator and Cold Comfort, both have this perk. Even Rocket launchers like The Hothead with Explosive Light are superior than the Braytech Osprey.

Best Braytech Osprey Rolls for PvE and PvP
Braytech Osprey PvE god roll
- Barrel: Quick Launch
- Magazine: Impact Casing
- Perk 1: Envious Assassin (also good: Auto-Loading Holster)
- Perk 2: Frenzy (also good: Bipod or Lasting Impression)
- Masterwork: Handling
Quick Launch is the best barrel option because it increases handling speed and velocity. Impact Casing will also be the best magazine choice as it is a (while slight) increase in damage; however, Alloy Casing works fine, too. Typically, barrels and magazines don’t mean much, and the perks do the heavy lifting.
Envious Assassin is an excellent pick for perk slot 1. However, Auto-Loading Holster could be better because it is easier to utilise in a full DPS rotation. In perk slot 2, Frenzy is a standard strong choice as it increases damage and Handling, making it an appealing option. Bipod and Lasting Impression are both solid choices, too.
Braytech Osprey PvP god roll
- Barrel: Quick Launch
- Magazine: High-Velocity Rounds
- Perk 1: Cluster Bomb (also good: Pulse Monitor)
- Perk 2: Frenzy (also good: Chain Reaction)
- Masterwork: Velocity (also good: Handling)
In PvP, making sure you don’t whiff an easy kill on a Rocket shot is key, so Velocity and Handling are the best stats to focus on. Quick Launch and High-Velocity Rounds give an additional 20 Velocity and 15 Handling.
Perks don’t matter that much, but Cluster Bomb can help you secure kills you may barely miss, and Frenzy gives Handling speed when activated, which might help in a pinch if you need to swap to your Rocket Launcher quickly.
Braytech Osprey: Is it worth farming?
Braytech Osprey is one of the best Void Rocket Launchers in the game. However, it’s hard to recommend it when Apex Predator and Cold Comfort exist as competition. Without Bait and Switch, Braytech Osprey can’t compete in the big leagues, meaning that while it’s not a bad option, it’s certainly not the best.
